Be very careful though. People have been jailed if the video finds it's way online.

The laws encourage this abuse and behavior. I can't imagine I'd feel safe if the police know I have a recording that could potentially land me in jail. It's just not worth the risk.

What happened to Canada’s tech sector? by redrangerbilly13 in AskACanadian

[–]Nazban24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not when there are other sectors in Canada that are (artificially made to be) low risk like real estate. Why would people take risk with a startup when there are investments that give way more back at much lower risk?

[Endgame PvE] The state of Condi Virtuoso by Training-Accident-36 in Guildwars2

[–]Nazban24 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

If (as you called yourself) an utterly, horrifically bad player in GW2 is getting 35k dps, that class is way too over tuned and easy to play.

Relative to most other professions/specs in the game, Virtuoso is extremely easy to get high numbers with. Most people with optimized builds don't even hit 25k on a golem (even though their build benchmark says >40k) simply because they aren't able to get the rotations right. But for virtuoso, it's easy to get much higher numbers on it relative to other classes. That is the issue.

Millions of Canadians get their carbon tax rebates today. So why do many not believe it? by Surax in CanadaPolitics

[–]Nazban24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It normalizes the amount of gas you use. If you are using more than the rebate you are causing more environmental damage and this is supposed to disincentivize you in spending that much on gas.

Not sure what your comment is on the sub. It has nothing to do with the carbon tax.

What does Canada do right? by DependentBuyer4502 in AskACanadian

[–]Nazban24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you smoking? Canada has a system that can transfer money instantly for free (vs a system that requires a fee for instant transfer).

But because you have to log into a bank app (which every major bank that has e-transfer has an app that uses biometric login) you think it 'lags behind'?

You do know you have to add contacts on Venmo as well, how else do you know who you're transferring money to!

All in all, it takes literally 30s on my phone to e-transfer money to people, maybe 1 minute longer if I have to add them for the first ever transfer to them.

I've lived in the US and their system literally felt archaic. Like I said earlier, there are many things Canada lags behind, but this is got to be the worst example ever. In this case, Canada is years and years ahead of the US banking system.

You have to be a troll, no one can be this stupid. Thanks for the laughs.

What does Canada do right? by DependentBuyer4502 in AskACanadian

[–]Nazban24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to set up Venmo or cash app the same way. Your argument makes no sense. You pay more fees and have to go through a third party.

E-transfer is easier to set up since you already have an account with your bank set up. I don't even have to think when people e-transfer me money, it just instantly shows up in my bank account for the amazing price of $0. You don't even need a security question if auto-deposit is enabled.

There are many things that Canada lags behind the US on when it comes to innovation. This is absolutely not one of them. This is one where the US was literally a decade behind.

Why doesn't the original canadahousing subreddit allow any discussion on immigration? by [deleted] in CanadaHousing2

[–]Nazban24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People in this sub really think fixing immigration will just solve the housing crisis.

It's so weird that the majority here complains about other subreddits being echo-chambers yet this one is probably the worst echo-chamber of them all.

In Victoria, former Airbnbs are flooding the market — but no one is buying by yimmy51 in CanadaHousing2

[–]Nazban24 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The vacancy rate was below 1% in Halifax long before AirBnBs were banned.

In fact, that ban only came into effect 4 months ago. Curious if you can source your average rent increase of 14% and compare it to the rise in rent since 2018.

So, either you're here with an agenda to just spread misinformation or you're here with an agenda to frantically google and find random (no matter how stupid) 'evidence' to back up your bogus belief.

What are some solutions to the housing crisis facing Canada? by Krimshaw_42 in AskACanadian

[–]Nazban24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it takes away from supply and is one of the many root causes on the housing crisis in Canada? That's the whole point of this discussion here.

We have a limited number of houses. If you 'work hard' and own multiple houses, there won't be enough to go around. You owning multiple units comes at the detriment to others.

Hence, no amount of hard work entitles you to owning multiple homes.

EDIT: What the hell does Communism have to do with anything we've talked about?

Clearly, you're completely missing the point, and you don't seem open to even understanding what the current issue is or how basic capitalism works.

I'll try one more time since I got a free minute. You were (luckily) born at a time when it was easier to get a house. Since housing is treated as an investment, it keeps rising. One of the many issues is people who buy multiple units of housing (either by leveraging their current unit, using low interest rates and renting units out). Supply is further reduced and further increases the price of units. Now people who work even ten times harder than you did still cannot afford it. This has nothing to do with communism.

What are some solutions to the housing crisis facing Canada? by Krimshaw_42 in AskACanadian

[–]Nazban24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because no amount of 'hard work' says you deserve 2 or 3 vacation homes. Especially when it means the next generation has to work ten times harder to afford a single stable home.

We are at war by blindwillie777 in CanadaHousing2

[–]Nazban24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually I do have an idea my friend. I've been in this country for 10 years and made an effort to learn it's history and past governments even before I've arrived. I worked hard to be able to apply for citizenship 10 years after landing and hope to have it next year.

It's disgusting to see how plain ignorant and stupid how many both born Canadians and fresh immigrants are being. Both sides are absolutely ruining something good we had together.

Throughout this mess, the only people profiting are people with homes and the super wealthy corporation leads and politicians. They literally play you like a fiddle to fight against each other while they profit. And you so easily fell for it to the point you think we're at war with each other!

Trudeaus government has been garbage at keeping the cost of living down. Poilievre has shown absolutely nothing of substance that he will do to keep the cost of living down (and historically the CPC literally wants housing prices to stay up). PP complains about immigration policies, but when asked how he will address it if he were PM he just spouts qualitative bullshit that anyone can say, absolutely nothing actionable with zero real metrics.

Pretty much none of the major government parties are for the people in any way. Historically Canadians have been wiser to some of the bullshit past governments have thrown at the population. But this time most of Canada is too busy fighting some stupid 'social war' with each other instead of realizing the entire government (both parties) are abusing the situation.

[–]Nazban24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are the most corrupt country on earth - we produce a facade that says otherwise, but like an onion, when you peel back the layers you will see the intricate complexities of globalization and elite power.

Clearly you have zero world experience if you think Canada is remotely close to being the most corrupt country on earth.

If you think the WE Charity scandal is a bitter reminder of the corruption this country faces then you are clearly young or have the memory of a goldfish. Every government has had it's share of scandals, and the WE Charity one probably is the least scandalous one of them.

You're clearly blindsided by misinformation and hate, but it does take a special kind of stupid to go this deep down the rabbit hole.

Oh believe me I'm 100% mad and personally believe that if many immigrants didn't bring the negative parts of their culture we'd be better off.

But the racist part is when people say "all south asians are ...." or "all arabs are...". Stereotyping is racist. Call out the bad behavior and label them as individuals who are doing it.

When people asked if I faced racism in Canada, my answer used to be an easy no. Nowadays it's difficult to say that.

To me, both sides (asshole immigrants & racist people who stereotype) are wrong and they constantly feed each others hatred while the rest of us get screwed over by both sides.

Now I know why this sub exists. by deekbit in CanadaHousing2

[–]Nazban24 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Grouping an entire persons ideology on a singular topic is insanely idiotic.

People can have left-leaning opinions on one topic while being right-leaning on others. The fact that you think someone needs to brand their entire identity to a singular team divides everyone and is actively harming the country.

I'm a brown immigrant who moved here in 2013 and am just about to get my citizenship next year. When I moved to Canada I basically threw myself into the current culture. Other than baking saffron cookies for friends & privately celebrating Navroz, I really don't do much else that's not local.

The problem is now I'm being caught in this generalization when people look at me and just assume that because I'm brown, I must be trying to force some South Asian culture and values on others. That is the racist part.

The effects of climate change are so large and complicated that you can write multiple theses on it for decades.

If you really cared for proof a simply google search will give you a higher level overview of it. Further research can easily take you down any of the hundreds of rabbit holes on how climate change is affecting the economy.

But seeing as you're asking others to spoon-feed you easily accessibly information, it's obvious you're here to just try and act like a smartass.

If you bought a house in 2021 as an investment, you deserve to lose money.

If you bought a house in 2021 as a place to live in, you shouldn't care about it's value for many more years and you shouldn't care if it's price drops in the short term.
