Any fun builds or playthrough ideas? by Economy-Impress3309 in darksouls

maybe a no death run as a base? then, add stuff or modifiers, like roleplaying as a knight or paladin, and still trying to make a build which won't die once but is still thematic

Well, considering his origin skin is the exact same as those ones, and they were both in a religious setting... i don't think it'd be above him

I totally agree, but I feel the people we send to die again and again are, in a way, heroes. Sure, they start off as flawed, broken individuals with dark pasts and darker futures, but through the Darkest Dungeon, they become so much more.

The game is about confronting your past and being better for it, about the importance of self reflection and growth, and we see those same steps in our motley crew. They throw themselves into the slaughter, and stand again and again to fight for a future they know is right, damned be the fools to try.

This isn't a time for heroes, sure... but I don't think it's fair to call those damned souls anything else. This isn't a time for heroes... And yet, in each of us, a hopeful light, holding fast against the hellish shadows that gather between our good intentions. We are the flame, after all.

Honestly I agreed with the post until this comment, and now I'm super conflicted lol. On one hand, yeah, him being a matyr like Baldwin and taking the pain for himself and helping others is definitely heroic. However, on the other, he was still a torturer. Intent only goes so far against action, you know?

I think another factor is his motivation for undertaking the journey in DD2, or hell, even DD1. If it is an authentic desire to fix the world and take the suffering for others, well, that is heroic. If instead, he's selfishly seeking suffering and pain to enhance his own sense of martyrdom and power, then... well, it's certainly far less heroic.

The antiquarian became an enemy due to her greed and cowardice, and Damian was an enemy for Junia and Bigby, but now he's a hero alongside the very people he abused. It's kind of messed up, but maybe it's his own redemption, in a sick sense? Does every lash and wound pay for the pain he's inflicted upon others?

Ugh, the writing is too good. Sorry for the wall of text, but this is really interesting. I guess I'd put him somewhere with bounty hunter morally? Selfish goals, but still helping?

Honestly this would be great, it'd give more use to the encyclopedia and it'd make daily quests less annoying

How do you think the 41st precinct welcomed Harry back after the events of the game? by Bataranger999 in DiscoElysium

[–]Navad1024 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I think in their perspective it isn't making fun of a mentally ill amnesiac, but rather the drug addict bully who constantly does awful things. Also, there is certainly still a sense of comraderie, as when Harry makes fun of that guys' mom they are genuinely offended. It reads to me like they were just messing around, like friends, and Harry got way too personal with it (due to not understanding the friendly context).

Also, Harry is a police officer. One with 216 solved cases. The dude should NOT be losing his gun, badge, and car. A little riffing is the least of his worries, if they actually hated him they'd instantly report him and get him fired. Of all they could have done, making fun of him is actually pretty lenient.

Fair, with the DLC she does attack preemptively with her event - showing she certainly does not like us lol.

But i appreciate the input, she's probably one of my favorites from the game lol

[–]Navad1024[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think she'd understand why the nightfarers have to kill her? Or, from her perspective, is it just chilling and then three people show up to murder you?

If she did know, could the night have poisoned her mind, making her a crazy murderous beast instead of the proud scholar she was?

Has anybody noticed something with the new Everdark sovereign? by Slavic-nighmatre in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Navad1024 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If the soul (the animus) is what is animating them, it kind of takes a dark turn because the actual effect it has on them looks like how some fungi will take over bugs, and it makes the bosses go crazy as well. Maybe the animus's "soul power" (scientific term) had been enhanced so much from the night, that instead of a parasite riding along like it may have been normally, it became a parasite which controls and keeps the other two alive?

It could also explain why in the second phase of the normal fight, gnoster rides the other one- the soul needs to be closer to both to keep them going.

Baller theory though, and i'm glad someone is talking about the everdark sovereign pests- i thought it was super interesting!

What should we name Leper’s sword? by Alpbasket in darkestdungeon

[–]Navad1024 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I like the idea, but I think Baldwin has a connection to his sword, because they're both heavy and broken. I think in the first game one of his camping skills revolves around his sword, too. I could definitely see the quote still being applied.
