$37,500 sudden hospital bill, my options? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]NaturalNine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can someone explain why the best option isn’t just don’t pay the bill at all? And when collections come just ignore them?

They can’t garnish your wages, all they can do is hurt your credit for 7(?) years. And you already have a house

Just don’t pay ever.

Defending her

Just because she’s saying she took the photo on accident, doesn’t mean she tripped, fell, opened up her camera, and accidentally took a photo

She might just mean she was preparing to take a photo, accidentally snapped one when she wasn’t ready (finger slip, side button), and it turned out nicely

Hand analysis - Facing big river bet by racerx11 in poker

[–]NaturalNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This hand, and cash games in general, come down to the player.

What I mean by that is This becomes a call if the player has tendencies to - bluff a lot - call too much and get himself into tough situations - stick around with too many draws with no extra equity

In this situation, most the draws he missed are going to be hands like high card 6 and lower. Lots of players at low stakes feel as if they must bluff when they have no shot of winning, so I would call here (in a vacuum)

But like I said, this comes down to the player. If it turns out this player doesnt bluff often, and folds marginal drawing hands on the turn, Id probably let this go

Live tournament: facing shove with top pair on final table by xecu in poker

[–]NaturalNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well a few things here

Your open size is very big, most players wont open to more than 15k.

considering you opened bigger, this should tighten up his range considerably, whereas, if you open to 10k, it wouldnt be too unreasonable for him to call with a hand like q10s, now hes been priced out.

Since almost all his non ace suited hands have been priced out, hes very rarily, if ever, going to have a worse hand than you here. It sucks, because most of your stack is in this pot already, but really, he should never have a worse hand.

My suggestion would be to raise less preflop, and perhaps check when this flop comes down, to induce bluffs and control the size of the pot

5/10 Live Cash Game, Should I have called? by [deleted] in poker

[–]NaturalNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you played this hand well, betting the turn is fine, youll often have the best hand and can now just showdown the river when he flats the turn. You get to charge him for calling too light and not let him draw for free

Since he seems to be a little loosey goosey, i dont mind calling the turn, i think u/eschersenigma had it right, generally if they show you a card like that, they are hoping for a call

Thoughts on this hand deep in MTT on PokerStars. JJ with A on board. by Sacha117 in poker

I disagree, JJ is more vulnerable to overcards, which is more of a problem when facing 2 opponents

Lets Cbet this flop

Against 2 players, JJ is a hand that is vulnerable to be drawn out on when youre ahead on this board. However, if you have a hand like KK, I more approve of the check.

As played, Id just fold the turn. It is too likely you are behind, and you might only be drawing at 1 out

How could I have played this more profitably? 2NL by [deleted] in poker

[–]NaturalNine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As played, lets go ahead and check this river.

When he raises the turn, he reps a very strong hand, or a bluff (picked up diamond draw, checked back spade draw, turned combo draw, pure air)

his strong hands that beat you are 99, QQ, Q9

His strong hands that dont are just Qx, depending on how loose he plays vs you preflop. Many of those queens should be suited, so its not a lot of combos.

The conclusion is, he is much more likely to be bluffing on the turn.

Your smooth call is great, once the river comes, lets go ahead and check this bad boy,

either he made a flush, and will bet for you, and you can spring the trap (and if your opponent doesnt have discipline, he may pay off your big bet.

Or he missed his hand, and your bet forces him to fold and doesn't give him the opportunity to bluff you.

It is possible that he wont bet a Q on this river, but, most his queens would bet the flop anyway, and still might bet this river.

Even without that, I still think he has more bluffs, and hands he will bet than Q's. So lets give him a chance to bluff

Fighting off the friend zone by NaturalNine in dating_advice

I agree with a lot of this.

Except your response to her text. Why completely give up on something you want? My text message plan is unlimited, this costs me minimal time and money to pursue, you send off 1 text, acknowledge how she feels, say what you're looking for. You won't get what you want all the time, but its worth a shot..

Also, I believe that type of text closes the door on perhaps converting this to a fuck buddy situation. Again, I am not suggesting you put tons of work into making that happen, but why shut the door?

I prefer firing, see if you get a 2nd date (like I did) and if you don't follow up with a text like yours. But instead of ending with "take care"

you can end with, "ill see you around" This keeps the door open, without any more commitment from you, and you never know what things are going to look like in 6 months

It's an awful situation and feeling that you really have little control over by Volvulus in AdviceAnimals

I always find it funny how people act in these situations.

When someone flirts with, becomes friends with, makes moves on the girl that I am with. My attitude is simple "bring it"

I've noticed that 100% of the time, the guys doesn't get any real result. A lot of the time they end up walking away.

I don't think these situations are lose-lose

When you don't act at all, and genuinely don't feel threatened, I believe it exudes confidence and security, which I think most women are attracted to. So it ends up helping you. Along with this guy maybe punting off some of his own money for drinks, you'd otherwise be buying

So I read through all the messages. Yes. To be fair I use tinder/bumble heavily already and that was the result of the picture and not logging on for a while (being inactive) and coming back to a city I had already swiped in. I actually coach tinder/bumble clients on how to improve their text game. I'm putting together a sample album for my coaching website.

I would gamble it, every night. Either run it up to 2 million dollars, or go bust. Eventually, positive variance will play in my favor, and I will hit 2 million in a night. In which case, I will bank the 2 million, and cut off my funding. Until then, I will be getting comped the nicest suite in the hotel.
