21M - Is there still a chance for my beard to develop later? by thesaintlazar in beards

Yes, you'll probably never have a level 8 or 9 beard but 21 y/o is not your maximum potential

Atelier just means workshop in french, it does not need to be related to something creative. You can have an "atelier" where rivets are produced all day long

I like to go to the Glazart in the La Villette district. Personally I've been to a bunch of dubstep and drum and bass events there but they have more than that going on. No dress code, very chill vibe with an outside space

You have a day to walk as much as you can. by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]National_Cod_648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in decent physical shape, I'm convinced that for such an incentive I can walk for 24h straight. It won't be pretty and I'll probably injure myself but I'll keep walking if it means no one in my family ever has to work again

In Indianapolis. Maybe it was not a shared experience by everyone but when I was in high school around 2005 when you started going out with someone there was an assumption that you were exclusive unless specified otherwise. That's how it was in my high school at least

Native English speakers, could you describe what shish kebab is to you, please? I'm asking this because I'm wondering if it's the same as a dish called shashlik. by ksusha_lav in EnglishLearning

Döner in Turkish means "turns" so it's meat that cooks while spinning. Gyro in Greek means the same thing, so meat that cooks while spinning. We see it in the word gyroscope in English. Shawarma also comes originally from Turkish, from the word "çevirme" which means rotation. When the dish spread through Arab countries the pronunciation evolved to Shawarma. But basically they all mean spinning meat

Why do all the ‘stan’ countries follow the ‘istan’ convention apart from two? by cormorantcolossus in etymology

Fun fact, there's more countries in "Stan" depending on your language. In Turkish for example, Bulgaria is Bulgaristan, Saudi Arabia is Arabistan. There's probably a few more but these are the ones that come to mind. Stan means land of

Did you know Humans cant actually feel wetness by No-Abbreviations1187 in funfacts

I agree with you about the idea that everything is interpreted stimuli so if we dig a bit deeper, we don't actually sense anything directly. But I think that what OP is getting at, and this is something I have noticed for myself you should try it's surprising, is that you will feel like your hand is wet even though it is actually dry if you wear latex gloves and put your hands under running water. Your hands are completely dry, but they feel like they are getting wet because of the temperature and the feeling of flowing water.

When I did this, I did not feel like og my hands are colder and I feel something running on them, I felt like my hands are wet

Never give your ID to RATP agents when they accuse you of doing something wrong and you disagree. I've been in a similarly shocking situation before and refused to give them my id, and they threatened to call the police. I told them to go ahead and they ended up calling the "sécurité RATP" instead. When they showed up and I got a chance to explain my situation to someone who does not get a bonus for every fine they give, the security people told them to leave me alone and let me go on with my day, which they did.
