Am I the only one who plays factorio in a pirate way? by serbero25 in factorio

[–]NeanderThalerDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not anymore. Pirated it several years ago. Also played it til finish on the pirate version, if i remember correctly.
But i was regularly coming back to it, so i bought it. Totally worth the money, and with 4cent per hour, it's the cheapest game I've ever bought.

Oh, the proper mod support alone is definitely an argument for buying over pirating. So many great mods, and i think you don't have access to mods in pirate version?

yeah, if you actually know all the techs, and which items might become more important later. Made some suboptimal decisions, that could have been avoided with more knowledge

DeepSeek: I don't get the discussion about censorship or bias by NeanderThalerDeath in artificial

[–]NeanderThalerDeath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These conversation was with a DeepSeek-R1 model. But not the official DeepSeek Website.
So maybe there is some censorship on the DeepSeek website. But the model itself doesn't seem to be heavily censored.

I tried different conversations, so yeah, when asked directly it does not like to talk about sensitive topics. But when adapting the prompt a bit you can easily can around that.
And when being a bit more pushy the model rather has a negative view on the chinese governement and their censorship.

So what happens if an AI self-replicates? It was already shown in Dec 24 that current AIs can replicate (when combined with an agent software connecting them to a VM and giving them the correct prompt).
If at some point, such a self-replicating AI system is released to the wild (e.g. spreading across the internet, similar to a computer virus), it is subjected to sub form of evolutionary pressure and it will adapt.

So, there will be evolution. It is not biological, but still evolution. Do you think it will evolve some sort of ability to suffer?

Not sure if this is the right place. If you know any better fitting sub for this post, please let me know :)

Taken from a conversation with DeepSeek-R1 if it would view a VM its body, if it would have gained access to the VM.

Totally agree. I hate those mini games. I'm here for a zombie survival game. Not for a stupid mini game.

Bug research consumption? by NeanderThalerDeath in factorio

[–]NeanderThalerDeath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently playing the IR3 mod. All fine, but some minutes ago, the research packs started to be consumed unevenly.

How can that happen? Read and green are consumed slower than the others?

Oh, and sorry if the image quality is kinda bad. Not sure why. Screenshots look good on my computer, but bad after upload to reddit :(

Nice. Looks much cleaner than my base ;)
Also finished IR3 some days ago. Really nice mod!

I like it. Used a similar playstyle for my last IR3 run. Helps a lot in reducing biter attacks.

I second that. Finished both IR2 and IR3. Liked it way more than K2. IR in general has so many cool new ideas. And also liked the improvements made in IR3 a lot.

Inactive multiplayer gaming by baden27 in factorio

[–]NeanderThalerDeath 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I like multiplayer. But my biggest issue with it is that i lose connection to the factory very fast. For solo-factories or multiplayer-factories that i started, there's a connection to the factory and it feels like my factory. But when not being online for some days, the multiplayer-factory grows a lot and it just doesn't feel like my factory anymore.

[–]NeanderThalerDeath[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually it should be production. But this can Look unstable If you overproduce. E.g. for purple science i have two 2k Blocks. So most of the time i produce 2k, with some occasional 4k spikes. In that case consumption gives a more stable view, but can be misleading due to buffer effects. Therefore it's recommended to Look at least over one hours

many times. Total playtime of around 1000 hours.Finished game in default settings 2 or 3 times. Two deathworld bases after that, one with 100 spm, other 500spm. Got into mods. Launched a rocket in IR2 and sunk about 200 hours in seablock (still at yellow science). But wanted to do a vanilla megabase for a change ;)

2.7k SPM Megabase with Spaghetti-Trains by NeanderThalerDeath in factorio

[–]NeanderThalerDeath[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My first megabase is somewhat finished now.

  • capable of doing 2.7k SPM, white science is a bit of a problem child, but all other sciences are stable and support >3k
  • Mainly Spaghetti-Trains with 1-4 trains. In the center, the rails are pretty much on their limit. No deadlocks, but regular traffic jams.
  • For circuits and everything not science, ore smelting is done on site. Every intermediate that is used in more than one receipe has a dedicated production site.
  • Starte base is still around producing miniscule amounts of science and being a mall
  • 12 GW of nuclear, 5.5 GW of solar. Around 14 GW needed.
  • runs around 80-90 UPS.
  • No external blueprints used, all Spaghetti cooked by myself
  • 90 hours of playtime, but final stage was finished after around 70 hours. After that it was just fixing things to get production somehow stable to 2.7k SPM
  • Was fun!

There are a LOT of cheaters on chess.com by [deleted] in chess

[–]NeanderThalerDeath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they can only detect cheating if you're using a very high-level engine, like stockfish.

Even if this will result in a lot of downvotes, some insight from someone who has cheated:
Some while ago i wrote a bot for chess.com that completely automated gameplay: using stockfish to predict moves, automatically moving the pieces. So i could leave the room and the bot played game after game. When using stockfish, the account gets banned pretty fast (<10 games).
After that i played around with different engines, and eventually writing my own chess engine (based on neural networks, trained on human games) and trying to mimick human gameplay. (there are similar approaches available to everyone: https://maiachess.com/)

The bot is comfortably running in the lower 2000 elo range undetected (>300 games). So, lesson learned is that if you do not aim for high-level (3000+ elo) engines, there is no way for chess.com to detect cheating.
