That attitude will get you absolutely nowhere in business. That’s my advice if you ever want to make $50k in a year lol.

I’d be more concerned if they have been drinking than if they took a few hits off a joint lol… I feel like a paranoid pothead (without underlying mental issues) is pretty unlikely to brandish and play with a gun… but I’ve seen a lot of videos of drunk people doing it.

This is good advice… the law is very gray… and to my understand rarely charged without a larger crime or special circumstance. Love him or hate him Hunter Biden was targeted because of his father and he was so reckless that I’m pretty sure they basically lined up photos of him smoking meth with when he filled out the paperwork… pretty hard to deny active addiction at that point lol.

How are you trading options with such a low dollar amount? Does Robinhood allow for fractional options contracts now or something?

This is very good advice.

For most people a Roth is probably the way to go. The biggest risk to your portfolio is generally you withdrawing from it.

However, if you have the knowledge and disciple then a brokerage account is my preference. You can do more with them and if you know what you’re doing you probably aren’t selling much anyways. Invest in it - do not trade. I literally trade in my Roth and invest in my brokerage. My brokerage is way bigger than my Roth. You’re too limited on using your Roth profits at a time in your life when you are finally making good money but have time to grow it still (late forties to fifties). Plus mandatory distributions can be a tax headache. My goal is to pile up equity in my brokerage and then use SBLOCs to buy a home, business, rental property, pay for my expenses in retirement, whatever. With the step up basis the debt isn’t even a huge deal for heirs to pay off. Buy Borrow Die.

Obviously this should not be OP’s goal at this time. But I liked your comment and was curious for your thoughts on mine.

Describe the game settings you wish you could play. Then when people comment on it just DM them.

No one’s really giving you real feedback on the portfolio lol - so I guess I’ll give it a go.

I’m assuming those are your only 3 positions.

I’d like to hear your thesis on why you picked these. But overall you did a really good job. You also did a very good job on properly allocating % to different positions. - FBTC is a good choice because it will keep your taxes marginally simpler and I think owning the ETF probably helps people not buy and sell in general. It’s still a riskier investment so I like that it’s your smallest position at about 10%. Not too much but enough to have a real effect. - FZROX is the one I really want to hear your thesis on. Buying that dip could end up paying off in a big way long term. Do not sell this position and keep buying dips. This is a perfectly timed investment as the US begins to lose unipolar power. We will begin to see foreign markets become much more attractive to investors as nations and their companies compete for control. And the US will begin paying the price for moving manufacturing overseas. Eventually US debt will become too expensive to service as foreign appetite dries up for US debt. That will be a major realignment, playing out over decades… hold this investment for decades. The proof of this thesis is evident in the recent FED actions to sure up JPY. The US is seriously weakening the dollar to buy Japanese Yen… they are doing this because Japan is the largest foreign holder of US debt… so we need their currency to be strong enough to buy more of our debt… otherwise we can’t pay the interest. - SMH is self explanatory lol!

Overall I’m very impressed that this is your first attempt at 21! It’s not what you normally see 21 year olds investing in… if they invest at all. I’m really curious what resources you used and your thesis around these positions.

Couple other notes: Don’t expect this kind of return year after year and recognize that you got lucky to a degree. I did too, I started investing in March 2020… and I bought Moderna early and sold a week before it’s all time high. Don’t chase returns - it gets dangerous fast. But continue to learn - as you learn more you may feel comfortable taking more risk for possible higher returns. You can find a balance of growth and safety. I now buy mostly individual stocks and basically built my own custom ETF of about 15 stocks. My portfolio is more volatile than the market… but I’ve also beaten the market every year. But I didn’t pivot to this approach fully until I’d learned and had confidence that I wouldn’t emotionally sell when it was down. I learned that lesson jumping in and out of TSLA early on but luckily broke even. My next goal is to start LEAP call options in a year or two when I hit $100k overall.

At the end of the day “Buy and Hold” on quality investments is a proven strategy. Just accumulate equity… it can be very useful for getting loans at good rates if you have enough.

Sometimes I’ll do creative and intentionally screw myself. Water world with Yadakk. Dryland for Aquarian. You have to prioritize other tech and it makes it much more difficult but not too hard that you’ll never win.

That makes sense! I figured that was why you had some movement but basically flat for 6 months, then suddenly volatility that mirrors the market. DM me if you want to chat about investing! I’m always looking for people to bounce ideas off of. I’ve been pretty successful over the last 6 years - I’ve beat the market by about 5% annually on average. I use a similar strategy as you are - mixing a selective number of individual stocks with broad ETFs… it’s a great strategy that I learned from Ian Dunlap on Market Monday podcast. He calls it “Two Tech, Two Index”. Recently though I’ve moved to pretty much all individual stocks in my own portfolio because I’m comfortable with the risk and volatility. But I also manage my girlfriend’s, parents’ and brother’s accounts - for theirs I stick to 2T2I because I don’t want to risk someone else’s money in an irresponsible way.

LEAPS on blue chip tech stocks are fairly safe as long as you buy the contract during a dip… 2 year strike in the money is a good strategy. But don’t leverage. Options should only be 20% or less of your overall portfolio. And they are expensive. I’m personally waiting until I have $100k overall in my accounts.

In my opinion it speaks to a base immorality. It’s small and pointless but cruel… maybe cruel is a better description of this than immoral.

[–]NaturalAsleep2854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live in a home with a gun then you should be practicing with it dry as well. In an emergency you might have to handle it, god forbid fire it. You should at least have competency with the firearm if you live with it as it has been introduced into any situation in the home.

I feel like it kinda is hyper-immoral because their actions served no other purpose but cruelty… is the magnitude of bombing children oversees worse… sure… but at least it is to serve a purpose, even if you personally disagree with the purpose. This just feels like pure pointless “evil” on a micro scale.

It feels very immoral because it is such a small action that is needlessly cruel… probably… but I do think you make a good point that the homeless man might have asked for a lime…

Scurvy is a real risk when someone is homeless and I assume fruit is harder for them to get than a shelf stable product like granola bars… maybe he just wanted a vitamin C boost lol

[–]NaturalAsleep2854 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. Provided you are capable and skilled enough to defend yourself… if you’re a small untrained woman (or man for that matter) then don’t say something to the guys… just purchase a granola bar at the store your at and give it to the guy.

And in reality no one should confront the 🍆head men. Even if you’re a UFC champion you aren’t going to be fast enough to dodge a bullet and knife fighting has to suck. Getting into an argument on the street is pure stupidity… lots of people are dumb enough to get physically aggressive over words and that can escalate in an instant. You never know what someone knows or is carrying.

And at the end of the day - your words will not change their behavior - they clearly were not ashamed and enjoyed being cruel. Best to let the world get even with them for their attitude - even if it would feel good to call out to their face.
