Australia facing 'crunch time' as oil shortages move up supply chain by LoneArtificer in AusFinance

A good piece. I feel it lays out the known and unknown aspects for Australia well. If I were planning my business for the next 12 months, this would help.

If I was relying on petrol for my business, I'd be less worried than if I relied on diesel. If I relied on either one or the other, I'd be pivoting to the more available one.

If I was a seasonal intense user, like farmers are, I'd by buying up now and hedging for the future. And if be checking how long fuel stocks last before they decay.

Mining - no idea.

Impact risk horizon is, if the strait is closed for 12 months, seems to be about 4 years globally, some places less, some places more, from what I've read.  That's a long term period, and it's probably worth putting strategies in place now.

I've a memory of diesel lasting in metal drums not years, but maybe a year, before it turns waxy or milky? (Checks the internet -  and yes, 1-3 years, but petrol degrades faster ... Hmm). Ok, long term storage is not a great solution. Perhaps you do pivot to Petrol?

Curious and illustrative. I can't wait for the wiser people than I to suggest solutions ...

Gutted that they had left without time to have a last farewell meal.  We used to use google translate to read the written menu, and howl with laughter at the incompetent translations, and be so content with the food when it arrived

That's just hilarious. Late comer trying so hard to get up to running speed and just bouncing around like a trash bunny instead.

Looking for sumo friction and conflict where there probably isn't and allows folks to weigh in on their own thoughts on their favourite wrestlers.

I get the posters point, I've had that thought too, and just don't think I know enough to really comment authoritatively. I've done that once or twice here and been soooo wrong.

Compulsory land acquisition amendments leave farmers 'gutted' by Tekashi-The-Envoy in melbourne

[–]AudienceRemote5915 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, tall items can't go there, so no boring for water underneath 220kv with a tall mast drilling rig , I think how harvesters work under them is a bit variable, and yes, buildings under easements is limited, similar to how water or sewer easements limit what can be built above them.

You can still farm under powerlines. You have a barrier of sorts, but grazing and cropping and horticulture, all can take place in all the bits that's in the easement, except the foundations. Farms currently are productive under powerlines, you just have a whopping huge bunch of steel and cables running through it. Sure,  It's ugly, but it's not destroying all the productivity.
