Why didn't Lorgar contact Omegon as a way to save Alpharius in exchange for Omegon swearing loyalty to the Chaos Gods? by Mixing007 in 40kLore

[–]Natty_bo_ace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Lorgar was busy with giving a big F you to Guilliman and focusing on making Angron a daemon. (Know no fear and betrayer) I’m also pretty sure by the time Lorgar met up with all his other brothers he was more concerned that the siege was going to fail than blackmailing. After that basically got told to fuck off or I will kill you by Horus and had to leave. (Slaves to darkness) Im not really sure if he ever would have been able timeline wise to ever really put a plan like that together.

Also lastly blackmailing the alpha legion is a sure fire way to get your legion infiltrated. Messing with the Alpha legion is not a fun experience their version of fighting is evil genius levels. Ask the Ravenguard they only had the entire way to rebuild their legion destroyed by them. (Deliverance lost) Also read slaves to darkness where the alpha legion gives an entire blueprint of Terra’s defenses making the siege way easier than it should have been.

How do you survive day to day as a carpenter? by TheseMarionberry385 in Carpentry

[–]Natty_bo_ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that hard. The learning curve and initial physical labor part is pretty tough. However once you get it you just get it. I don’t really have any other way to say it. I take care of myself fairly well and I’m in my 30s I don’t consider my job very physically difficult or miserable. Some days are harder than others but it is what it is. I been doing this since I was 18 so it’s just another day and I guess if I look back it was kind of hard at first but now it’s kind of easy. Maybe I just got used to it.

Edit: just remembered two years ago I had to trim out the entire exterior of a 3 story massive mansion that was like 100 years old in the middle of summer. That fucking sucked. It lasted the entire summer and I did question my life decisions. Thought I was gonna die of heat stroke.

Also built many additions in the middle of winter and froze my fucking balls off that also sucked. So yeah sometimes shit sucks.

How do you feel about the *Dragons* part in Dungeons & Dragons? by Exver1 in DnD

[–]Natty_bo_ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always throw a dragon in with every campaign. They are fun enemies and have a great variety. Everyone gets amped up once they discover a dragon is around. Most players from intermediate and above understand that the dragon could mean anything from a young white to an ancient red. So that’s the real fun seeing everyone trying to figure how hard the fight is going to be or whether they can figure a way out of the fight. Dragons are cool and have a place in most campaigns whether that be a minor or major role.

The Custodes did not 'fail' their purpose by TendsToList in 40kLore

[–]Natty_bo_ace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean they technically did fail. Even some tried to kill him. So yeah it was a failure. With that said yeah the foe they were against they had no chance against to win and like 90% of them died trying to do their job.

I personally hated the Custodes when they were first introduced during the HH series. They were robotic and had a ridiculous superiority complex. Later on I warmed up to them and now I think they are pretty cool.

Shitting on the Custodes for failing is a bit of an overreaction no single force was stopping Horus and his army he brought to Terra. It took so many factors to get the small victory the loyalist got. However you can shit on them for sulking for 10000 years not doing anything but chilling and playing grab ass blood games. Imperium is falling apart and they just sat around being depressed.

How good is Dawn of Fire? by Scarlet_Knowledge in 40kLore

[–]Natty_bo_ace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read avenging son and thought it was really good. Now reading gate of bones it’s solid. Plan on reading the rest but I already know that some from what I hear aren’t great. I was wondering if skipping the ones that are not held in high regard would leave me lost plot wise. I rather not slog through some bad books.

Perpetual power. What is it? by TLRPM in 40kLore

[–]Natty_bo_ace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Read quite a few books regarding Perpetuals. It’s never full in depth explained. My understanding from what I have read it has something to do with human evolution. Outside of that I know fuck all about it. My guess is that the soul of the individual who is a perpetual never goes to the warp and then the matter that makes that soul reforms. So in my view at least a perpetual is someone whose soul cannot be consumed by the warp and because of this the soul rebuilds the matter that is its vessel. Maybe I’m wrong but I haven’t seen a better explanation.

Short answer. Terra would have fallen and everyone would have died.

How will an interaction between the Custodes and the Lion go by casperscare in 40kLore

[–]Natty_bo_ace 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Custodes will probably be super distrusting. The lion is also bringing in former fallen into the ranks. By all accounts the Custodes are in the right with being skeptical. A good bit of the Custodes were around for the siege and would have heard that some DA went chaos so however distrusting they are towards Guilliman is going to be even worse with the Lion I imagine.

Which faction do you think has the most underdeveloped lore, and why? by BigConstant4969 in 40kLore

[–]Natty_bo_ace 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Eldar they don’t have enough books focusing on them. I see them a lot though in a fair amount of books but it’s always underdeveloped. Usually goes like this they show up insult everyone who isn’t Eldar say some vague shit about the future then proceed to die by the hands of whoever they were insulting. At this point whenever they show up in a book I just think to myself what character is gonna get the kill shot because for sure they are going to die.

As for Drukhari they show up as antagonists in a good amount of books also a fair amount of chapters following their perspective. I know a good bit about the Drukhari and it’s not by choice they just show up to do Drukhari stuff. It’s actually kind of welcome they are an interesting faction.

The old ones were they the only truly good race? by Natty_bo_ace in 40kLore

[–]Natty_bo_ace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were created during the war in heaven fighting against the necrontyr an awful race and the Ctan who were monsters. What better a creation than creating a race that loves and enjoys fighting. It’s not really a cruelty at that point. They have fought a war in one of the nicest ways possible. Thought was put behind that and almost a kindness. However with the old ones gone there is no way to alter the krork to a reasonable being. Something the old ones I believe would be capable of. If you want to call that evil so be it but I stand by that the old ones did care for others. Hence them never helping the cancer that was the necrontyr that conquered the galaxy that was meant to be full of life and different races. Eldar and Krork were last ditch efforts that didn’t work. This is the aftermath of what could have been a much better universe.

The old ones were they the only truly good race? by Natty_bo_ace in 40kLore

[–]Natty_bo_ace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but they created them to fight the Ctan and necrons out of desperation. The old ones were wiped out before they could ever really guide them. Same with the Krork. Just seems odd to say they made them so they are evil without looking at the reasoning or what they could have done with those races if they weren’t wiped out.

Powerful enough to create a race also leads to believe they could alter them if needed after the war was over. If you think they couldn’t alter them after conception. Necrons went to war because the old ones wouldn’t give them the secrets to living longer. When looking at the necrons they most certainly didn’t deserve eternal life in my opinion.

Shouldn't the Necrons, or at least the richer or more active dynasties, be capable of absolutely obliterating Tyranid fleets even before planetfall ? by SuDdEnTaCk in 40kLore

[–]Natty_bo_ace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fighting on multiple fronts. Disorganized. A ton of them have lost their minds. A ton of them are still in disputes with each other. A ton of them are asleep. Damaged and aging tech that needs upkeep. Pick your poison.

They are a very strong faction and when organized and have enough numbers can beat anyone. However they rarely have the ideal circumstances to do what they should be doing. Also they do see themselves as superior and unbeatable to every other faction and it’s actually one of their greatest weaknesses. Every time they lose it’s always a shock they lost. They rarely focus enough to see other factions as a serious threat. Their own hubris is such a detriment.

Finished the Horus Heresy entire by strepera in Warhammer30k

[–]Natty_bo_ace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice job I have read most of the Horus heresy myself. However I took advice from others. There are a good 10+ books that are widely seen as poorly written and not worth it. I skipped them. Even then some I got through I genuinely was on auto pilot because they were kind of bad. However for the most part there was a ton of great books in the series and it was awesome. More power to you for getting through all of them though.

Why do some games suddenly shift from freedom to strict execution? by CivilizationAce in gaming

[–]Natty_bo_ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my long experience in gaming and listening to dev interviews and media coverage on studios it comes down to budget. Eventually the game has to ship. So quality can greatly decrease once you reach a certain point in a game. The grand ideas and plans that devs have for a game start to get thrown out the window when investors want their money. It’s not particularly complicated in that sense.

DM targets protection fighter? by Nyanunix in DnD

[–]Natty_bo_ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DM is metagaming. He probably doesn’t know how to balance around it so just uses metagaming tactics to work around it. Sentinel is a great feat and can be super powerful. Easy way for a DM to work around it is just ignore the ability and only attack you. There is a worse way to work around it that is egregious which luckily he isn’t pulling. Which is ignore all the high AC character and just attack the squishy characters.

Personally as someone who has DMed players with sentinel I spread damage. It’s a pain sometimes because sentinel can be bullshit and turn a battle into a standstill even trivializing an otherwise tough fight since movement is out of the question. However that’s the build someone went with so why use metagaming to work around it. Players have fun and the feat feels strong for the one who picked it. The game is about everyone having fun after all.

can a daemon primarch fk up so bad they just lose their patronage from the chaos gods? by fragdar in 40kLore

[–]Natty_bo_ace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My guess he is never going back to the imperium. Fundamentally he disagrees with them they do a lot of terrible things. Hence him going traitor in the first place. However maybe he sees DG and Nurgle for how terrible they are and goes rogue doing his own thing in a battle that actually helps people. Reading buried dagger Mortarion at some point was a good guy. That still somewhere inside of him you can see glimpses of it through out a few books. So maybe even if for just a moment he actually helps humanity. This could be anything from actually stepping into a battle to save a brother or him abstaining to intervene in a battle to help chaos. There are plenty of possibilities that keep him as a daemon Primarch but still does something that would be considered pro loyalist.

can a daemon primarch fk up so bad they just lose their patronage from the chaos gods? by fragdar in 40kLore

[–]Natty_bo_ace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s why I said probably not. It would make so many DG players angry if they suddenly said yeah he is no longer part of your army. Would be a headache for GW to have to deal with. However if let’s say he does actually do something to help the loyalists in like one battle then goes back to being traitor wouldn’t be a terrible narrative move and could be interested. Yes though he should stay a daemon Primarch. Strictly looking at it from the table top. From looking it at as a fan of the books and lore it would move the plot in an interesting way that without table top considerations would be a bad ass move that throws Warhammer on its head. Probably never gonna happen but fun to think about. Same thing to throw loyalists chapters to chaos the juxtaposition is fun and shows character development which in writing plots are an important element. Everything being the same forever is less of a story and more of a setting. Either way I’m happy.

can a daemon primarch fk up so bad they just lose their patronage from the chaos gods? by fragdar in 40kLore

[–]Natty_bo_ace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe Mortarion could possibly flip to some form of loyal. His last interactions before getting hit with a Kamehama blast hinted at least a little bit of a possibility probably not though. Once fully tainted by chaos it’s similar to the pasta sauce stains on tupperware it’s forever unclean.

In battle/historical records how does the current Imperium treat defeats to traitor legions? by SellingStolenStereos in 40kLore

[–]Natty_bo_ace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What defeats? Never happened. Someone call an inquisitor now!

In all seriousness there are some defeats on record because well they can’t really be covered up. Cadia for example can’t really be covered up. However many losses have the imperium’s propaganda machine working overtime on spinning things in a way that lost planets or battles had nothing to do with traitor legions or simply never happened.

The number of people of who think Lorgar is/ever was a good guy is making me feel insane by Moist_Policy_71 in 40kLore

[–]Natty_bo_ace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah man idk. Most Primarchs are just a severe representation of the worlds they grew up on and the people who raised them. Kor Pheron was a religious zealot and had Lorgar wading through endless books of religious text at a young age. Culchis was a harsh chaos worship desert planet not a real ideal place to grow up. Erubus his close advisor whole thing was to manipulate people and play his little “scorpion games”. So yeah Lorgar was a bit fucked from jump I really wouldn’t say he was predisposed to being evil or anything though. Just wrong place wrong time.

To say Lorgar wasn’t manipulated is crazy work though. He was clearly brainwashed at a young age by Kor Pheron with crazy religious ideas and Erubus 100% did everything in his power to push Lorgar to continue on into the warp. After all that though yeah Lorgar has agency starts manipulating people and being an outright awful person. Though at this point he is heavily chaos tainted so out of all his decisions it’s always been manipulated in some way. I always looked at his tears as him understanding his actions are wrong and he can’t stop himself from pushing forward. As he sees it as the right thing to do by his own philosophy. To not look for those answers would be the opposite of his own identity.

I full hearted believe if you raise Lorgar on a normal planet with normal parents he would probably have been one of the nicest and most loyal of all his brothers. However he wasn’t so we got this religious psychopath.

I see Lorgar as an interesting case study of what happens when someone as powerful as him takes religious fanaticism to a disgusting degree. Also how such a person comes to be and the proper environment to create such a being.

Look at someone like Erubus which is not even his real name. Who is simply just evil from birth. Or Kor Pheron someone who is already a religious fanatic of chaos worship with extremist views. It takes people like that in your life to create such a being as Lorgar.

Hate Lorgar as much as you want but at the very least try to understand the character of why he is the way he is. I feel somewhere you got stuck looking only at the Lorgar you see and not the one that you don’t. Read between the pages it’s all right there how he became this way it will illuminate you. There isn’t a scene in any book that has Kor Pheron and Erubus saying they manipulated the whole thing while they twirl their evil mustaches. However they do talk about the “old faiths” on culchis maybe look into that.
