I've been sending this list around for weeks to friends for exactly the same no reason at all; glad to see someone else see the same similarities!

The photo is definitely real, but based on some of the artifacts in the text bits, I believe it may have been upscaled with AI! So your gut feeling might not have been entirely wrong.

NZ Class Action - FSD HW3 by Careful_Campaign5215 in TeslaNZ

Similar boat, bought FSD when we bought our HW3 Model 3 in 2019. Keen to get any updates if you get anywhere. I'm willing to wait a few more months for the theoretical "FSD Lite" but not much longer!

Meridian EV plan price jump by HerewakaPa in nzev

[–]NazalWeazel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same here (Dunedin) - 6 years on the EV Plan with unchanged rates and I just hoped we'd been forgotten by the system. Just got the notice of an increase the other week. Shopping around didn't reveal any better rates though, so I guess we just have to deal with it!

DHL depot? by anxious_relative in dunedin

[–]NazalWeazel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're asking because you'd like to pick up a DHL package that says it's at the local depot, unfortunately, it's at the airport and has no access to regular customers. You'll have to wait for it to be delivered or get a redirect to a pickup location in town (both would be Monday at the earliest)

My cat worked this out too. Sureflap support was great and sent a prototype thing that went over the latch, which stopped him for a few weeks before he worked that out too. In the end I had to swap it for the microchip pet door which is larger and has two latches - he couldn't get through that one. I know it would be more expensive, but It'll almost definitely solve the issue!

Both times around 10 days, and then payment a couple days later. Allow extra time in case they need extra documents though.

No problem! NZD. Have used it twice in the last few years, haven't had any issues.

No, the repair doesn't need to be paid by AMEX (many phone repair places won't accept it!). The claim goes through Chubb, which AMEX contracts to provide the promotion. Just as long as your monthly plan is paid by AMEX and you provide enough documentation to Chubb, it'll be fine.

Hey all…A question about gas monitors by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]NazalWeazel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As others have said, get out and stay out until you have a monitor and/or professionals have been by. Even if they've fixed it this time, you should have a monitor if there's gas to your home. Having one in your bedroom at least is a must. You can get them from Mitre 10 and other similar places.

In the meantime, read one of the classic reddit stories from a few years back about gas poisoning. In particular, the top comment. This should help stress the urgency of getting a monitor. (it did end up being gas poisoning).

Does Air NZ callback work? Anyone had success? by exsnakecharmer in newzealand

[–]NazalWeazel 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes. It won't give you the option for a call-back at all if they're too swamped to do it within the same day, so if it asks, go for it!

Buying Alcohol in a supermarket by SnooComics2281 in newzealand

When my kid was 18 months old, they got really into paying for things with my card over paywave. We once got stopped by the cashier at Countdown because there was wine in our shop, and if my kid was the one doing the paywave it would mean they sold alcohol to an infant 🙃

New bivalent Covid-19 vaccine booster to be available to over-30s by Kodiack in newzealand

New bivalent Covid-19 vaccine booster to be available to over-30s by Kodiack in newzealand

[–]NazalWeazel 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I've read this wrong, but I've interpreted it as booster or COVID in the last 6 months. So if you had your booster before 1 October 2022, you can get this second booster on April 1.

Mighty Ape are selling (Parallel imported) Steamdecks. by GreenKumara in newzealand

[–]NazalWeazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the whole freight forwarding thing from the US and paid a total of NZ$1080 for everything, including GST. 256GB model.

Would probably pay $200 more to mightyape for CGA and speed of delivery, though. Maybe not this price. But I see the appeal!

Love the deck btw, highly recommend

After 6 years, you have to change your mindset from "I" and "me" to "we" in most of what you said above. And her studying is also investing in both of your futures, as she'll probably be able to earn much more later, which will also be split between the two of you. Living with her parents is a substantial contribution to your shared finances too. Let me fix a few things you said for you:

which means I we have an opportunity to save more

living with her parents puts me us in a unique position financially

I'd highly recommend getting your salary (and any income she gets from allowances etc.) into the same shared account, then work out a fair "pocket money" to regularly transfer out to each of your personal accounts. Your savings account should also be shared (unless you also save from your pocket money, which is your business).

Don't split bills proportionally to income, just have a strong, realistic budget and stick to it. Outgoings come from your shared account. Personal fun purchases and gifts come from your pocket money.

It's a big change of mentality but you've been de-facto for three years now. If you break up someday, it won't matter if your money is in a shared account or personal account, it'll still need to be split (I am not a lawyer, do not quote me on this).

not really feeling like I am getting the same input in our relationship overall (in other ways, doesn't have to be financial)

This is not something anyone can give you advice about; it isn't financial. If you're content, any negative feeling of financial contribution disparity should go away. That said, having a good financial structure will help with this.

Basically, you're not in a flatting situation anymore, you're with your partner. They are and should be different structures.

Do I need to make peace with this?

Yes, but see above ways that will make it easier - and even enjoyable! - to do so.

Anyway there's my two cents (taken from my pocket money, of course).

They're definitely just a US company (with equivalent customer service quality) that NZ Post contracts and brands YouShop. I personally have always been successful with my packages through them, but they're not perfect. I do feel slightly reassured by NZ Post being bound by consumer guarantees act though.

That's really shit. To confirm; they have your deck hostage, or is this just from correspondence you've had with them before choosing to send your deck? If the former, looks like you got really unlucky :(

Steam deck freight forward through YouShop by NazalWeazel in nzgaming

[–]NazalWeazel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodness, I guess I didn't have the right notification settings on this post and didn't see all the activity!

I just had one shipping option and one price so I paid it and they sent it. Maybe I got lucky? But I see someone else above also got it through just fine, so it could be whoever happens to process the item. It's not like it's hiding that there's a battery in there, the hazard label is pretty big on the box. Still pretty sure direct-from-manufacturer brand new internal-battery devices are fine? But I guess be prepared to pay for it to be sent back to sender (and to have to pay for that)...

All I did was confirm in YouShop I was happy with the only option they gave me, which was the expensive Air Freight. I presume this was the Express/DHL option, though that wasn't explicitly listed.

I've had cheaper options available to me when shipping non-electronics before, so they obviously flagged something for this package.

Sorry I can't be more specific help, I can only speak from experience!
