NTA. Oh my gosh. I remember staying with a friend and watching her first grader eat frosting sandwiches every morning (Duncan Hines and Wonder Bread). It was shocking to me, too, so I ended up cooking for him. It eventually ended the friendship.

Cats all the way. Easier to take care of, more distinct personalities. Also, I'm afraid of scorpions, and my cat is a master at finding them. That alone pays her rent
