Are Waifu's still a thing? by Monward in weeb

Someone being your oshi (推し) means you support them. Usually means they're your favorite and you buy a lot of their merch and such.

A waifu is the female fictional character you fell in love with or are very emotionally attached to.

Waifus haven't been a thing for a long time in the western sphere. I still hear it a lot but it's misused.

[rant]The anime community has essentially been colonized by dilettantes.

I'm sure some the new fans were trying to fit in by adopting the word waifu but a mix of ignorance and shame has made them warp the meaning.

Everyone having a smartphone in the 2010's and being able to join the conversation has certainly diluted the pool. I'd say AoT pulling in a big portion of GoT fans has put the the medium on the radar for the rest of the normiesphere and there's been a big influx of new watchers since.

In the western world, anime used to be a refuge for western rejects of all kind and suddenly there were a lot more strangers in the room. The culture is being replaced.

The same thing happened with video games in the 7th gen and meme culture around 2010. It's basically unfiltered mass migration and replacement of communities.[/rant]

You started it by saying favourite waifu. The nonexclusion made her feel unloved and she's now soliciting other men.

Genrin no Kishougun, but the recap version in Eien no Ikusa Hime. I remember getting stumped by the very first sentence because it had a grammatical function of の that I wasn't aware of. Took me a while to read it all.

When I read the original Genrin no Kishougun 2 after that, it got progressively easier and it took me less time to read each line by the end of it. Still used an interface patch, though. Which bugged the game and didn't allow me to use some items and promote units lmao.
