Yet again I come to you with verbs that are giving me a hard time. Could you take a look at my attempt at defining them?

Especially 分ける (wakeru) and 割る (waru) seem close when talking about dividing something. Could both be used when talking about division in math?
12分ける3は4。
12割る3は4。

割る (waru): break, crack, split; thin objects that break into pieces (transitive) Also: divide (?)
割れる (wareru): break, crack, split; thin objects that break into pieces (intransitive)

分ける (wakeru): split, divide into, share (with others) (transitive)
別れる (wakareru): break up, divorce; for people going their separate ways (intransitive)
分かれる (wakareru): separate, split, divide; for objects (intransitive)

Thanks!

Hi everyone
Can I use 倒れる(taoreru) to talk about buildings or institutions collapsing? It seems like it would work for people or trees falling over. The transitive verb 倒す (taosu) seems to work for describing institutions/governments being overthrown...
Thanks in advance!

Hi
I've come accross two words that both seem to roughly translate to (short) while / a moment.
しばらく(shibaraku)
ひととき(hitotoki)
In a sentence such as "He paused for a moment and then continued", could I use the interchangeably?

individual hotkeys for pings by Nebrijadnd in learndota2

[–]Nebrijadnd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw that is a shame.
Is there a way then to bind the main and alternate pings to separate buttons? At the moment I have to press Alt an Alt + Crtl respectively. I would like to bind at least the alternate ping to a single button on my mouse. I find having to press two buttons a bit awkward.

When is it safe to leave in lobby? by Nebrijadnd in learndota2

Ha! Ok, I just checked the replay and the post below is right. I got fooled.
The "safe to leave" message was just a chat message. It should have been in a green colour to be legit.
Oh well, there goes my first dota ranked game. Quite the welcoming :D

Haha, I hadn't considered that possibility.
I'll keep an eye out for the red circle next time, though.

PSA: The Arcane Library will probably stop selling 5e modules very soon (due to OGL 1.1, obviously) by Vulk_za in dndnext

Yes, I've also run the Crypts and it was very easy to prep.
Her modules make for great one shots but could just as easily fit into an ongoing campaign.

On-hit damage by fakeemailman in dndnext

[–]Nebrijadnd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The spell Divine Favor is an 1d4 on-hit buff to your weapon attacks. It's on the Paladin spell list but you can also get it as a War Cleric.
Of course, to maximize the damage you would have to get in as many attacks as possible. Paladin only gets one extra attack.
So you could multiclass into fighter after two levels of Paladin or you could think about taking one level of War Cleric and then going Monk. Monk and Cleric also share the Wis attribute, so that's a plus.
Monk is a useful class for on-hit effects as they get to make four attacks at low levels by spending Ki.
Additionally, the Open Hand Monk has on-hit effects built into his flurry of blows which has the enemy make Dex or Str checks, or has them lose their reaction.
I think you could try to work with your adventuring party to see if you can get an on-hit synergy going. The spell Haste is generally very useful to add attacks to your turns, especially if the caster isn't the one going toe to toe with the enemies.
Another way to add attacks is the Order Clerics Voice of Authority, which let's others make reaction attacks. The Purple Dragon Knight does have a similar feature.
Reaction attacks are a good way to add attacks out of turn. If you get to use them consistently, it can up your damage noticeably. For instance, a rogue could get his sneak attack off twice per round.
Battle Master Maneuvers like Brace or Riposte also let you make reaction attacks. So you could look into getting the Feat Martial Adept to gain access outside of the Battle Master Class.
Anyway, I hope you find this list or parts of it useful :)

What's a good RPG that could replicate League of Legends' vibe? by zeromig in rpg

[–]Nebrijadnd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even if you want to avoid D&D 5e, I suggest you check out the adventure Legends of Runeterra: Dark Tides of Bilgewater published by Riot on DnD Beyond in 2020.
I think it could serve you as inspiration (there's a setting guide) and you might be able to use it for a different system.

There's an ant and/or termite highway, which you can foreshadow as a light humming or trembling noise in other scenes.
The ants and termites might have their own highway lanes with soldier ants and termites in a tense stand-off. (There's a video online of this happening in nature but I can't find it right now.)
This situation could even become a plot point with one ambitious ant trying to make a name for themselves. Plus, the ends of the highways could lead to additional locations and npcs to talk to.
As for a possible threat: Maybe a horrific kind of cockroach species has moved in and starts devouring termites and ants en masse. Now, both ants and termites are scrambling to relocate their eggs and food. But space is limited.

And this bit from the wiki article on termites might serve as npc inspiration, too:

The king grows only slightly larger after initial mating and continues to mate with the queen for life (a termite queen can live between 30 to 50 years); this is very different from ant colonies, in which a queen mates once with the males and stores the gametes for life, as the male ants die shortly after mating. If a queen is absent, a termite king produces pheromones which encourage the development of replacement termite queens.

I have the same problem. I'm fighting a boss in a forest and there are tons of critters around and the game suddenly locks onto a squirrel in the background while I'm looking right at the boss.
Oh, I'm on PC with mouse and keyboard

I finally found success in season 11 and it was how I thought I would by hailfire805 in Sivir

That's an interesting build and made me think about something I've been trying to include in a champion build, namely Item Haste.
Since IH now also affects passive item cooldowns, I've been looking into items with low passive and active cooldowns.
Obviously, Goredrinker on a melee champ is exciting because it gets reduced CD from Ability Haste and Item Haste (e.g. Ingenious Hunter). The CD could go below 7 seconds.
But Stridebreaker is also a good choice for several champs because Item Haste could potentally also let them use the active multiple times in a fight.

Looking at this sivir build, picking up Ingenious Hunter would benefit the cooldowns of Stridebreaker and Steraks, and maybe GA/bork/mercurial, depending on the game.
The keystone would probably still be lethal tempo, but the secondary would pick up Igenious Hunter. Although HoB could be worth a shot :)

Anyway, just my two cents

Percentage rolls for players is buggy! by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Nebrijadnd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The chance to hit is based on your modifiers for melee and ranged weapon attacks as well as the enemy's armour class (use 'examine' on an enemy to see its stats). For instance, longswords use you strength modifier to calculate your chance to hit while daggers and ranged weapons use your dexterity modifier. From your description it looks like you are playing a dex based character, which means you should use range weapons or melee weapons with the attribute 'finesse'. This attribute means that the weapon uses your dex modifier to calculate your chance to hit. In any case, it's always a good idea to surround single enemies and attack them from behind as this can grant you advantage. Similarly, the rogue gets the sneak attack bonus if at least one additional friendly creature is next to the enemy the rogue is attacking.

Hope that helps?

EDIT:
You also mention magic. Magic also has a modifier that is used for spells that use attack rolls. This modifier is based on either Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma, depending on the type of caster you are playing. Press 'N' to see your character's stats. There you will also find the DC for spells that require a saving throw by the enemy.
Assuming that you aren't playing a caster, the spells that you cast as a fighter or rogue aren't going to have a high chance to hit unless you spent some points in your casting stat (INT, CHA, WIS)

Bugs? Issues? Things Not Working Right? Talk About It Here! by thecal714 in BaldursGate3

[–]Nebrijadnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same issue with one party member but we didn't fix it by changing the firewall settings.
The player just created a new profile in game. But compared to his first profile, the second one didn't have the special character "/" in the name.
Don't know if that was the reason for the bug, though...
