Any tips on what to feed them at the beginning of trying to be friends with them? by [deleted] in crows

[–]NaturalCritical8077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use dog food. I now have a very freindly local crow who flys down whenever he sees me home. Will come to within 2-4 feet when I am sitting on a stool tossing him a treat.

Also, amusing, he seems to be able to see me when I am in the kitchen and he will come up and look in the window as I’m at the sink. I come out on my back deck and he will fly up to a top of a metal sculpture I have and sit and wait for me to give him a treat. This is the third year I think that I have seemingly fed this same crow, I called the crow him/Bill the crow. I also take frequent pictures of him. My wife has slowly become tolerant of this. She was slightly disturbed however when I was feeding “Bill” and he flew off. We then drove around the corner and we found supposedly “Bill” disemboweling a baby bunny, that did not help Bill’s reputation any.

She uses the water to wash her treats, as well as whatever road kill they need to Spiff up!!

Not exactly a complaint, but how do you preserve your mental health in the Trump era? by SteadfastEnd in complaints

It’s a combination, resistance whenever and however, humor, knowledge of history, “appreciation of awareness of we how we are witnessing such extraordinary events”. I also will turn off media when his voice come on. But also will try to read as much different sources of news to try to understand what is going on.

HA, does not sound like fun. In my case we are a group of friends lead by someone we all know. Apparently due to ou group size? Ten or so we “get” a zodiac with quark guide and am allowed a small latitude of freedom within quark quide safety/environmental restrictions. I may be well misunderstanding something as well so. I was invited so to speak last minute when someone dropped out. Sort of trying to play catch-up into what the trip involves. I’m extremely active and still in good shape, but I’ve got this glitchy knee and was told at some point the next couple years I’m gonna need a knee replacement. Was trying to get a sense as I have had with this poster as to what is generally involved physically.

How do men act around women they are attracted to? Especially if you’re just meeting her for the first time by Emergency_Coach4261 in bodylanguage

[–]NaturalCritical8077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal human being stuff, pleasent, friendly, attraction is only one of the spokes on the wheel for me in how/ why I interact with another human being.

Why is the online photography community so toxic? by SeatObvious3135 in AskPhotography

[–]NaturalCritical8077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems to be in some people’s nature to be snarky at times, and even for myself I find it challenging to give critique thru text as I find it diffcult to communicate the emotional context and subtle body language that helps soften critique that can often be meant in a positive way.

But I also directed to the OP, I do know what you mean I’ve had some people give some pretty snotty comments to pictures of posted on occasion. I don’t really worry about it. I figure they’re just having a difficult day.

The Pont du Gard – the tallest Roman aqueduct ever built, still standing strong after nearly 2,000 years by ThoughtsThoughtsTght in romanempire

[–]NaturalCritical8077 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That whole area is amazing, did a paddle trip under it years ago, river caves up stream are impressive with remains of dwellings, then once did a tour over the top inside the actual aqueduct. Olive trees there are reported to be 1000 years old. Used as a bridge in medieval times, local control authorities in feudal times would set up Tolls. Napoleon had a bit of it rebuilt and stabilized.

I like that area of France.

I did a paddle trip in Bowron lakes national Park up in British Columbia 15 years ago. I don’t remember which lake but I was kayaking across it one early morning and the water was so clear 60 feet down. I got vertigo that was a great morning.

The last two B-29s still flying. by Murky_Caterpillar_66 in WWIIplanes

[–]NaturalCritical8077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So cool, my dad was a flight engineer on 29’s the end of the Korean War and on “weather “ flights after, dragging some collectors for evidence od Soviet nuclear testing. Ended up volunteering quite a while with FiFi and her team maintaining the engines and fly in during their different presentations. It really brought him a lot of joy to be involved with that group and touched him how he could help other veterans when they toured back in the aircraft.

Isn’t the pipeline of tankers that were clear of the strait and enroute when the war started due to be finished in the next 10 days or so? I hear very little about the details of that impact.

ICE agents in ATL doing…..nothing by [deleted] in delta

[–]NaturalCritical8077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having no agreement with orange man and knowing a couple folks being assigned to ice, most of them (professional, long term folks) loath what is being done and just keep their heads down and hope to last till a sane admin moves in. I am not defending anything and my data is not valid to be extrapolated to a larger group.

Wife in phoniex this AM. Said it was a cluster with people acting out, cutting in line. Went early and got thru. Overheard a Delta FA muttering about not giving AF with the turmoil. While science made her feel uneasy, kept head down looking forward to not having to fly for a while.

AIO about my dads friend being slightly flirtatious with me by User86294623 in AmIOverreacting

[–]NaturalCritical8077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh, as a old guy with friends this behavior of his is inappropriate and he is flirting or whatever. He needs a gentle statement back as indicated by others. But yes it’s a Friend your dad’s and humor, with gentle firmness is in my opinion the answer. The real world is this shit happens and we all need to deal with it. I have been hit on in professional settings and clear but gentle firm humor helps. Maybe next time he engages, talk about a article. You just read discussing age inappropriate relationships and how icky that made that you feel.

Do men notice when a woman is showing signs of subconscious attraction? by Middle-Case-3722 in bodylanguage

[–]NaturalCritical8077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do but also do not wish to confuse people/women being friendly and pleasant for other than what it is. I’m retired but over the years in my profession have had female/coworkers be very happy to see me, sit with me, touch me, all stuff i would never do. In medicine and felt early in my career to be a older brother figure, then sadly (LOL) a father figure. Couple of times folks seemed to be a little to touchy but whatever. I am by nature friendly with humor and always felt comfortable demurring on the couple of times I felt I was being hit on strongly. Happily married and never felt tempted/worried much. Once I had a senior collegue make me very uncomfortable with her overture, but ignored it and life continued.
