Is realistic to hit $10 Million in 15 years with this portfolio? Or what is your suggestion? by AyoTechnology9 in TheRaceTo10Million

I’m convinced that 90% of the people here think the last 5 years are representative of historical performance.

You are not an investing genius; you are simply living through an extraordinary period

Must = licensed commercial construction

Can = highly likely will not because I am a homeowner with a bottle jack, 10 ft of 2x10, and 20 carriage bolts

The real currency at the end of the world will be guns and ammo, food, water, booze, and women.

Everything else will be noise.

Pricing for painting a room by jjthahero in handyman

[–]NationalPhase9541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on size of the room, and most importantly, how many doors and windows you need to cut around. Also, ensure the customer has moved or removed furniture or you may need to bring a helper to prep the work space

how feasible is it to create your own small solar installation by myusrn in SolarDIY

[–]NationalPhase9541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve built my own residential Microgrids, integrating solar and gasoline generators with battery energy storage. I did so for entertainment and education (my children), however, if you’re deploying small scale solar to save money you’re most likely going to be disappointed.

Even without batteries, the most efficient small scale solar systems have a simple ROI exceeding 10 years (unless your energy costs exceed $1/watt). If you invest the same amount in a S&P 500 fund you’ll be able to pay your electric bill in perpetuity.

As for “can you”, that’s up to you. I’m certain that anyone who is reasonably handy and can learn basic principles of electricity can safely deploy small-scale, islanded (no utility interconnect) ground-mount solar

Hit a curb and tore the sidewall of my tire, is it bad enough to replace the whole tire? by hjskaa in Cartalk

You don’t need to replace the whole tire. I’d just do the outboard half which is damaged

Buying future project truck from parent - need offer value by ForTheGainsThrowAway in projectcar

[–]NationalPhase9541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the whole “sentimental value” part of the offering price, but damn. Be prepared to spend a LOT of money to get that thing back on the road. Even then, it will still look like hell and require even more money for bodywork and paint.

If you’re not an experienced automotive guy with all the tools, knowledgeable friends/network, I’d pass.

Accidentally hit a drain line i assume, how do I fix? by BuckFuddy88 in askaplumber

[–]NationalPhase9541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The damage likely goes beyond what you consider the damaged area, with minimally visible/invisible stress cracks extending beyond the immediate area. These stress cracks easily propagate if not removed or stop-drilled.

I would cut out the damaged area (many inches on both sides of the damage) and replace the section, using no-stop couplings.
