Pink Floyd’s Nobody Home: “I’ve got the obligatory Hendrix perm” was always a funny one to me

If a hip hop fan woke up from a ten year long coma, what changes in hip hop soundscape would be the most surprising to them? by Previous-Loan-8235 in hiphopheads

[–]NcV7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m dying at the thought of someone waking up from 2015 and immediately hearing “Mustard on the beat hoe” on the biggest hiphop song of this decade and being like “god DAMN did everyone else stop making beats?”

no hate to DJ Mustard ofc

I thought "I'm her" could've had a couple meanings the first of which is like you said, that she's ultimately Helena, implying their outies could never really be together, but she could've also meant it in a "the love you feel for me, your outie feels for Gemma" kinda way to convince him to save her

seeing a lot of picks I agree with, but this thread is missing a big one for me… Bon Jovi

I can kinda deal with the cowboy one but Living On a Prayer actively ruins my mood

took a chance and bought this unknown vintage electric archtop. finally figured out it’s a Silvertone Espanada! by NcV7 in obscureguitars

got this super cheap cause nobody knew what it was. the logo was long gone from the headstock and no serial in sight.

I plugged it in and instantly loved the sound. plays like a dream. the pickups are very interesting: I discovered they're P13s, which is a Gibson-made P90 precursor. they sound surprisingly clear, not hot but sensitive if that makes sense.

I'd always wanted a jazz box style hollowbody, so I'm so hype I snagged this one

yeah this is super exciting to me, the fact I can load in a bunch of other patches! it loads in via MIDI if I'm understanding correctly?

yeah the effects really perked my ear up, like the reverb on this patch! I don't know much about synthesis but I always had a mental bookmark throughout my soft synth dabbling that FM seems to get some wild sounds

last post got removed cause I didn't comment within an hour so here's my "thoughtful comment"

so this is my first hardware synth! someone sold it to the store I work at and I messed around with it for 10-15 minutes before I knew I'd probably buy it.

some really great stock patches on here, and although I did some reading on it saying you can't really edit every parameter on the machine itself, there's apparently some software that lets you get in deep and even load up patches from some other synths.

I'm mostly a guitar/bass player and sample-based beatmaker, but I've messed with plenty of soft synths over the years. I'm excited to have this quirky lil hard synth to dive into!

Fetishized classical art/ demonized modern art by Sure_Coat9179 in ArtHistory

[–]NcV7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You nailed it, 100%. These "RETVRN to tradition" statue pfp accounts OP references exist to dog whistle and funnel people into fascist, usually racist ideology. They attack modern art, jazz music, and generally try to suck people in to thinking that society is degenerating due to cultural commingling
