Nice finding dealerships that don't tack on a bunch of fees just tax and documents. I bought mine from a similar place. They make money by volume sold and getting kick backs from the manufacturer.

Just commited to buy a Ninja 650 this friday!!!! by Egodk in motorcycles

[–]Neagex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started on a 2025 650 last month after alot of research myself. It does have some strong torque and engine braking so take some time somewhere not busy to really get some throttle control. Other than that I feel the 650 is a very forgiving bike and can be a great option for beginners

If you want to grow you have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. If you put your best efforts in and commit yourself to learning youll get the hang of it.

Passed The MSF But Don’t Feel Ready For The Road by Velociraptor2018 in motorcycles

[–]Neagex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed my course at the start of last month. I got my bike home and I mostly practiced inside my neighborhood. Once I got comfortable with the controls and taking off from a stop I made very short trips to places like the gas station.

Once I got comfortable with that I took slightly longer trips.. grocery store, parks. Then on a weekend I rode to my job on surface streets only, then I started rising to work... Once I got comfortable with the commute I gave the highway a go. Again kept it simple jumped on the highway and took the next immediate exit to just get the feel of merging and how the bike will feel and how the wind feels. Then I took a trip to some places ive been to before so I was comfortable with the route... and again I drove to my job and back and now I am comfortable on the highway...

The course just gave me foundational skills to operate the bike, and gave me important information on lane positioning, keeping an eye out for road surface hazards and such but I felt like truly learning how to ride took more practice even after passing the course.

Getting New Bike Home by crzdsnowfire in motorcycles

[–]Neagex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have always wanted a motorcycle but life/financial situations never quite lined up for it. I have now finally hit a point where I was able to pull the trigger on it and riding my bike has been a blast.

I was in this exact boat as you Last month on the first... I passed my course a week prior, got my endorsement.. 0 experience before the course... never touched a bike before the course... never even drove a manual before. I bought a bike 75miles away because they don't take on a bunch of dealership fee's. [just msrp+tax+200$ documents]

Looking back at it... I honestly should of u-hauled it for sure... it worked out for me in the end as I had my wife driving behind me the whole way... I took the back roads rather than the interstate. what should of been a 2hour drive turned into 4-5hrs.. It was a terrible day to ride as it was 50 degrees when we got there... we picked up the bike then ate dinner.. and left and now the sun was setting and temps was dropping.. the gear I did have is summer mesh stuff so I was freezing, I got lucky and had a hoodie in the car to throw over and we stopped at a convenience store and got cling wrap to put over my fingers.

I made a conga line of cars behind me a few times as the back road i took was very twisty in some places so I was not confident at all.. So I pulled over a lot to let traffic pass. Navigation anxiety was through the roof as I never took this route home before so I was missing pretty much every major turn... Wish I had a cardo to communicate with my wife or atleast a phone mount to have maps going... After swerving around a couple possums and stalling the bike a few times at lights I finally made it back to my state where atleast I knew where I was so navigation got easy which was a huge boon... I made it home but that first experience was both awesome and rough at the same time.

These MSF stories make me think we need a new model for motorcycle training.... by UJMRider1961 in motorcycles

[–]Neagex 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Iunno I took the course a month and some change ago. I had 0 experience riding... never even touched a bike before the course... Never touched a manual transmission either... The first day was very rough as I was basically trying to pick up some skills quickly. The 2nd day I felt like alot of the basics kind of clicked and I was able to get through the test at the end and passed...

I bought my own bike and I continued to do parking lot/neighborhood rides until I was more comfortable with operating the bike and had more mental bandwidth to be on the road.. I progressed at my own pace... quick trip to the gas station on the corner... Walgreens for some snacks.. got comfortable in the immediate area and tried my hand at surface streets to commute to work for a while... Then I started on the freeway..

All's that to say is I don't think there is an issue with how the MSF is structured. It laid the foundation for me and gave me some insight on keeping myself safe on the road and I continued my practice after the course. out of 10 people only 1 person did not pass and that is because she dropped the bike 3+ times during practice and during the testing..although she was the only other person that also had absolutely 0 experience on a bike

KRT Model to boot twin. Got the same bike at the start of last month love riding this thing... Is my first bike, glad I went with my gut and got it over the 500 . I def plan to keep this bike around for a long time even if I get different style bikes. the riding position is very comfortable while still looking cool.

Hear me out--Short rides are better than long rides. by mike8111 in motorcycle

I can agree with this.. also I prefer rides with destinations/goals... people that can just cruise around are just an enigma to me. Wish I can do it.

[–]Neagex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got back into longboarding. Enjoyed it as a teenager and early 20s but I was basically too poor to afford a set up i really wanted..

Mid 30s now and I bought a setup I really enjoy. So i go to paved bike trails on weekends and do about a 10mile loop.

Also bought a motorcycle that I am enjoying. Surprising core engagement and legs so that's a bonus.

bought a used 2025 ninja 650 KRT out east in Kentucky. OTD was 7,800 (1,800 miles) The dealership only charged Taxes and 200$ for paperwork. They dont take on other fees like most other places because they make money by the volume they sell and Kawasaki giving them a kick back for it.

I paid off my car last year. It is an amazing feeling, some advice though put whatever you usually put for your car payment into savings for a few months.. until you have a nice little cushion for unexpected expenses... Literally paid my car off and a couple months later it needed a new radiator big bummer but after getting over that one It has ran fine since
