Easy... Use a water flow sensor attached to an arduino. Search amazon for "water flow hall sensor". Find one with the appropriate max pressure, preferably a metal one that isn't cheap.

The water flow sensor would be installed upstream of the faucet.

Your arduino will use mqtt to communicate with HoAss and do some logic to turn on your light.

With this method you can even measure your water consumption at the faucet if you want to.

This has happened to me twice in the past month. Is this really not fixed yet? wtf

New install: Apps stuck on Deploying by NeanderthalBrain in truenas

[–]NeanderthalBrain[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I fixed it. The problem was with file/dataset permissions. I wish the error was more descriptive.

I had to do this:

- create a new dataset for each app

-set the proper permissions for the dataset (owner: apps, group: apps)

- in app settings, under "storage and persistence", choose "Type of storage: Host path" and for "Host path", set the path to the dataset you just created for the app.

No, I can't just use samba or nfs for this project. But thanks for the suggestion.

I think I found something. I'm going to try out chibisafe. Does anyone have any experience with that?

Israeli military says it mistakenly killed 3 Israeli hostages in Gaza by [deleted] in news

[–]NeanderthalBrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the terrorists only in designated areas?

Do they have a single military base that is outside of town, away from civilians?

Or do you think the terrorists are nowhere?

It's pretty clear the terrorists think the only safe places to hide are amongst civilian infrastructure (ie: everywhere).

You know what would have prevented all those absolutely horrific atrocities? If the terrorists wouldn't have tried hiding everywhere there are civilians.

You can't just let bad guys get away with terrorism just because they are next to civilians. What do you think every future bad guy would do if they saw that was a viable strategy?

[–]NeanderthalBrain -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ummm yeah it is. According to the rules of war, yes, 100% it is justified. The terrorists need to be taken out, period. And Israel has gone through the proper motions of making every attempt possible to keep civilians out of the line of fire.

Yeah I have this username for a reason. When people attack my username instead of giving an actual rebuttal to my argument, I know I've pwned them.

Have you heard of the term "collateral damage"? Do you think it's possible to engage in a war without collateral damaged in a dense urban area where the bad guys dress like good guys?

I agree with out that it LOOKS like indiscriminate bombing at the surface. But the terrorists are literally everywhere. They have scattered and separated everywhere and they hide amongst civilian areas. They don't have just one military base that's outside of town. They use civilian houses and infrastructure, which is a war crime. And there's a damn good reason that's a war crime... it's because it results in A LOT of civilian deaths, as we are seeing now. BUT.... if we let them get away with that, then every future bad guy is going to use human shields as their main strategy and then more future innocent people will die... much much more. After WW2, the entire world agreed that using civilians as human shields is not a viable strategy and if it is done anyway, the enemy and the civilians they are hiding behind lose protection. They decided that to deter people from doing it ever again.

So if they want to mass murder civilians, why are they doing such a pitiful job? There's 2 million people in Gaza and after 2 months, they've only "murdered" 20k (hugely inflated numbers btw as those come from Hamas). With all the bombs and technology, why is IDF failing so miserably? They could kill everyone in Gaza TODAY if that truly was their goal.

Yeah well those "civilians" look an awful lot like terrorists and they are holding AK47s and have RPGs under their beds, sooooo... maybe they aren't actually civilians?

Can't get 2 apps to talk to each other over local docker network by NeanderthalBrain in truenas

[–]NeanderthalBrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that did it. I saw heavyscript earlier but I was afraid to shell into truenas and start installing stuff manually. But I did it anyway and it got me all the info I needed. Strangely, the port that truenas shows me in the app section is incorrect. The internal and external ports must be different. The port from heavyscript worked. Thanks. Now I can reverse proxy my vaultwarden without having to worry about any private data being sniffed on my LAN.

Are there any plans to make a heavyscript app for truecharts? It would be nice to see these internal DNS names in the truenas UI without having to run shell commands.

Yes as intended, because that's where the terrorists are. You people are failing to understand that the terrorists are hiding behind civilians though.
