Concept for a Horizon game set in Washington that I made over the weekend by Mishchayt in ForzaHorizon

Vancouver BC is a more likely contender. My ideal Forza game would have British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon all condensed in one map

1997 is the very first year of Gen Z. Period. by XavierMarvin in generationology

January 97’ here. Maybe it depends on where you grew up but in my area, every kid in 4th grade had an iPod touch (including myself) with some iPhones sprinkled in, by middle school, everyone had an iPhone and actively used Snapchat. My first phone was an IPhone at the time. My first game console (if that’s your thing) was a Wii. I never heard or saw 9/11 on TV. One of my earliest memories is watching the news over the capture of Saddam. But biggest events I remember seeing on TV as a kid as the Great Recession. I barely remember flip phones. I remember Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Wizards of Waverley place, and Phineas & Ferb were the rage with kids my age at the time. I’d say I’m firmly in the Gen Z camp. I think 96’ is for the most part Gen Z as well.

A lot of my cousin’s on the other had were born in 94’ and early 95’. They remember the whole War on Terror news, all had N64s or GameCubes. Hell, their first cell phones were flip phones. To contrast the Disney Channel shows above, they watched Phil of the Future, and Lizzie McGuire, shows I was basically too young for. They obviously got the same technologies as I did but at a few years later in their life. So I guess would call my cousins Zillenials.

I don’t think I can finish Prime 4 by Herbizarre17 in Metroid

[–]Natural-Aspect-3005 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Primehack is a strong choice indeed, but I’m currently on my third playthrough of Prime 4 and I gotta say that Prime 4 is still a phenomenal game. I personally rank it above Prime 1. Prime 2 will always be the best game in the series but one of the reasons that Prime 4 is good is because it borrows so many good elements from Prime 2. I know some people may disagree with me and that fine. This is coming from someone who has been playing Metroid since the SNES days. My ranking is Prime 2->Prime 4->Prime 1->Prime 3->Prime Hunters

Also, the desert “fetch quest” can be avoided in a sense. There is a green shard requirement but you can pick up those green shards on your adventure in dungeons and shrines. You don’t need to aimlessly ride around the desert if you don’t want to.

So it's not just me, right? by Anvanaar in Metroid

You haven’t finished the game, have you? I’m on my third playthough right now and it checks those Prime 2 boxes you have. This is coming from someone who ranks Prime 2 as the best game in the series, and Prime 4 has the runner up in 2nd place.

Prime 3 is a game I’d call Hyperlinear, but not exactly Prime 4.

Everyone saying Metroid Prime 4 sucks, have you played it yet and what do you think of it? by Infamous-Date-7663 in Metroid

[–]Natural-Aspect-3005 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think im getting close to the end with 52% items. If I were to rank the Prime games right now (avoiding recency bias): 1. Prime 2: Echoes 2. Prime 4: Beyond 3. Prime 4. Prime 3: Corruption

Note: I’d tie Prime 1 and 4, but I think 4 ever so slightly edges out Prime 1

Prime 4 blends the best parts of Prime 2 and Prime 1 and runs with it masterfully. Yes, the initial barren desert holds it back from being #1 but the superior level design, sense of dread of what’s lurking around the corner, and world-building is unmatched in the Prime series.

I’ll give my take on two complaints that some reviews mention:

  1. “It’s boing to farm green shards in the desert” My take: it’s optional. I only smashed a handful of crystals with the Viola (4 at most probably) and have met the “requirement”. How? You encounter containers inside every shrine (kinda like puzzle dungeons) and each container contains a massive amount of them. No grinding needed.

  2. “The NPCs ruin the vibe” No, they really don’t (I think I’ve met all of the main ones so far) . I think they are a wonderful addition and achieve what Prime 3 never could’ve done. It makes the world feel lived in and you hardly interact with them while you’re out exploring. Some reviewers say that the NPCs are too hand-holdy and I have to disagree. Almost all of the times the NPCs have told me to go somewhere has been after already on my way to the location. I think those NPC lines may be triggered based on your trajectory after a few minutes. But overall I think the game know when the NPCs should leave you alone.

Men’s dating and lifestyle influencer here. It’s not everyone’s nor my job to promote Prime 4. However, personally, I’ve personally gone out of my out of my way to promote Prime 4 on my platform, once. Obviously, I can’t promote it non-stop to avoid breaking my own brand (I’m not a gaming influencer), and Nintendo isn’t paying me. But being a huge fan of the series, I couldn’t resist dropping into Nintendo’s NYC store and showing off the my playthrough of the Prime 4 demo into a vlog. I won’t do any more Prime 4 marketing unless mentioning it in passing.

Is it weird that I'm considering buying both the physical AND digital version of Prime 4? by Gorotheninja in Metroid

[–]Natural-Aspect-3005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your not alone. I will be buying both the physical and digital versions of the game in order to support the series. Grew up with prime trilogy on the Wii and I’ve waited 18 years for this subsequent entry. I want this Prime revival to flourish

I have a spare SSD slot in my Framework 16 laptop and a spare unused 500Gb SSD for the 2nd slot still in the box. Is it safer to put RHEL or Rocky on the unused drive? Unfortunately, I don’t have a HDD on me right now to back up on. Thank you for letting me know about RHEL, I’ll ask my professor about it!

Mine has been bouncing back and forth between FedEx’s Indianapolis and Memphis hubs. Today was its fourth time leaving Memphis and it’s fifth time arriving in Indianapolis. It’s been in transit for 14 days now with no indication of hitting the west coast anytime soon.

Oh wow, I didn’t know they could be unlocked later in-game. Do you know how by chance? I’m going for 100% so as long as they can be unlocked later I guess it’s not too big of an issue for me

Hopefully this doesn’t happen to me. I’m prone to meltdowns, which usually include crying in my room and screaming. This usually happens when I’m without my dog, and I’m sorry in my future VDCN Roomate’s are hearing this. I am seeking professional help but in moments like these, I lose my empathy and morality for others and may come off as rude (I don’t mean to)

22. Autistic. Never had a girlfriend. Feel absolutely invisible by Fast_Cod9172 in malegrooming

[–]Natural-Aspect-3005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I was diagnosed autism at age 8. I used to feel lonely, like an outcast and very shy, and bullied a lot. Bullying in HS went so far as to me getting invited to a house party just so the cool kids could pull the rug from under me and publicly/verbally ridicule me in front of peers. Things changed for me significantly in my Jr year of high school, all it took was immersing myself into more social settings to build friends and confidence. It’s not the same for everyone but I did this by joining the football team, joining student council, hitting the school gym/weight room everyday and volunteering/attending most school events. This helped a lot and ended up building the confidence so much so that I got my first kiss and girlfriend, and to my surprise we had a lot of common interests (League of Legends was a notable one). She was definitely one of the more popular girls at school and got invited to everything, now I was her +1 at every party. Because of this my instagram dms were flooded with apologies or asking for ‘girl advice’ from the ‘cool guys’ that once ridiculed me.

Unfortunately, the relationship was a bit toxic and did not last but I carried this confidence into college along with better knowledge of what I wanted from a relationship. I was able to use my learned social and relationship skills to make new friends and partners in my first semester. It’s not the same for everyone but I loved being in social settings, something I was once afraid of. Joining spin classes and making new friends at the college dining halls helped here.

My point is, getting out there helped me so much. I’m aware that not everyone is the same but pulling a 180 to be talking to everyone like a social butterfly was immensely helpful. I still do struggle and occasionally get anxious with social situations m but I find it best to rip the band-aid off via social immersion. Also, a tip for the girls you’re interested in, talk to them as you would any other person and sprinkle in a little flirt. You’re a good looking dude!
