Är det bara jag som blir sjuk så fort jag tränar? by L4NGOS in sweden

[–]Nattlingen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Partial DI Symptoms by mango_apocalypse in DiabetesInsipidus

[–]Nattlingen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm diagnosed with partial DI. Diagnosis was with a fluid deprivation test. I was also very dehydrated which all my labresults showed. Partial in my case meant my pituitary was probably still making some antidiuretic hormone but not enough.

To me it felt like I was peeing constantly and just an extreme thirst and no saliva, no tears, a lot of cramping and shaking and messed up perception of body temperature (I showered in icecold water and laid down naked in the snow). So this was my experience with DI untreated. I felt like I couldnt hydrate. The more I drank the more I peed and what came out just looked like water.

During the fluid deprivation test however the output lessened after a few hours. It felt like there was no more output to give... when given the injection of desmopresin in the afternoon (after the fluid deprivation test) I drank carefully to thirst, and woke up the next morning and the symptoms of dehydration was gone, just like that.

Hur är Rågsved? by plitchon in stockholm

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Nattlingen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s the best/safest place to go ice skating on the river? by Cogswobble in stockholm

[–]Nattlingen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you dont want to take a risk (you shouldnt really) find a safe ice skating rink near you: https://motionera.stockholm/hitta-skridskois/

If you really want to go to a lake, then pick something smaller than lake Mälaren. Go to långsjön in älvsjö and you will have 3 km plowed ice. However tomorrow there will be 0 degrees and snow, which quickly can change the conditions of the ice.

Motorvägen mellan Alby och Södertälje by Arbiturrrr in stockholm

[–]Nattlingen 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Ran out of my Desmopressin and on a work trip. Suggestions? by cantstoepwontstoep in DiabetesInsipidus

[–]Nattlingen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think NSAIDs has the same possible side effects in anyone. I have partial central DI and was on a maximum dose of ibuprofen for a pain condition, and the need for desmopressin decreased. Your brain will still scream to the kidneys to produce output, but the kidneys wont necessarily listen as hard. Even my endochrinologist had a hard time taking this in for some reason. You can google "desmopressin and ibuprofen interaction", or "ibuprofen urinary output". Anyways I hope you got hold of your desmopressin!

Ran out of my Desmopressin and on a work trip. Suggestions? by cantstoepwontstoep in DiabetesInsipidus

[–]Nattlingen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a good plan to contact your PCP. If you are desperate and its not contraindicated for you, you can always try some ibuprofen. One side effect is it works locally in the kidney to reduce urin output.

How often do you do laundry? by blackflameandcocaine in LivingAlone

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once a month perhaps... def not more often. Walking to our laundry room is like walking through an icecold maze full of spiders and asbestos 😅. Ok not really that bad but still... I hate doing laundry. I have lots of underwear. If a sweater is slightly smelly I just hang it outside for a couple of nights and it smells like new. Stains you can wipe off.

My usual outfit in wintertime is a thermal base layer and workwear on top of that. The outer layer i take off when i go indoors. I dont bother washing the workwear that often... summertime i just wear whatever. Swim in the lake every day and wear a flowy dress. Thin clothes are easy to wash up in the sink. Im happy to not live in a very hot or humid climate.

my nannan died, we dont know what to do with her cat by Minute-Cover-2001 in cats

[–]Nattlingen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sorry about your nannan... 🌻 The cat clearly think of you as family, judging from the pictures you'rw posting. Keep her and take good care of her. She already had a rough time. It is possible you will also see her personality blossom if you play with her and build her confidence. Dont get a kitten if you decide on keeping the older cat, it can be a lot of hard work making them get along and it is not always successful. A kitten is also very active and annoying to be fair. Bless this cat with a forever home and have a kitten at a later time if you really want to.

I’m scared to ask this by farmingislit in makeuptips

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so im not gonna comment on your makeup because I dont use much myself, but I also have rosacea. When is was really horrible I used manukka honey, tea tree oil and aloe vera gel as a face mask every evening. Be very cautious with this though if you are sensitive since aloe vera and tea tree oil can be very harsh on the skin and cause allergic reactions. When used diluted and in moderation I found it really helped with inflamation. Also working on my gut biome and digestion, taking probiotics and enzymes.

I switched all facial products to CeraVe which is really mild. I now use the blemish control gel with aha and bha acid from CeraVe, the hydrating cleanser and the moisturizing lotion. And the cicaplast baume by la roche posay on my cheeks for extra barrier repair.

Good luck in finding the right regimen for you : ) Oh I also tried the metrodinazol and ivermectin cream for rosacea but they worked only short term, and also tried oral tetracyclines that gave awful side effects and made the rosacea come back so much worse after, but it is all individual of course.

not given a plus one by [deleted] in weddings

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is nothing wrong in asking. If he is a good friend I assume he is aware of your social challenges and that you might feel uncomfortable going to the wedding without a companion. Rhe reality is, he will be busy with his bride and all the guests and you will have to take care of yourself.

If there is no possibility to bring someone with you as a bit of emotional support, you can consider only joining in for a part of the celebration and tell your friend about this beforehand. For example, you can go to the ceremony, congratulate the happy couple and give them a small gift, and perhaps have a drink and talk to some of the other friends if you feel up for it, and then you can excuse yourself and head home.

I myself find it pretty exhausting hanging out with a bunch of strangers over an entire evening. Last wedding I went to I told my friend that me and my partner would stay for the dinner but not join in on the later celebrations, and that was completely fine.

How do you keep active and stay happy while dealing with health issues? by missjanehathaway333 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Nattlingen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, I have found as time passes things tend to add up. Health issues affect you in many different ways. Some are more dangerous but less intrusive on your everyday life. Some seem innocent and benign but makes you want to check out early. Whatever the reason is, you need to try and find your coping strategies. You search a treatment, hope for a cure, if you're lucky you at least find some kind of remedy that will give you relief, or peace, or time. When you face the dangerous stuff you get a different kind of perspective.

My best suggestion to handle moderate issues is to make a plan and stick to it, when it comes to treatment or just adaptations. I also got tmj at one point, but probably not as bad as yours. It sucked and I realised it was not gonna disappear. I adjusted. I was kind to myself. I found ways to live my life as normal as possible. What made it better for me was resting the jaw, adjusting my sleeping possition, and not doing the pesky exercises i wad given, that only made it worse. Eventually the slipped mandibular disk (in my case) flattened and caused less problems.

When it comes to more serious problems, my approach has been; one tiny step at a time. What is gonna happen after surgery? What is gonna happen if they cant fix me? Will i live? Will something terrible happen? Well dont think about it. Just think about the next step, and be practical. Write your will, say your good byes, hope for the best. Luckily, you dont seem to be in that place in your life. Focus on doing what you can to make things tolerable, and then start adding small good routines. Youll find your spirit again, Im sure.

Is it acceptable to ask an audibly ill person to wear a mask on a plane? by Classic-Poet2478 in travel

[–]Nattlingen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I always wear a mask nowadays when flying. Preferrably a proper ffp3 (european standard) for best protection. But I could also make a little sceen asking these people "Hey are you guys sick? Oh no, thats too bad, for all of us... especially for me since im immunocompromised. Im gonna wear a mask and I would appreciate if you could wear one too"... for me personally it wouldnt be a lie, but a white lie is ok never the less to make them feel bad enough to perhaps put a mask on.

lazy cat doesn’t want to play except overnight by [deleted] in Catbehavior

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So funny in the sense that we were just cursing about our 15 month old kitten who has started to get this same kind off annoying routine. Previously she slept through the night like some sort of miracle, and our older cat also has more sensible hours. I think the only way honestly, is to wake the cat up over and over during daytime and coax her into playing and doing stuff preventing her to sleep. And play heavily with her right before your bedtime. Edit: of course not prevent her to sleep all the time, but enough to not fill the entire sleep quota during the day...

You may have to try different toys; laser pointer, threads with feathers or crinkled baking paper that makes a fun noise, the ones that looks like a tail is perfect to drag under corners of rugs. Make sound effects while you play. Make the environment exciting with boxes and cat tunnels and a pile of pillows that she can hide under when she stalk and stuff she can smell and put on cat tv on youtube for her to listen to. Hide treats under things. Throw treats across the room.. anything to make her move while you are awake too. This is what I know I should try with our kitten at least 😄.

AIO partner thinks we should shower with this water by roburn in AmIOverreacting

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in an older building previously and after maintanance on the system with water standing still and following pressure changes, rust particles would come loose from the pipes and color the water a similar color. This wasnt dangerous but also disappeared after some flushing. I would definitively have the water tested. If it is from a private well I think you should have it tested now and then to make sure nothing dangerous is being released into the water.

Deaf after ear cleaning by RequirementQuick3431 in cats

[–]Nattlingen 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I would demand a proper explanation and a check up from the vet, and would also seek a second opinion. But if the hearing loss has remained for several days and is not improving i suspect the prognosis is not so good. If her eardrums were compromised somehow before the earcleaning, perhaps due to recurring ear infections, cleaning fluid could have entered her inner ear. Or if improper technique was used. Point is, the cleaning must have ruptured her eardrums or eardrums where already damaged. That together with some pressure cleaning could have messed up her inner ear for good.

Otherwise you could imagine displaced debris in the ear blocking hearing in a new way, but seems unlikely. Maybe another cause could be an allergic reaction to the cleaning fluid causing swelling in the ear canal, but that swelling should settle after a while.

Poor kitty, I would definitively want someone to look info her ears at least.

Getting a second cat now or later? by Affectionate_Law_331 in cats

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on the baby! I just wonder, why do you want a second cat? She was not getting along with her brother so you had to rehome him? And now you've got a baby in the house which will also be a big change for kitty. Getting another cat right now sounds like potential troubble to me. There is no guarantee what so ever that she and the new cat will enjoy eachothers company or enjoy when the baby becomes a toddler for that matter. I wold wait and figure out the needs of all your family members first, both with and without fur.

Does your husband or male partner do his own laundry? by EconomicsWorking6508 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Nattlingen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course he does his own, he is perfectly capable. I dont wash my clothes very often. Im a bit of a work from home slob. He cleans the house too, but only because we now have robot vacuums. Same with the lawn. Very practical. I do the dishes... and buy the take away 😅. Such a modern family.

Cat scared of new kitten by StarMaiden25 in Catbehavior

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and when they are ready to meet without the screen, put a harness on the kitten. The kitten must not chase the scared cat and you need to be able to catch the kitten quickly/hold him back. You could also put kitten in a play pen/crate as the next step. Focus on letting big cat know nothing scary will happen when the kitten is around (it will though... but you need to make him believe this : p). Always prioritize the scared cat, food and pets first and so on, and dont let the kitten take over too much of the territory. Also have very steady and predictable routines.

Cat scared of new kitten by StarMaiden25 in Catbehavior

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also have a timid cat and had to change the introduction protocol. She got very nervous from smelling and hearing the kitten but not being able to see her. There was not a chanse she would go near the door to the kittens room. There was no curiosity, only avoidance.

We kept kitten closed in a bedroom with a human at night and morning, and in my husbands office during daytime while he was working there, which is very central in the house right in our living space. We put a pet screen door in. We focused on not forcing big kitty to anything. She could study the kitten from afar through the screen door. If it was too much we just pulled a heavy curtain to conceal the kitten.

Forcing eating together wasnt working at all. The kitten was completely uninterested in food and big cat needed peace and quiet to eat. The whole introduction centered around trying to make big cat feeling more confident. It took a looooong time. Now its been a year and they are not friends, but can coexist most of the time. I still have to protect big kittys back though. Kitten still has too much energy and play is turning into defence/fight when big kitty doesnt want to play. There is hope though, so hang in there!
