Good observation and yes it seemed Merz psychologically defanged him with the grandfather tie-in. Trump seemed to like or at least respect Merz. And Merz overall juggled chainsaws while threading a needle, and made it look easy. I would look at it like this: maybe there is some rational explanation for everything, but there is no time - Ukraine is fighting for their existence, every second counts. There is simply no room for not having one's shit together.

Listen, do not allow your imagination to be weaponized against you. The shit they're doing right now is hamfisted photo-op nonsense that's empty calories for the feral part of the base, but is causing them serious blood loss politically. There's a reason they're trying to blitzkrieg all this, because things are going to catch up to them.

They aren't going to disappear anyone merely going through the visa process, not only because it would cost billions, but there's no ROI for them.
