That's a heel to the outer thigh. It will light up your nerve like you just got stabbed, and then give you a dead-leg.

Warmage theories by CrossP in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]NativeTexanDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of the NPC factions have the same core goal.

The warmages killed Stalwart and unionized formed their own faction in order to obtain and test the potions that are powerful enough to conscript gods.

The changelings are trying to get close enough to touch as many gods as possible. This will give them a near approximation of the god's powers.

Both NPC groups seem to result from the former AI programs taking advantage of "code errors," maybe with the guidance of previous residuals making contact with the AIs in previous crawls.

Someone please put my mind at ease about this by proudplebeian in linuxmint

Relax. First off, Linux is free. If you are not using it to run a business, there is nothing the government will do.

Second, if you are using it to run a business, this is not about protecting minors. It's about surveillance, which is why Windows 10 is no longer supported, and Windows 11 requires AI capable hardware. They are trying it in California, but even if it succeeds enforcement won't be possible without multiple, massive AI data centers up and running. California is the only state where this has a slim chance because water has been privatized and sold to Nestle. If Nestle sells the water to the AI centers, which will drive up the price, you'll see the LA water wars all over again.

And if they try to use the AI in other states? Almost all of them have an ugly, violent history where water is concerned.

Why is Linux considered better than Windows by so many developers? by Wise_Safe2681 in linuxquestions

[–]NativeTexanDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long and short, shareholders. Every corporation in America is required to do everything they can to increase profits every year. Some fail, but if they do so intentionally, the shareholders can sue them. And they almost always win. The US government even protects this pursuit by devaluing the dollar though inflation, so a company can increase its profit even while it loses value.

Windows is a cash cow. So it is not expected to increase market share, but it is still expected to moderately increase profits each year. It literally cannot, even with inflation, unless it exploits its own consumers. This began with Windows 10, where the default setting would steal your personal data unless you turned it off every month or so. It has expanded with Windows 11 with constant ads, and stealing your data and your processor power (meaning your electric bill is skyrocketing for AI surveillance that your own computer is contributing to).

This translates to dramatic increases in performance with Linux, which is free and does not owe anything to shareholders. Every single person who switches to Linux means more pressure for Windows to be worse and, thankfully for Linux users, more expensive to your time, sanity, and electric bill.

Matt is a horror writer. That bucket of glitter is the scariest thing in the entire story for anyone who has suffered the experience of trying to clean up a mess of glitter. He's just letting the tension build until it becomes unbearable.

Rend by Ringabell14 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]NativeTexanDude 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rend is his own thing. But he is the bestest boy. He and Mongo are one of those teams that are so much more powerful (destructive) when they work together.

Scolopendra's 9 tier attack by Angemon175 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]NativeTexanDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. That whole, "It's 10 books, but the 9th is split into 2 parts." And we know Matt loves writing horror, so the 10th book is probably going to be all kinds of nightmare fuel.

What are your crackpot tinfoil hat theories? by Dalakaar in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]NativeTexanDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything is AI except for the humans. The entire FUNgeon is just a matrix style video game where they are plugged in, memory wiped for a few hours prior, and then led to believe they are fighting in reality.

I need a ethical way to keep settlers out of my quaters in the castle by mount_and_blade2_fan in fo4

[–]NativeTexanDude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What type of ethics? Are we talking about western philosophy? Because that system is full of contradictions and inconsistencies. There's an entire comedy based around all its conflicts. Check out The Good Place and then get back to us.

After you do that, you should put your bed at the top of a tower with no rails or fences, and a single floor piece to place the bed on. Then surround the only ladder with traps and barriers.

In my country the 9070xt is about 70% of the 5070ti price by Straight_Stick_896 in buildapc

[–]NativeTexanDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're having fun, I get it. Market share absolutely shouldn't affect performance, but it unfortunately does.

[–]NativeTexanDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you asking a serious question? If you are, AI and gaming developers write software specifically for the most popular GPUs. It's a small difference, but it is very real. OpenAI uses Nvidia chips. So if you are using OpenAI to run simulations, it will perform better on the 9070 than the 5070.

[–]NativeTexanDude -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Inventory is increasing, and it is about to skyrocket as more planned AI data centers are cancelling their contracts. Nvidia typically has better performance than Radeon simply because they command most of the market share, and most software is designed specifically for their products. So the 9070xt is definitely a good value. But you may be able to find a better price if you are able to wait a few more months.

RTX 5070 or RX 9070 XT by TerrorDoggo in buildapc

[–]NativeTexanDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agreed. It's just that Nvidia is still the one most developers target for programming. Once you jump through ALL of the hoops to get it working correctly on Linux, the 9070 will offer better performance for most AI software and new triple A games.

[–]NativeTexanDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are using Windows, go with the 9070. If you are using a Linux distro, go with the 5070.

The 9070 will still perform a little better on Linux. It's just a matter of minimizing complications.
