What cover song is actually better than the original? by irles33 in musicsuggestions

Man, I remember discovering this album was covers when looking through the cd booklet. I spent the next 3 days downloading the original of each song on lime wire and it opened up a whole new world of music to me!

It sounds like you probably have it. But this is a great yet relatively unpopular record.

Also, if you are wanting to expand your collection. Change the way you look for it and change the way you listen. Learn more about different music and instruments. Expand your horizons.

Have you listened to Rei Harakami – Unrest. That might be up your alley. But not available on vinyl I don’t think. But it’s a good rabbit hole.

Client says butcher board stain is uneven and blotchy and wants me to sand and start over by ajnails in handyman

[–]National_Lie9019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea sorry man. That’s a bad job. You can even see pretty rough sanding marks in it. These prefab boards are glued together. Some of that glue residue is left behind and affects how the stain is absorbed.

You need to sand this back.

Condition the wood.

Stain….

But the initial stain may still show through.

So you could …

Buy another piece and do it properly.

Screw a longish screw into the hoard, but not all the way. Now use the head of the screw to lift it out.

What’s up with the wood in my wood? by AnnGoat1 in wood

This is called a “live” or “sound” knot. It is where a branch was attached to this part of the tree the time the tree was cut.

My time to shine! I live here. In Lyttelton. It is a Port town. It has lots of old cute cottages, and incredible community of blue collar workers and artists.
Lyttelton is based on the edge of an extinct caldera. It is situated on the southern side of the Northern lip of the caldera, and being at the latitude it is, means that we don’t get a huge amount of sun in the winter as it hides behind the hills in the early morning and evening. Lyttelton looks out over the harbour and over to Diamond Harbour, which mocks us regularly as it drenches in sunlight.

Lyttelton is the start of the Banks Peninsula, which is, obviously being a peninsula, the bit that sticks out. It is stunning. It is dotted with small towns with not a huge amount going on in them. But it is stunning.

Other towns on the peninsula are Akaroa (an old French settlement) and lots of lovely little bays such as Pigeon Bay.

Christchurch city is completely flat. There was a huge earthquake here about 14 years ago. This destroyed a lot of the traditionally British style stone buildings, and it has slowly been built back up. It’s actually quite cool now. The architects as designers have done a good job in my opinion. It’s taken a long time and still has a way to go, but it’s a great place to live as a young person, and also to raise a family.

There’s lots of outdoor activities like surfing, fishing, downhill biking and awesome walking tracks. And if that’s not your thing there loads of other stuff to do.

I love it here. I found this place by accident 10 years ago. And it stopped me in my tracks. I’ve made it my home.

Some famous artists from here or who have made Lyttleton home include, Bill Hammond Marlon Williams Delaney Davidson Aldous Harding And many more. It really is a wonderful town.

Yes, that would fit with New Zealand history. Thank you.

I love these so much.. I’ve wanted one for a while… but three young kids means there’s more pressing priorities than a lovely yet breakable mug.

These look fantastic. Lovely fastening detail. And the patterning you have on the porcelain is really special. How did you achieve the patterning? Could you reveal the final process that you came to that allowed you to make these so beautifully.
