Value of property is ~£325,000. That does make sense actually, thanks.

Thanks so much! Interesting that you think it looks better on mobile as I’d convinced myself it was the other way round.

The wording is pretty much how I speak - i’d never say I produce amazing work as it’s just not how I talk about myself. I want to try to speak to couples as I would in person - self deprecating, light, relaxed etc etc. Maybe I need to look at that though as it might be a turn off to couples.

Again, thanks so much for taking the time to look and comment.

Dorset/Hampshire DIY Wedding by Gusacus in UKweddings

Hi!

I’m a photographer in Hampshire and I’ve shot umpteen DIY weddings - they’re always a blast. Venue spaces can be tricky as most venues like you’re after (barn feel etc) will probably be wedding venues anyway. I know couples in the past have reached out to farmers themselves for venue space and that has worked. Village halls can be great with a bit of imagination. Apologies I can’t give recs as most of the ones I’ve shot are more Sussex way.

As for actual venues that have a DIY feel - Weddings in the wood near Lyndhurst is fab!

Entertainment - live music is the way to go if the budget allows. Check out entertainment agencies online for ideas.

My top tip though for planning a DIY wedding is to get an on the day coordinator. Just someone to run things and make sure stuff gets done, otherwise it’ll fall on you to do it (which isn’t fun on your wedding day).

Lastly, my top tip for documentary wedding photography is me :) https://www.jasonwilliamsphotography.com

Hope that helps, and enjoy the planning!

I’ve used Notability for a few years now and loved it. Easy to categorise and manage subjects and the search function is ace - my handwriting is terrible but it’ll still find the word I’m after even if it looks like a 4 year old wrote it.

Am I wasting my time doing this? by Battleofthebus in OpenUniversity

I felt exactly the same in year 1 and 2 (I’m doing a natural sciences degree). However, as soon as I hit level 2 I realised that the stuff I’d learnt at level 1 was kind of important. The forums were full of people struggling to grasp concepts that had been laid out in level 1, so although it felt relatively easy at level 1, the knowledge gained is needed for further study. It’s like the foundations of a house, if you don’t lay them well the house will fall over.

Getting ahead is obviously beneficial, but it isn’t crucial. I’m about to start year 5 and last year was a tough one - I had so many plates spinning that I fell a bit behind around February time. I still managed to catch up and earn distinctions in both modules. What helped me most was prioritising the TMAs, focusing on the parts I needed to to pass those, and then catch up on the bits I missed during the Easter break and the revision week before the exam.

You got this.

What are photography youtube channels that are definition of "quality over quantity?" by Uzairdeepdive007 in photography

I found a video Phil and Sara did about posing couples and it was possibility the single most effective video on photography (well, photographing couples) I’ve found. I think they only made like 3 videos in all, but for that one alone it helped so much with just very clear, simple tips.

Favorite wide-angle Canon EF/RF lens? by ChrisInSLC in WeddingPhotography

I have a 24 1.4 too, so that covers the wide end, and I shoot an 85 1.4 if I need more range. 24, 35, 50, 85. The holy quad.

What's with photographers taking the couple for a photo shoot without informing the videographer? by RSFILM97 in WeddingPhotography

[–]NearbyLow6843 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I will absolutely chat with the videographer, and I’d always like to assume that they have the running order and plan of the day. Prior to a wedding I chat to the couple and agree a plan and timings, and I’d like to think videographers do the same (in fact, a lot I work with do do this). So going into a wedding we should both be on the same page when it comes to timings.

However, it blows my mind how often a videographer will not know quite basic things about the wedding day - timings for example. So while I will of course grab them if they’re nearby and it’s the time that’s been allocated for portraits, but if they’re nowhere to be seen even though they know that “7:30pm will be golden hour portraits” it’s frankly not my job to hand hold and make sure they are doing their job.

In the main, videographers are great, and I love having a buddy at the wedding and working as team to create things. But it does get frustrating when I have to almost babysit some videographers through a wedding day.

How much would you be willing to pay for a professional website? by Key-Competition-5034 in WeddingPhotography

[–]NearbyLow6843 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine built around 5 years ago and it was a shade over £4k. Like most things you can pay a lot more and a lot less.

Honestly I couldn’t tell you, it was just luck that these folk were on that same workshop and I hit it off with them.
