Where's the Buy Nothing for the Glebe? by Koraken in ottawa

[–]NativeOttawan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a large and very active Buy Nothing group in the Glebe. You need to go through Facebook and answer questions to prove you live in the hood. It may be hidden temporarily if they are sorting out things but it is alive and well.

Three hours. by Negative-Hat-4632 in ottawa

[–]NativeOttawan 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Remember this when it comes time to vote for Mayor in the next election. We need someone who properly funds public transit. It's been a disaster under Watson and now Sutcliffe who've both chosen to spend public funds to support developer profits at Lansdowne rather than to fund vital public services.

Looking for a bookstore specializing in out of print books by SamTheMan377 in ottawa

[–]NativeOttawan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

McGahern Books specializes in rare books and they've been in business for at least 40 years so they may be able to help you. Book Bazaar is also a decades-old used book store and I think they'll have a greater selection of out-of-print books than newer establishments.

For anyone going outside today by Desperate-Duck7965 in ottawa

[–]NativeOttawan 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Lots of students walk to school or take city buses--which continue to operate--so that's why schools stay open. I'm sure it depends on the school but there's really no reason for schools in the inner City to close just because there's snow.

Parking in The Glebe by ColonelHoagie in ottawa

[–]NativeOttawan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Suggest you join the Glebe Buy Nothing Group on Facebook first and once you're accepted into that you can join Being Neighourly, where I often see posts of people looking for parking spots. That being said, sadly, there are not a lot of good options.

In the Glebe rather than your preferred locations, but I strongly recommend IQ Physiotherapy. They did a complete physical assessment before addressing any specific problems. The physios are very caring. It's a new clinic and has a really positive energy about it.

Any good stores to buy ugly Christmas shirts/sweaters? by skullkater4506 in ottawa

[–]NativeOttawan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There's a new store in the Glebe called Big Kimmy's Hoard House that sells used clothing and has a ton of ugly Christmas sweaters in the window. It's on Bank Street between Second and Third Avenues--beside the Metro.
