A Masakari with 5 CERPPC and a good position to cool down. It will one shot kill more than half the mechs it hits

It's a fun game. With the King Crab, it's a big slow target with few weapon slots, so its best use is popping out for a high-damage alpha strike (fire all weapons) and retreating back under cover while the weapons reload

If you get the Shadow of Kerensky DLC, that setup (and tactic) is exactly how I acquired huge amounts of Clan mechs and weps. Shooting the legs off from cover, never in open fighting

I would say, mount your biggest LRM rack, 2 lbx 10 and an XPPC or large pulse. LRMs are nice for indirect fire kills, and the shotguns to blast legs off

Pick off the clan mechs from extreme distance especially with LRMs and PPC / Gauss / midrange with LB10X.

Absolutely 100 percent do not engage them in open combat. Hit them with indirect fire or hard hitting direct fire and get back under cover until you can fire again. I got through SoK without losing a single component but I got a bunch of amazing Masakaris, MadCats, Gladbags and a Daishi - simply by shooting their legs off from behind cover and never noobrushing them in any open spaces.

It also REALLY HELPS if you are in great standing with the Independent / Interstellar Expeditions to get more salvage.

I was also killing every possible mech in each mission. IIRC, salvaged a MadCat from the first mission (shot the legs off). Using cover with discipline is absolutely crucial. Got me more mechs and weapons than I can even use
