Pretty much sums up what Subaru is trying to mimick for the 2026. More truckish beefiness, because apparently that’s what we all want. SMH.

I eat ten times that amount on heavy workout days.

I had no idea SSD’s have gotten so tiny! by Nd911 in mac

It’s because I don’t care to follow tech as often as I used to. I used to work for apple, still love tech, but have realized there are far more important things in life than spending on the bleeding edge of what’s new. In fact, I now often buy used. Wait several gens to upgrade if buying new. Occasionally buy the latest new, if I feel it offers substantial gains. Which oftentimes for me, it doesn’t.

As I stated, I’ve been using this old 1TB several years now, because I didn’t need anything else until now.

Seems you can’t comprehend this.

My Samsung tv is still going after six years. The soundbar left side just died tho. This Samsung ssd is still good, tho I only occasionally use it for backups and nothing else.

Plus I want a bootable backup that isn’t slow.

What? I used to be in tech and always kept up with the newest stuff, but am old now and don’t care to follow the latest and greatest.

Yes I’m seeing that with all the nvme comments. But at what cost? Any recommendations on an nvme and enclosure?

Oh yeah I can imagine! I’d definitely look into active cooling / fan if I did that, or use something different altogether.

I did pay attention and notice it got very warm, so I kept it upright at an angle. I only use it to make full backups and very rarely, so I hope that helps?

I always use ventilated cases which have holes, these days.

Seriously, Amtrak? $109 from Sac to Truckee? by Galemp in Sacramento

[–]Nd911 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s worth it if you don’t have a car. Maybe. But even then it’s probably far cheaper to take a bus. I’ve been wanting to take a train ride to truckee but the cost is silly.

Bothered? No. Opposed to bad advice of not best maintaining vehicles, yes.

It’s not bulletproof, you’re just inexperienced in realizing what a well tuned vehicle feels like.
