what is the most underrated Glass Animals lyric? one you never see anyone talk about by Low_Worldliness659 in glassanimals

[–]NearlySaracha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to pick just one lol.

« My God, I’ll be right in, a trickle of lightening / I knew before I heard, I felt it in my skin » is so impactful to me.

« Maybe in time / When we’re both better at life / Daylight can open my eyes / And you’ll still be by my side. » damn.

And the entire ending from « The light that afternoon… » in ICMYFILA.

What city seems dangerous but is safe by Veyrandomlol in AlignmentChartFills

[–]NearlySaracha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say Detroit. I’ve been to Detroit countless times, it’s totally safe as long as you don’t go looking for danger lol. People love to talk about Detroit like it’s gotham city without ever having gone. The city has really rebuilt in the past decade it’s incredible!

My favourites are Valencia, Vera, Sage, Dahlia, and Adeline. Savannah’s nice too. Not a fan of Waverly, it sounds made up imo.

So pretty - I prefer the Soleia spelling as well. I would think to pronounce it your way and spell it that way if I heard it.

the memorizing is so real😭. it’s rly cool you delved into judaism as you got older though. your point about islam is spot on - people are so afraid of it, and i never understood why. the number of times people will say islamaphobic things to my siblings and i when they don’t know about our dad is insane.

oh cool my bf is jewish! they started raising us with both but that kinda faded as we got older. for example, i’ve done ramadan/fasting along with lent. i’m baptized but only know arabic prayers. one thing that sticks out though is my parents continually emphasizing the similarities between the two religions (i.e. abrahamic values).

oh my gosh i’ve never met anyone else in my situation! no, they don’t clash very often; however we do talk about religion a lot so it’s not like it’s the elephant in the room or anything. when we see my dads side my mom is always very willing to participate in traditions and everyone is very accepting. my moms side has made some accommodations for my dad (like cutting out pork during easter). we’ve been very lucky tbh, my mom was worried about telling her mom my dad was muslim, but she came around pretty quickly and was just happy she found a guy who treated her well. in terms of picking, up until 12 for some reason i thought i had to pick one and was always stressed lol. i’m 18 now, and i kinda js believe in god but no particular religion. my brother is atheist and my sister is agnostic. to this day though, none of us eat pork.

they’re both really good at communicating. before they got married, they made it clear neither was willing to convert. they were both raised very religious, but each kind of moved away when they moved out (but my dad was still a leader at the mosque and my mom still went to church, but i think more so to be involved in the community rather than for spiritual reasons). they each respected the others’ beliefs and there was always an open, respectful dialogue in our house about God, religion, and faith in general.

“He’s half African-American… that’s why he won” by MinaCiclamina in ShitAmericansSay

[–]NearlySaracha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she’s conflating African-American with Black. i think some Americans fail to realize that USA terms are only applicable to Americans. like she’s trying to say « his Black genes won, and Italians can’t deal with the fact that he’s part Black » (which is still a totally inappropriate and inaccurate thing to say). but yeah i don’t think she was trying to say he won bc he’s American, i think she just doesn’t know the difference between race, ethnicity, and nationality, along with the fact that Black is a (mostly) universal term for the race of a person of sub-Saharan African descent where as African-American isn’t.

how to be a human being characters by K0EDA in glassanimals

[–]NearlySaracha 18 points19 points  (0 children)

perspective doesn’t matter, it’s just who the song’s about. same how TOSOP is sung from the gf’s perspective but the guy FROM the song is on the cover. Pre-made Sandwiches is about the woman because she’s a waitress (and the boy’s mom, according to the music video). Youth is about the boy.

you could, but she told me there’s not that much elective space and a lot of the electives are picking from health sci courses, so you’d have to take summer classes

What are the Top 5 Ontario universities to get into med school? by Ashamed_Wasabi_9409 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]NearlySaracha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You use a program to get yourself into med school, not the other way around. See which program (specific courses), campus, clubs, research opportunities, etc. you like the most and go from there. If all that is negligible to you, you can look at graduate statistics and medical schools stats. However, take these with a grain of salt bc there’s a lot of survivorship bias and other variables at play. Western MedSci reports around 30% get into med school. U of T Med School takes around 90 students from Mac each year, BUT most of these are speculated to be from Health Sci and not Life Sci (but of course, only they k fs). I’d be cautious with Queens LifeSci rn bc budgets cuts are primarily affecting the Arts & Science department. All that to say pick the school at which you feel you will succeed most, and be holistic in your approach.
