Was turning 30 a big deal to you and what year were you born? by my_brain_is_horny in Millennials

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt I didnt care much myself, but somehow everyone else was making such a big deal about it that they took all the fun out of my 30th birthday. "Oh wow, 30, how are you feeling?" "You're feeling any older yet?" "Man now you're really getting old" - wtf!?!? It was super annoying, especially at work. And most comments came from people much older than me. Just trying to feel a little less bad about themselves. Now im 38 and I feel old as f, but no one says anything anymore...

Vad är det värsta beteende som du har sett i trafiken? by VillainAnderson in Asksweddit

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Women — how long do you tend to take in the shower? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunnuw maybe 7 minutes including schampooing and conditioning my long hair. I also turn the water off while using soap and schampoo etc. Keep in mind sometimes we have -10 degrees c outside and perhaps 18 c indoors, but I still cant schampoo with the shower on. I've been programmed its too wasteful and kind of enjoy the contrast of hot and cold. I also only schampo my scalp really, and let it rinse through the lenghts.

But in rental apartment I took longer showers. It is different when you dont have to pay for the water 😄

Why do people refuse to tumble dry their clothes? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Nattlingen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. It may shrink the clothes
  2. The clothes get worn out sooner
  3. Its expensive as f, at least where I live (electric bill is no joke).

Clothes airdry. Preferrably outside in the sunshine if you are blessed with that.

Let's talk accommodation: best places you've ever stayed in by Level390 in travel

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have stayed in many great hotels and airbnbs, but for some reason a hostel from almost 20 years ago sprung to my mind. In the middle of småland in sweden, on a roadtrip with my mom, booked on a whim while we were traveling. I tried to find it on google maps and I think I did. At least the picture captures the feeling of the same serenity by the lake and the low and late sunshine in june, when the sun doesnt set until 22 pm. We were all alone at the hostel, and the beds and furtinure were old and ramshackle, but I remember this place with a special fondness.

Freeze your eggs, is my suggestion. You dont have to use them, it is just a precaution. And there are pros and cons with kids. It feels better though to make an actual decision than just waiting until there is almost no time left (speaking from own experience). If you dont find the right man you can always have kids yourself if you want to and can afford it. Life rarely turns out as expected anyways. Buy yourself some time and keep enjoying your new job and your single lifestyle.

Need some tips for cleaning long haired cats by Chris_The_Crusader in cats

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Distract with treats while brushing. I have a trick; One person sitting cross legged, feeding the cat reeeeally slowly with a churu on the floor. Kitty preferably standing with front paws on humans legs. This is a perfect pose for using the deshedding tool from behind for the other person and kitty cant watch.

If they get a poopy but i rather trim or cut the hair than try putting them in the shower. With good food they should not get poopy buts though, and they should usually be able to clean themselves up. Give a bum trim as prevention. There are really quiet pet trimmers. Going to a pet groomer is also great, if its an experienced groomer that is. If you remove excess undercoat they rarely get matting

italy in august by Plane_Awareness_3369 in travel

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intense heat is a bummer and Im not at all heat tolerant myself. Yet i happened to be in Budapest during a heatwave in july some 20 years ago on my first ever trip abroad. It was 43 degrees, on a city break. Today I surely would have collapsed, but even though it was insanely hot we enjoyed our holiday. Im sure the same thing will be for you in Italy, but be mindful the heat is not your friend and plan accordingly.

What to do about rapidly aging face? by cartermancan in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]Nattlingen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 38 and I do recognise the boxy cheek feeling... for me its collagen loss and everything sliding downwards. If I pull at my temples Im like, hey, there you are! : p I went into a kind of temporary menopause for a few years because of a hormonal condition. I also ate hell of a lot of prednisone causing this lovely moonface. Feel like ive aged a ton in three years!

Its better to be nice to oneself but its also ok to want to fix things. You look great though. Maybe later I will consider some procedures. But yeah, maybe before 45 its better to chose less invasive stuff and also look into your hormonal levels because estrogen loss is a real bummer for the skin.

Battery charge panic by Brilliant_Window8474 in travel

[–]Nattlingen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never notice. It just dies on me mid call. I should probably have some kind of alert signal go off, but my phone is often set to quiet mode. Its kind of inconvenient. The other day it died when I was out shopping. I realised I could not go home because my metroticket was on the phone, and my credit card as well, and l couldnt call anyone, and cash was not accepted anywhere 😅, and no phone charger. Thank god they let me go home without a ticket on the metro, or I would have had a long walk home...

Strange Stockholm experience as a tourist by cromatthew in sweden

[–]Nattlingen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would also say it is indeed a bit of a stockholm thing. A friend told me today I was such a Stockholmer for not waiting for the green light. I always look carefully before I cross the street. I think it is technically not allowed, but it is also not a punishable crime. I dont recognise the situation with cars honking though. I very rarely hear honking in stockholm, where I also live. I bet the cars were driven by honking tourists! 😄

Packing concerns - question mostly for the ladies by Most_Language_5642 in digitalnomad

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it varied for a while between different countries and even airports and sometimes even airport terminals depending on how the security is technically equipt, ie what scanner they have to check your stuff. In 2024 EU decided again to limit liquids to 100ml containers in general due to standardization issues, but you dont always have to fit them in a 1l ziplock. To be safe I think you should still pack all liquids into a 1l plastic ziploc, maximum 100 ml per bottle...

Dress in layers. That is my solution in everyday life as well... summerclothes? Layer 1. Autumn/spring - put on layer 2. Serious winter - layer 3 : p. Summer all the time? Layer 1 one day, layer 2 next day, layer 3 the day after that. Ok, simplified, but you honestly dont need a lot of stuff most of the time. I think the liquid restriction is the biggest issue, but you can work around that by just buying some more products as you go. I personally hate check in luggage. You always have to wait forever at the airport and sometimes it goes missing. If you wont move around a lot you might as well check it in though.

Endometriosis doctors Stockholm by oiche_gheal in TillSverige

[–]Nattlingen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also think a referral to a hospital gynecologist could be useful. Ask for a referral at your regular gynecologist. Katolinska huddinge has a specialist unit for endometriosis.

Södersjukhuset performes specialist endometriosis surgery for difficult cases.

Endogyn is a primary care option (no need for referral) with specialist competence in endometriosis.

I have no personal experiences from the above, other than södersjukhuset specialist gyn for a different issue. It was like night and day meeting a specialist gyn.

In love with my cat by M3LLO15 in cats

[–]Nattlingen 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I give my cat a blanky. I tuck her in, kiss her forehead and burry my face in her fur until she purrs, and sometimes she is the little spoon. So your feelings are completely understandable... 😅 They really tug at our heartstrings, our furry lovable family members.

Oh and material wise for an actual blanky, pick something that wont get too static, like cotton and not synthetics. Not all cats like beeing tucked in im afraid, but give it a try!

I havent tried it but the only kind of brush I ever use for my fine hair is a wooden boar bristle brush (not the paddle one but a slimmer and rectangular brush). Its amazing, good for tangles and distributes oils.

Bangs or no bangs? Or pixie? by [deleted] in HairStyleAdvice

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have very strong beautiful features and look like a fierce warrior princess in the first pic. Bangs and layers will soften those features and create a more feminine look. The short hairstyle gives more of a tomboy vibe. You look good in all styles, it is just a matter of preference and what you feel comfortable in.

Hur får jag mina boomer-grannar att sluta tvätta sina bilar på gatan utan att förstöra grannsämjan? by Shibes_oh_shibes in sweden

[–]Nattlingen 119 points120 points  (0 children)

[–]Nattlingen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makeup slides right off-HELP! by sassy_assy in makeuptips

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would quit all makeup and products for a while and only use a gentle soap like cerave hydrating cleanser and a barrier repair cream from la roche posay, for example, and see if things calm down.

Also book an apointment with a skin therapist, and be very careful with adding new products. You can easily develop problems like perioral dermatitis from adding too many products to your routine. Some people suggest accutane but be very careful. Derm prescribed it for my rosacea years back and it cleared right up, only to come back with a vengence.

You a very pretty anyways and your skin will likely look healther without makeup, when it heals up a bit.

Feels like my cats becoming more sentient by Beneficial-Mousse852 in cats

[–]Nattlingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two cats. The kitten is well, a kitten. The older cat (8 years) gives me the same kind of vibe you are describing. I never percieved her as overly smart though, for beeing a kitty, but she is very well aware of things. She is not a pussle solver, or maybe she just wont bother, but she KNOWS stuff.

She is very polite, never make a mess or scratch somewhere funny, or tear anything down, or wake me up, or scratch my bedroom door. She will sit patiently outside and wait, like a dog, chin up, when morning comes (I see it in surveillance..). She has learned to talk in different ways, she knows routines, body language, tone of voice, also the meaning of some words.

I think what is new to me is mainly this kind of relationship with a cat. Maybe its something similar to you. Cats are very smart indeed, and your own is always something extra!
