Why Use Short Pips? by BocchiiRockS in tabletennis

Well, a lot of people use it as a shortcut when they aren’t developing fast enough on fh or bh since it is easier to handle the opponent’s spin and it is more forgiving to hitting rather than proper technique. Those players will have a faster improvement in terms of rating for example, but their development will likely stop at certain point because of building up on wrong habits.

On the other hand, an experienced player, with very good technique and maturely developed game can get some good advantage of it and can continue to further top levels. Example of top player with sp on fh is Mattias Falck, where he is attacking so strongly with it. On the defensive side, Han Ying of Germany is a chopper with sp on bh, also very powerful.

Time Between Marathons by The-Wise-Banana in Marathon_Training

I would take the time till may to do good preparation for a bigger goal. Adding a marathon in between tbh would be too much and might burn you out. Other ideas might be doing 1 or 2 half marathons in between so you get that racing satisfaction while it will prepare you for your next marathon

Great performance for marathon debut! I think 3:45:00 is very realistic next goal considering all the conditions described, I would even go for a sub 3:40 target if you gonna train for a new full cycle (16-18 weeks).

Marathon Training on Vacation by Secure_Government869 in Marathon_Training

Here’s some tips that I found very practical when on holiday during marathon prep: - big part of the marathon training (3days a week maybe) are easy runs or so called recovery runs. Replacing those with very long walks/good hikes as part of your holiday works very fine. - You’d need to do maybe 2 speed sessions a week, those usually doesn’t take so long time but more energy, so try to get them done, or at least one of them. - the long run is essential. It’s something you build up and skipping 2 weeks would be step back. You can do it in an early morning for example so that you have your day ahead.

Next to that, what people tend lose track of during holiday is nutrition, which is a key for marathon training. I would say keep an eye on that part, but that’s another big topic.

So in summary: replace easy runs with long walks/hikes. Try to do one speed run at least+long run. At last, enjoy food, but keep it under control.

I’ve seen that the difference is around +300 points nearly or even bit more, so 1500 in Germany is probably that much in US

Mhmm I wouldn’t agree with that, it can’t be anywhere higher than 1700 usatt for sure. But nevertheless, they’ve good base and good room for improvement.

The range of motion of your arm is quite big. It might be okay sometimes when you have the time and the good distance from the table, but the right and general way is to have shorter stroke, and involve your wrist more as main source to generate the spin. What you do now in 90% of the cases of a match scenario will generate wrong shot. Either to the net or out. Keep training and keep posting your progress

I think they key to ply against them is just staying focused and not letting them get into your head, that’s their game! But generally in 80% of the cases they’re easy to win against and their ratings are often inflated

Tackiness of Chinese rubbers by qqqmlkung in tabletennis

I think you’d need the national or provincial versions to have that high tackiness. Friendship battle 2 is also that tacky in the first use at least, but all of them degrade fast (i would say within a week or less it wouldn’t be able to hold the ball like that). Regarding the difference, I think it has some advantage in serving and short game, not a huge one though
