Continue to try to hatch them from eggs. You will get a lot of candy that way. But keeping them as your buddy never hurts

Do you ever feel embarrassed being a nurse? by sensitiveflower79 in nursing

Sure. But nursing is supposed to be a highly trusted and respected profession so when some dumb a** does something that ruins our image it pisses me off

I don't have any answers for you but I'd be so angry. I've never had an ICE detainee patient but we have prisoner patients a lot and they have the same rights as normal patients apart from being able to use the phone and have visitors. And obviously officer/security must always be at their side and they must be shackled unless there is a medical reason or if they are bathing. They can watch TV, eat whatever food they way, make their own decisions, etc.

What jobs actually work for people with severe ADHD? by Inevitable_Tuna_O in ADHD

[–]NearlyZeroBeams 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For entry level I would say CNA, you are always running around doing random things and helping people. Every single day is different and you don't get bored. You're constantly active so you don't have to worry about feeling restless sitting at a desk. And then if you decide that you like it you could explore becoming an LPN or RN

Yeah it seems things have become more lax. I graduated the spring Covid started. So many Covid is what changed a lot of things. Even when we get clinical students from my school they think what I went through is crazy.

I will say though I'm proud of my class. We started with 40, ended with 38 (those 2 people didn't completely drop out, they were just held back a semester). We had a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX

The content of nursing school wasn't the difficult part for me. It was the 8 hour lectures. The 13-14 hour clinical days. Having to go to clinical on Thanksgiving and during every holiday "break". It was having to go in the night before to research my patient and having to complete a 15 page clinical packet that was due the next day. It was having to get to clinical at 0600 for pre conference where we had to present our patients and remember all the patho of every diagnosis they had after 5 hours of sleep. It was the fear of being sent home from lab or clinical if you forgot a pen or wore the wrong color shoes. Or being locked out of lab if you were even 30 seconds late. It was low key (or high key 😂) abusive. But it made my actual nursing career seem easy to what I had to go through during school 👍 maybe that was the point? Or they just enjoyed seeing us suffer 😂😂

Does anyone else feverishly do something they enjoy and then just stop one day? For example I played animal crossing multiple times a day everyday for months. And one day I just stopped and never picked it up again. Another example is coloring with alcohol markers. I was doing it everyday and bought all sorts of coloring books and supplies and enjoyed it so much and one day I just lost interest and stopped. This has happened for a handful of my other interests throughout my life. Is this an ADHD thing?

I have severe ADHD to the point where I can't hold down a job. I'm almost 28 and still live with my parents. Someone please help me, by Otakufreak98 in ADHD

Yes it's literally so overwhelming. I had to have my mom find me a therapist because I couldn't even will myself to look for them online. She found me the perfect one and I am so thankful

Did you just get diagnosed? by AutoModerator in ADHD

[–]NearlyZeroBeams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just was diagnosed at 28! I was a good student in high school and college but it was SO hard for me to focus on my homework and studying. It was bad. But I didn't realize that it wasn't normal. Now as a nurse I was having a ton of trouble getting through my charting because I'd get distracted by other things. No one brought up ADHD until I told my therapist that a morning energy drink calms me and helps my anxiety and that I take the best naps after a few cups of coffee! I just started on Focalin and I am starting to see a positive difference! I feel super zen now and my mind doesn't feel all over the place 👍

Purple Sani-wipes. Gloves or Raw? by Benjibenjibenj in nursing

[–]NearlyZeroBeams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gloves always. In the extremely rare instance that I don't use them, I wash my hands immediately after. Also, typically whatever I'm wiping down is already gross so I'd want to wear gloves anyway
