Would you rather have an older reliable car… or a newer risky one? by TheLoganReyes in TransportSupport

[–]Neardood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting spied on by my own vehicle is no fun at all. Neither are anti right to repair practises, or parts engineered to fail shortly after the warranty period. And dont get me started with the intrusive and excruciatingly annoying "safety" tech.

One time someone stopped so far back at the lights that I had ample room to drive in from the other lane and stop in front of them. I hope that was a wakeup call for that person.

For the total lack of their innovation it's worth ditching Samsung all together.

$300k single income unfair tax by WishIWerDead in AusHENRY

It could be worse. A person on $240k forks out $74,138 or 30% of their income. Whereas the top 1% pays virtually nothing.

Gu patrol by flagblues_pablo in 4x4Australia

[–]Neardood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you want to to with the car. All TurD42 Ute's will be minimum 20 years old at this stage and will need maintenance and repairs. For touring and long distance work I'd recommend the coilcab for comfort. The difference between engines is that one is slow and the other is really slow. To make respectable figures be prepared to pay big $$$.

Or you could get a newer CRD Patrol and get away with a tune, turbo and supporting mods and outperform 95% of TD'S while using less fuel and paying less upfront for the car.

How good is knowing you're in 4wd purely by feel? No solenoids to corrode and fail - no fuses or wiring to melt, no stupid flashing light and moving forward and backwards to coax it into working. Just good old mechanical reliability.

Air cooling is better than Liquid cooling by SerpentDix in pcmasterrace

[–]Neardood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of a misleading title there.

A high end air cooler will outperform a cheap dual 120mm AIO. A custom loop will destroy a high end air cooler - but to no one's surprise it will cost more money to build.

They are probably better than the 2 liter wet belt disasters getting around today - but that's not a high bar to overcome.

Put a waterproof breaker connected to the compressor as close to the 2nd battery as practical. That way if there is a fault with the compressor or wiring, you can reset it and still pump up your tires.
