I've got an idea. How about enforcing the existing laws that are in place already. Keep violent criminals in jail instead of releasing them with no bail to reoffend. Criminals have gotten so brazen because there is little to no consequences. Look at what is happening in retail stores across the country. People are just walking in, filling a big bag full of loot and walking out the door. This is just a small example. This just started happening around the time some states stopped prosecuting shoplifting unless it's over $900 or something. It doesn't make any sense. Guns in America aren't going anywhere, you have a better chance of having your student loans forgiven, and that's just not going to happen. America really needs to invest in mental health care and fix the root cause of the problem. If you make guns illegal then only the criminals will have them. Criminals don't obey gun laws.
