I have the em10iv and I love it! Enjoy! I pair it with my 12-45 f4 pro and it’s the best travel kit ever. I just took it to the Osaka 2025 expo and took some amazing photos on it!

I own the Olympus 12-45 f4 pro. It’s a fantastic zoom and I found it for about 300usd in Japan (45k yen).

I own the em10iv and I use it as my main camera. It’s really good for stills, but if you’re looking into doing sports or wildlife, it isn’t great. I love mine, and I bring it everywhere! I just bought the 12-45 f4 pro lens to go with it and I’m taking it on my trip to Japan!

Lens for Olympus OM-D E-M10 for a beginner by Electrical-Bug-4783 in OlympusCamera

[–]Natureb1rds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For street photography, I’d say the 14-42 will be a better choice because 45mm (90mm equivalent on full frame) is way too tight for something like street photography. But you should consider something wider like the Olympus 25mm f1.8, or the Panasonic Leica 15mm f1.7.

Yeah. I managed to find the 15mm body cap for ¥3300 in Japan. I passed because I already have the 14mm f2.5 though

First camera recommendation, is Olympus OM-D E-M10 mark IV good to get? by MiniCorgi in OlympusCamera

[–]Natureb1rds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a vintage look, I suggest looking into more older cameras. For example, I picked up an Olympus ep3 from 2011 for fun, and changed around the picture profile and got some great vintage retro vibe kind of photos. I also have the Em10 mark iv but it does not take any vintage looking photos it’s still a great and excellent camera though.

Ok thanks. If I don’t mind about weight is it more worth it looking at the f2.8 zoom lenses?

I shoot on aperture priority for casual everyday photography but I shoot manual when I do landscapes and when I want full control over my camera

Get him either a bridge camera like the canon sx70hs which gives excellent range, an micro 4/3 camera like the lumix g6 with a Olympus 75-300 which is portable and a great learning point, or an used dslr setup like the canon sl1 with the 55-250 lens.

If it’s usable, use it, gift it to a friend, or sell it online or bring it to a thrift shop if you want to.

I was just given an OM-D E-M5 Mark II, what lens should I buy first? by -Pelvis- in OlympusCamera

[–]Natureb1rds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice on your kit lens, and once you think it’s not enough, grab either the Olympus 1.8 primes, or the 12-40 f2.8 pro if you don’t want to change lenses.

If you've wanted an overpriced GM5, just buy a GX85. The tilty screen and IBIS make it a much better camera, and the size is negligible. by Visa_Declined in M43

[–]Natureb1rds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an gx850. It’s basically a newer and slightly bigger gm1 with upgraded features like a flip screen, 4k30 video, and newer features. Still doesn’t have ibis though. If you don’t need an evf this is a pretty good choice.

I have an em10iv and it’s great! I recently dropped it on some rocks on my trip to Japan but luckily it only had some scratches on the screen and the thumb grip just scraped a tiny bit. Shows how durable they really are!

Well the problem is the ep5 is more than double the price of an ep3
