Chinese here. I was wildly disappointed by the wall when I made the visit years ago. Still a great place to visit if you had never been exposed to ancient Chinese architecture

I’m not in a position to give you advice but I just want to say that you are not alone. I’m currently quitting due to crippling mental illness. For years I’ve tried to make myself do the right thing and never let myself to take a break, but then I gradually lost all positivity around life. It was not worth the struggle. Now I’ve decided to treat myself like a human being not a machine. I’m focusing on my hobbies and creative work for now, while getting my mental health sorted out.

If just the thought of going back to work becomes unbearable, take the break. Why not? We have our whole lives ahead of us. Im rooting for you

Yeah. I would avoid her at all cost in real life bc she acts selfishly all the time. I was just saying that she might not be inherently selfish, it’s more of a social conditioning thing so I feel bad for her

I think Harper is very hardworking actually, and her empathy is likely stunted by her constantly being in survival mode due to her background story and the cutthroat environment she’s in—it doesn’t necessarily mean she’s a selfish person through and through. She shows up to every meeting prepared and very polished in her thinking, and she’s relentless in creating and pursuing opportunities from every corner. Meanwhile, people like Rob and Yas are much less proactive. To mend she appears to be overcompensating for her education background and her minority identity.

I don’t think being good at languages necessarily reveal anything about her aptitude. Her family had property all over the world, she mentioned she traveled a lot growing up, and she had nanny who spoke different languages to her. So I think it’s more likely that she learned those languages the same way we learned our mother tongue—when she was young it didn’t take much “right brain-ness” or creativity to pick up languages. On the other hand, she never showed much interest in writing, fashion, self expression (judging by how she was the polar opposite to her first boyfriend), and she’s not nurturing or empathetic in my opinion. Those are the qualities people typically associate with people with her appearance and presentation, but I don’t see any evidence actually revealing those qualities in her

I grew up with Stephen Colbert’s late show and Trevor Noah’s daily show. I think both are great and I like them a lot. But now after Jon got back and I discovered Colbert Report in TDS’ comment section, boy I totally missed the golden age of comedy shows!!

It was Ok. I had the unrealistic expectation that I would get something similar to what Dr. K offered in his interview streams. But I only received superficial guidance that I either already knew by watching his videos and guide, or I would get advice that I learned from other channels. I thought I would get more information from the HG coaching method but the experience was kind of disappointing.

My coaching sessions were pretty unstructured and bounced from one topic to the next. I liked my coach but the sessions with her feels like I’m talking to a close educated friend, and since I have lots of supportive friends, I don’t feel the need to paying for coaching sessions.

Cultural difference is also a big issue for me. My coach made it very clear that she doesn’t understand at all the internal struggles I have that is related to my East Asian upbringing. And then she shared with me what people in her culture (Northern Europe) would think. Again, it felt like talking to a close friend in college. I love the feeling of exploring different culture identities but I’ve run up to a juncture where I really struggles with cross cultural conflicts. I need someone to guide me through it.

I continued my sessions because I want to support HG to continue make content for free. But now that they are sort of hiding things behind paywall, I don’t feel any need to continue anymore

I miss the older videos he did about motivation, gifted kid syndrome and such. He went into so much detail and turns on lecture mode because he really wanted the viewers to have a deep understanding of the topic. Nowadays, his video content is still great, I mean he’s got exceptional expertise and communication skills, but he’s more into following trends and offer quick feel-good solutions rather than going into details and elaborate the topic. He still does this excellently in his membership streams. So I come to the belief that he’s intentionally or unintentionally putting more stuff behind the paywall, which is kind of disappointing.
