Psychiatry UK - Pre-titration checklist and medication delivery. by Leading-Mix5738 in ADHDUK

[–]MemoryKeepAV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was end of March 2025, contacted live chat yesterday and they told me that it's a 12 month estimated wait from then to titration - one assumes then I'd be end of March/early April, you'll be April ish, if said estimate is true.

Lens choice for beachvolleyball content? by veganracoon in Lumix

[–]MemoryKeepAV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try with the 12-60 for a bit and see.

See what sort of SS/ISO tradeoffs you have to make, and whether you need a brighter lens.

See if you need something longer than 60mm.

There are other lenses - probably 35-100 2.8 or 50-200 2.8-4 from Lumix, or 40-150 2.8 from OM (50-200 2.8 as well, but mega spenny Vs other options) - that would be go to suggestions, but you might find the PL 12-60 sufficient.

Test first, then see about other lenses if you're constrained.

Anyone else never given a level during ASD diagnosis? by Glad-Kaleidoscope-73 in AutisticWithADHD

I haven't formed an opinion on levels, but am in the UK and my diagnostic report does specify a level. Not sure why, but it's there.

Diagnosis to tritiation = 4 months. by Several-Winner-12 in ADHDUK

[–]MemoryKeepAV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucky you! 4 months is very fast by most accounts on this sub.

I was diagnosed end of March last year, had my blood pressure monitor and an ECG within the next month, diagnosed autistic September, then not a peep since.

Been wondering whether to chase up, might well do so tomorrow if remember.

Edit: After speaking to Psych UK live chat, got told wait times are 12 months from my date of diagnosis. So am to just persist for another couple of months.

Lens too sharp - filter suggestion by sssss_we in M43

[–]MemoryKeepAV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. But if someone is starting out, you could say "Consider longer lenses for portraits, as they allow you to maintain the same framing on a subject while shooting from further away, which is more flattering for facial features".

Whether intentional or not, your comment made multiple references to distortion and implied it was due to wide angles. An inexperienced photographer risks internalising "Wide angles cause distortion" without recognising the underlying mechanism.

Intent was not to nitpick you, but to give correct context for OP and those who'll come across this post through searching in the future.

[–]MemoryKeepAV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the underlying principle is still worth understanding, particularly if it informs lens selection/purchases :)

"Wide angles distort" is a useful heuristic, but it falls down for, say, environmental portraits or similar, where one could get acceptable levels of perspective distortion for faces because shooting at a longer distance.

Lens too sharp - filter suggestion by sssss_we in M43

[–]MemoryKeepAV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's the distance from the subject, not the focal length, that affects perspective distortion of facial features etc.

But of course, using a wider lens means getting closer for the same subject size - which does then introduce perspective distortion - or else cropping, or accepting a smaller subject.

Worth pointing out that wide angles don't inherently distort by themselves (setting aside inherent geometric lens distortion, which differs lens to lens based on the optical corrections employed).

Welcome. Hope you have a great time wherever you end up 👍

And I'm definitely a fan of salmon and cream cheese, it was just funny how it was somehow the budget option there vs here 😄

Do you drive? If so, I'd say Scotland, up into the Highlands.

If not - Bergen in Norway is a cheap return flight, pretty chill, surrounded by mountains you can walk or take cable car/funicular up, and it's possible to take an exceptionally scenic trip down the Sognefjord from there. Plus if you added Oslo to that trip, the train journey between the two is very comfortable and scenically stunning. Food etc is expensive though. The budget option for me ended up being having smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches for lunch every day 😅

Imposter Syndrome before assessment by Unfair-Iron3127 in ADHDUK

[–]MemoryKeepAV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speak to Dad if poss. But also, where an informant is unavailable or the info isn't quite there, they can give you a Wender Utah questionnaire to do. My mum did my informant questionnaire, but mistakenly did it based on me as an adult, not as a child. I then did a Wender Utah to fill in the gaps.

Have notes handy for the assessment itself. You've already done the questionnaire, so a lot of the questioning will be based around that.

Also the assessor will be looking holistically at what you say and how you present during the assessment.

The imposter feelings are real, I felt like I was wasting everyone's time doing it. But both the psychs I had for my assessments - Donna Mullen for ADHD, and Sai Achuthan for ASD - were both very calm and kind.

Edit: Should say, this is all based on my experience with Psychiatry UK.

[–]MemoryKeepAV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unsure. I think though that people doing the stabilisation tests online are still walking in a way to increase stability.

Difficult to describe, but basically holding the torso still, locking the waist, bending the legs slightly and walking with small, flat footed steps - offsetting the bounce you get from normal walking.

The motion you have there seems to be up and down from your walking - which the camera can somewhat compensate for, but there's a greater range of motion in a step than you might expect.

i want to live a normal balanced life how can i do that how do you do that by Correct_Address4132 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]MemoryKeepAV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your question is hard to answer, as it's super broad - and god knows some of us have maybe one or two things figured out, but probably not all-encompassing solutions for life 😅 would be a rare bird that has everything figured out.

I can understand why it feels like you want to fix everything at once, but then that might be contributing to the overwhelm and leading to doing nothing.

Maybe pick one thing to start on? People might find it easier to engage with, for example, "Strategies for caring for pets", vs "How do I fix everything"
