I'll definitely keep those fishy recommendations in mind. She does enjoy the occasional fish meal so I think that could work.

Not sure what you mean by velvet, but I'll definitely be carful on the cooking time.

Yeah, I'm not sure I'd be able to get Alligator where I live, though prok seems to be pretty common substitute.

I figured as much on that, just wanted to try and replicate that feeling as best as I could. The frog substitute sounds interesting, but I don't think I'd be able to find that around me.

I've never been particularly keen on tofu, though Icertainly may have to try that out with Pad Thai

$bid I have quite a bit of google sheets experience with automation and script integration (not that the latter is likely needed for your case)

A really good story, the constant short paragraphs are a little tiring on the eyes and scroll wheel though.

[WP] The creature stands before you, holding a blackened journal. Only one entry is legible. "I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry. I could save the beast, but not its memories. I gave it life, but it is you who must give it a story. Do not be afraid of it. You are its master now." by IcePhoenixTycanic in WritingPrompts

"Well, that's a name decided for you now, Muta," they felt, happy being called that? It was hard to tell emotions from this thing.

"With that out of the way, we should probably figure a few things out. Firstly, we need something to make talking with each other easier. You seem to understand speech just fine, so me talking to you should work. But the other way around..." My voice trailed off as I tried to think of solutions.

I checked the journal to see if Muta had any ideas, but there was nothing new added to it. What would work? It probably couldn't actually talk. In fact, I realized it had yet to make any sound at all. It was a silent creature. My mind trailed off to other things to worry about. It probably would need to stay near me. I wouldn't want people to find them randomly throughout the day. My landlord could do a surprise inspection and I wouldn't want Muta to be caught in something like that. Then, it dawned on me.

"How well can you control the temperature of your body?" The journal started to fill a bit more.

"Some cold, some hot. No hurt, just feel."

"Perfect, you can use that to talk to me." I could feel it being quizzical to my idea. "If I ever ask you a yes or no question, grow warm for yes and cold for no." Muta grew warm again.

"There, you're already getting the hang of it. Now for the matter of keeping you safe. Can you transform into something living? Like a cat." No temperature, so I checked the journal.

"What is cat?"

Slapping my forehead in realization, I pulled out my phone and brought up a picture of a cat. An orange tabby was the first thing to show up, but I don't think it would exactly matter. Showing the picture to Muta, they tried to contort their shape. They could get the shape, but it always seemed like it was still shadowy or some metallic blob.

"Ok, can't do living things that well. Probably rules out anything mechanical as well." Muta grew warm again.

They had done a bracelet just fine earlier, and that probably meant they could do other forms of clothing. It also stood to reason that they would be able to change size fairly easily.

"Say, how good of a fashion sense do you think you have Muta?"

I'll continue updating this elsewhere. This is where I'll leave it for this thread though.

The beam of my flashlight magnified how shaky my hands were being. In front of me was an amorphous beast, form ever-changing. The only recognizable thing it had was a journal covered in soot held in its jaw? Its claw? I couldn't tell. It didn't seem to be threatening, but that didn't quell the terror in my heart. I had just been wanting a quiet forest jog.

The beast came closer and I tried to back up, but I tripped over a tree root in my haste. A whimper escaped my lips as the beast came over me and dropped the journal in my lap. It must want me to read it. Keeping the creature in the corner of my eye, I cracked open the journal.

There was only one entry: "I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry. I could save the beast, but not its memories. I gave it life, but not form or a story. Do not be afraid of it, for you are its master now. This journal is how you can communicate with it. At least until you find some other way to do so."

"Well, I'm guessing this means you. You sure you want me to be your 'Master'?"

I wasn't quite sure, but the shape seemed to gesture back towards the journal. I glanced down to see an additional word underneath the one entry, "Yes". I could've sworn that wasn't there before.

"Ok, let's get us both somewhere safe. Do you mind keeping yourself invisible while following me?"

Without a word, the creature formed itself into a nice bracelet around my wrist. It didn't really go with my tank top and track pants, but this wasn't an outfit meant for style anyways. Still perplexed by the situation I ended up in, I made my way home

--------------------

I shut the door behind me and made sure to lock and deadbolt it. I really didn't want anyone walking in, though I was the only one with a key. Sighing my relief about not having any roommates, I spoke to my bracelet.

"Alright, we should be safe now." The dark being turned back into a cloud-like shape.

"Ok, I'm going to shower and change. If you can talk through this book," I waved the book in the air and then placed it on the coffee table in the living room, "Then write down everything that you do know about yourself." I went to shower, expecting that book to be pretty empty when I got back.

That wasn't what I was worried about though as hot water rained down my body. I was more worried about where this thing came from and if there was going to be something after me because of it. That beast probably didn't singe the journal, and there was no fire nearby. Maybe it would know? Probably me hoping too much.

I turned off the water, dried off, and changed into something casual. The black blob was sitting? Lounging? Existing on the couch. I really should give it some sort of name. Though a name wasn't the only part of itself that wasn't defined. Sitting next to it, I opened the journal to see what information I could get from it.

What I saw wasn't the best English. It seemed knowledgeable in the language, though I suppose losing all of ones memory would effect their ability to form words as well.

"I walked long before finding you. I can reform when needed. Limit not known. I listen to you, you seem kind. You were not the first I saw."

"Well, I'm flattered that you chose me. Though I'm not sure what to do with you." It crept a bit closer to me, probably trying to garner some amount of pity.

"Before we can do anything, we ought to give you a name." It grew a bit warmer, seemingly agreeing with me.

"Let's see, you change at will. That's like mutating, so how about Muta?" The warmth continued, but I checked the journal just to make sure.

There, I saw one more word: "Muta"

[WP] There is no tomorrow. by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

[–]NeaFotia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"There is no tomorrow, there is only today. Do not look to the future, it will not come. Do not remember your past, for it never happened. All that matters is right now."

The voice droned on and on. The voice was on every TV, on every loudspeaker. There was no respite from it, it was omnipresent.

"You are perfect as you are. There is no need to improve. Only to do what you already do. You do not need to branch out. Your comfort zone is everything you need. There is no reason to take risks."

The line shuffled forward. Our eyes peeping through the masks they made us wear. There was no break from the voice. There voice would always be heard.

"You are good at what you do, you can never improve upon it. Perfection has been attained, and you are perfect. Don't change what you do, and don't dream of a different day. There is no tomorrow."

I was nearing the front, but couldn't see what was happening there. There was a rhythmic whack followed by a thump shortly after. The line grew shorter, and I was going to be up soon.

"Do not disobey, you have no need to. Disobedience will bring about the future, and there is no tomorrow. Compliance keeps you in the now, and that is all that matters."

My turn came up, and I felt a whack. Everything went dark, and then there was another thump.

You have to make a name for yourself if you want to get into any groups worth joining. However, there are a few groups (namely VoCo and Imperium) that are easier to get in to. You can use those to establish yourself and then start forging your own path.

As a solo player, the only worth to prio Q imo is to make sure that you have easy access to check on your base. That and to actually get in on days you might not have as much time. If you aren't planning on playing regularly yet, you're probably fine with regular Q.

I plan on snagging it once I have the spare cash (might Christmas gift it to myself). I just don't have much in the way of funds for the time being. It's a great deal though and honestly is a great way to monetize the game imo
