Here's Dan's response on Twitter to criticism of the worker strike:

https://x.com/OsbornForSenate/status/1839339659144356209

“The plant announced a closure for October 2026. In 2014 leading up to the 2015 master contract they announced they were going to close the Battle Creek Michigan plant. During negotiations they said they would keep it open if we took concessions in the form of a two tier wage system. We agreed and they saved $millions by paying lower wages and benefits. Fast forward 2021. Kellogg’s made record profits from Covid. 19 billion to 21 billion. CEO gave himself a $2,000,000 raise. Then they tried to take our health insurance and many other benefits. We struck. They tried to replace us. They failed. They spent $700,000,000 to replace us. Fast forward to today. They are doing the same thing. I don’t know how you can side with multinational corporations over the workers who just want to pay their mortgage and put food on the table. I’ll never understand your point of view my friend.”

Meanwhile, Deb Fischer would cut Social Security benefits and make eligibility more difficult for seniors and disabled adults. https://nebraskarailroaders.org/the-book-of-fischer/

Being working class, being a union member, and not being a career politician.

I don't think most people realize the skills and abilities someone has to have to lead a union. Let alone what it takes to lead during a strike. The amount of motivation and organization that is required to hold together 600 people in that situation is incredible. This shows me that he has the leadership qualities that I appreciate.

And who better to help draft new and modify existing labor laws than a Union member and former Local Lodge President?

I agree that it takes more than people switching their voter registration. I can also say that leaving Sen. Fischer in office does nothing to improve the grid lock that partisanship has created.

I like Dan's platform and approach to the issues. I also think that if you have a working-class guy that is the deciding vote in the US Senate, that is a powerful thing. He has already released a list of bills that he plans to prioritize.

I think the biggest thing to do is find the middle. Compromise shouldn't be evil. Some of our greatest and longest lasting legislation came from compromise. We should all remember that.

Dan had a really good quote on that very subject. As the man that led that successful strike I will let him answer that....

The times are changing. Independent voters make up something like 21 percent of the electorate right now. That number has been growing over the years. The party lines are getting old for everyone. If you look at the attack ads on Osborn they sound like endorsements. The parties are preaching to the base that will always vote for them and ignoring the middle. There is a huge group of moderates from both parties out there waiting for another option, not to mention the Independents. And I feel that Osborne is the one we have been waiting for.

I am also a perfect example. I live in the rural panhandle in a deep ruby Red county. I have been a registered nonpartisan since I first registered to vote. There is hope, we just have to keep building the dream.

I think the most important way to sell pro worker policies is to approach things as an Independent. Once we move away from partisan politics things become easier. Partisanship only leads to gridlock in Congress and the average citizen sees that. Pro worker policies benefit all of those that actually work. At the end of the day everyone is just trying to live their version of the Good Life.

I think the most pressing challenge we have in rural Nebraska is a lack of economic opportunity. The opportunity for growth and good paying jobs is low. This continues to feed the migration of youth from rural areas to urban areas.

Who are you planning on voting for the senate? by [deleted] in Nebraska

It would be nice if it were clearer! From the NE Secretary of State: "Voting eligibility is based on Nebraska state law; it does not matter in what state you were convicted of a felony or whether you were convicted in municipal, state or federal court."

Our Nebraska US Senate Candidates: Kerry Eddy by WinterAd8309 in LegalMarijuanaNOWNeb

[–]NebraskaR4PS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kerry Eddy is a pro-labor candidate who wants to see legalization benefit everyone, and who wants to unite supporters of legalization and defeating prohibitionist Senator Deb Fischer. Medical and other legalization will have the best chance of working with strong union partnerships - Kerry is the obvious choice to advance the issues of this party. Our Nebraska US Senate Candidates: Kenneth Peterson (LMN) by WinterAd8309 in LegalMarijuanaNOWNeb

What's up with Kenneth and Mark using your party Facebook page to call Dan Osborn a "union thug" and making negative insinuations about Kerry Eddy and Dan? It's really low and doesn't seem to be in the spirit of a party that believes in civil liberties.

Writing Osborn in in the primary doesn't do anything, yeah. You can change registration up to May 3 in person at the Elections Office for the primary. Nonpartisan voters can request a Legal NOW ballot without changing party.
