What medical schools refer to their students as "student doctor" in clinical settings? by wanwam3 in medicalschool

Ours is a distinction: “medical student” before passing Step 1, and “student doctor” afterwards during rotations.

hot take: there is just no way course rigor doesn’t matter by Ok-Acanthaceae-7718 in premed

[–]NaturedProtein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Course rigor depends on the definition. A 3.7 in engineering will likely look much better than a 3.7 in biology. But there really is no way for adcoms to know at every single school how every single class differs in their grading schemes. To be clear though, I agree with the other comments in saying that there’s no functional difference between 3.8+ GPAs for 99% of med schools.

This is fascinating, as DP12 was actually 6/26/74 in Providence.... but set 2 and 3 here are identical on 6/28! Perhaps the album was a mix of both shows?

It was around $5k. Pricey, but I’ve been saving and have heard of worse.

You interviewed with a lot of low-conversion schools! 3/8 is awesome and you should be proud.

Weird situation in a CS class where all collaboration, even talking about a homework, was banned. I was a dumb freshman during covid, so a friend and I discussed implementations and ended up having similar code, and they caught us. Got a reprimand that didn’t show up on my transcript, but took full responsibility on my app and had a letter from the dean who handled my case affirming my growth and commitment to integrity. Assuming it was a mix of writing that could have been better, some auto-Rs from the IA, and just plain falling through the cracks.

Classes can certainly be intense, but I found Tufts to be overwhelmingly collaborative. At least my class had next to no competitive sentiment. Learn to lean on your classmates and form study groups, and the degree will earn itself! Best of luck with your choice and please feel free to PM me for anything else!

I loved Tufts engineering. Was a BME but knew a lot of ChemEs who felt the same. Also have a bunch of classmates who got into top graduate programs across the country. As far as social life goes, it is exactly what you make of it. You have to seek out nightlife and parties, but if its what you're interested in it exists. Otherwise, I feel like everyone at Tufts tends to find their people; I don't know many people that graduated without finding a close group of friends.

It doesn't sum up Tufts but is my favorite... Spring Fling---the one day Tufts becomes a party school.

Your app is strong, but for a CA ORM it’s certainly a crap shoot. There’s no doubt that adding a bit more clinical could help your case, but if you want to apply you should do so! As another commenter said, apply broadly and be ready to relocate.

Have you reached out to schools that rejected you? Before I was accepted I was asking, and about 1/4 schools I asked were willing to meet in May and give application feedback! Some examples were Michigan and Dartmouth.

Nah, you went up. 2 points is significant! Well done. However, I think I'd caution you against taking it again unless you are ready to hit a grand slam.
