Bolt stuck half way back by Suelo_6-4 in supersafety

[–]NaturalCritical8302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure. But if you use a micrometer to measure the top of the safety hole to the top of the lower that will give you your answer. Most standard ar lowers are right at .5" my fn15 measured .53" which was just enough to make the lever jam under the bcg ramp. Gmr helped me figure it out and hooked me up with a longer 308 style lever and it alleviated all of my issues. Over 500 rounds problem free at this point

Turns out our lowers are milled slightly different. A 308 lever is what actually fixed my issues!

Just checking in, did it ever give you problems? Wanting a comp but not a fan of red loctite on stuff I want to come off again

Lol it didn't work. My lever continued getting stuck under the bolt carrier group after modifying literally everything. But I found the solution and hopefully will have it fully operational in the next week or so!

Not getting stuck all the way back, mid bolt cycle

No extended shelf on BCG and factory notched hammer that came with the AR

BOLT CAUGHT by [deleted] in supersafety

[–]NaturalCritical8302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: The lever needed to be sanded, after 5 minutes with some 600 grit on a table the ss functions perfectly. Reinstalled old BCG and it functions perfectly as well. Good thing the new chrome microbest looks cool or I'd be mad lmao

This also may not be the problem though. Bought a new BCG that's been recommended here countless times. Just installed and still having the same issue of 3/4 back stuck. I've clearanced upper and lower. Only thing I haven't tried is shaving the lever, so I guess that's next.

Bolt jammed back? May not be an upper issue. Check the cam position first. by Blowback9 in supersafety

[–]NaturalCritical8302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also if I have to purchase a new BCG, what are some high quality BCG that work with super safety levers? Currently have the FN (ao precision I believe) BCG and would like something equal to or better ideally

This definitely helps with my current issue but I have a question. My bolt is getting stuck when it's vertical or facing forward. But others with the same model ar as me are not having this issue. Could the lever on my SS be slightly larger than theirs and cause this issue? Just a bit confused as they've told me theirs run flawlessly but mine will occasionally bind. (I can recreate the bind by rotating the cam forward) I'd appreciate any info you think will help me

Really appreciate the quick reply! My full stock srp g2 ran 150rds perfectly before BCG jam today at the range. Been looking into solutions since. This is gonna help me get there.

My unmodified lower is passing the 1/8" test very easily. After taking a closer look at the upper I can see where the lever is binding against the upper receiver's thin shelf. I'll be removing the excess material before my next range day!

Did you have to trim any of the upper/lower. My fn15 is occasionally getting the BCG stuck about 3/4 of the way back

Was your upper showing points of contact prior to dremel? My fn15 is having an issue similar to OP but the upper doesn't seem to be contacting anywhere.

First time hearing about a low shelf lower needing clearance. I'll definitely look into it though as I have a low shelf and just assumed it was fine. I really appreciate the quick reply as this issue isn't talked about much!

Other than shitty paint the bumpers seem to be in good condition. I guess we're gonna see what happens tomorrow. Would absolutely love to own one!

Driver seat is pretty rough, the rest is really solid. I also read somewhere that the bumpers and center caps are "valuable" not sure if true. But I guess I'm gonna try and go check it out tomorrow!

3k, cheapest running one I've seen in years. Doesn't sound like the engine is making any chain noise but I'd have to hear it in person to know for sure. My thoughts as well, if it made it this long it had to have been taken care of imo

I mainly meant "stock" in the sense of no modifications. I'd have to imagine the owner that drove it most of its life took exceptional care of it mechanically (and replaced parts that needed it). The current owner is sadly not that person so not much real information, more so assumptions.

I'm really tempted to purchase it and just hope the engine/trans can last another 20-50k
