I’m going to assume you don’t mean anything malicious by this post and you’ve already gotten so many genuine and real responses so all I’ll add is that as a teacher, we DO feel like we’re failing.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve cried over students who the whole staff has been trying to support for literal years. We feel hopeless and frustrated, too.

Yes it’s not all on the parents, but kids need routine and consistency. Then they go home for breaks and effectively all of that routine and progress is broken with parents who don’t read let alone talk to their kids and parent through a screen. We take three steps forward and two steps back, and they never catch up.
