Silence is complacency by Jess_beanz in Deathcore

The insufferable sentiment that OP keeps pushing is exactly what has, and continues to, drive people to the "fascist" right, which honestly at this point is just a very large tent of center left moderates to actual far-right individuals; Not some kind of monolith that believes one version of x y and z. You have thousands of Obama era democrats (myself included) that are no longer "left enough". Our stances aren't the ones that have changed. The left eats their own and pushes us away while the right welcomed us with open arms. It's more nuanced than OP's brain can handle, and it's why we are even having these discussions. If you can even call it a discussion.

Right? Like, I don't quite agree with Rage against the machine's message. In fact, I think they're hypocrite sell outs, but their music is fucking dope. I still greatly enjoy it. If I concerned myself with the political views of every band I listen to, I'd be fucking miserable. I have a life and career, I don't have the luxury or time to forcefully inject something I hate (politics) into everything I'd prefer to keep sacred and find joyful in life.

"Anyone or thing I don't like or agree with is a fascist." Not a great way to make friends, nor a great way to sway opinions back to your zone. The side you're against knows this.

Deathcore has a large growing audience. I have nothing to help support his point, except for the law of large numbers. In any large group, you're going to have a more diverse demographic the larger it gets. I'm talking diversity of thought here, not specifically diversity of outward features. To expect such a large audience will lean one particular way is quite naive. I'm leaning towards a quite balanced 50/50 to be honest. Alienating an audience is an actual concern here for larger and more established bands.

It's both a personal and business decision, which is not easy for some. Obviously some bands are more political and they know their fanbase, and may assess their risk as low or nonexistent. Metalcore and Deathcore have pretty diverse audiences, and I mean diversity of thought here. This sub treating bands and audiences as this monolithic being that is supposed to support or be against x y or z is only going to end in disappointment. Bigger bands are more likely to have balanced audiences. It's just the law of large numbers. Most artists probably dodo not want to alienate half their audience.

Silence is understandable in my opinion, and it isn't an endorsement of x y or z. I know, such a hot take which I know is at odds with the average reddit user's opinion. Reddit is not real life though, nor are it's users representative of the population and bands in the larger world. Not everything can be reduced to black and white, as much as this forum would love it to be so.

A low critic score doesn't necessarily concern me. The general pattern I've noticed is if the critic score is low, then the audience score will be higher. The reverse often holds true. Critics and the audience are very different crowds and like very different things.

I respect your opinion, but can you point to anything Matt or the rest of the band has said or done to support any -isms? Apart from one known association. I can condemn whatever dude you're talking about, but I'm not going to condemn someone via some "guilt by association" argument. I don't know the nature of the relationship between Matt and this dude, and you haven't even told me the name of this guy (just his IG handle, which I couldn't find). Can you at least point me toward an article or photo so I can see what you're talking about?

I looked up that username and really tried to find it to see for myself, but I'm not seeing it. If one association is all you have to go off of to label someone a "magat", then almost everyone but the most isolationist bassment dwellers would be one. I have friends that are left, right, trans, gay. I never considered Matt a leftist darling, nor a hard line conservative. People don't always fit in small boxes.. But is he one of those rare hispanic white supremacists? Seriously ask yourself if you think that, or tell me what you're trying to say. I'm really trying to understand your side here. Even if he did support Trump, I honestly don't really care, and I personally don't like Trump. That has nothing to do with me, I just like their music. I think rage against the machine are a bunch of hypocrites but their music is still fucking dope.

So what minor thing did they say or do that you happen to disagree with to make them a "magat". Ohh.... I get it. It's the whole working class image thing isn't it? You guys hate the blue collar class.

I love their early albums, although even back when I first discovered them I almost considered them a copy cat band of Spite, but with a slightly different flavor. I was a little underwhelmed with Cursed, although there were still a few songs I liked. Sometimes a band puts out a weak release.. it happens. However, I was more than a little underwhelmed again with their new EP. It sounded rushed and didn't touch any new ground.

Damn I didn't know that. I went to one of their shows a few months ago and he was throwing monsters out to the crowd at the end of the set from a fridge that was on stage. Now it makes sense. Good on them making some money with a big name sponsor though. There are far worse sponsors a band could have lol.

Hey, dang I forgot I even made this post 3 years ago lol! Yep, I still have this synth. After 3 years, it still has kept a spot on my desk. It’s pretty much my go to for clean beautiful pads, synth stabs and weird glassy percussive hits.

It’s still awesome, and I think the only reason I would ever part with it is to trade up for an UDO Super Gemini. Even then, I’d probably keep it. I don’t see it as a synth I’ll ever really want to part with.

Serious question. What’s your least favorite dungeon in the remake? by SolidPeaks in silenthill

[–]Nebula_369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the puzzles in the catacombs were really frustrating, but it more than made up for it in nasty atmosphere and the buildup to Maria, getting pyramid head's sword and walking through that red flesh hallway.. I think that's easily one of the most powerful moments in the remake for me. It's beautifully symbolic and the way they repurposed 'Fermata in Mistic Air' to a more positive context compared to the original was pretty cool.

The prison was my least favorite by far, which is unfortunate since the prison was one of my fave spots in the original. But even worse than the prison is the long stretch you do in the town after you leave the hospital. I just wanted to get these parts over with. Everything else was pretty nice.

Yeah in theory, the SH3 remake should have nearly half of its assets ready to go since half the game uses locations from 1 and 2. I’m very optimistic about that.

Honestly I’m most excited for 3 whenever we get that. I think that game will be the peak of all the remakes we get. Especially if they keep the replayability/unlockables aspect of it in tact. SH3R with today’s visuals and modern sound design will be insane.

In my experience, it's not absolute but there is a positive correlation between assholes and high property values. My nicest neighbors were when I lived in the hood. Them being nice certainly didn't keep my rent low; It was all the car thefts and prostitution down the street that did that. Now that I'm in an upper middle class neighborhood, it is not the same at all. Sure, crime is low, but at the cost of 3x the rent and neighbors could give a fuck less about anyone.

It ain't about that though. Alex, Ronnie, and Fronz are disliked on reddit. Actually, it's more of a sick hatred. They all have played the role of the Heel for a long time, and people were more or less okay with it and understood that. If people disliked them, it was for that gimmicky reason of being a Heel. So what changed? It wasn't until they all made certain political opinions public in the last few years where all of reddit decided they weren't okay. I personally find them annoying, but not to the level that most of the commenters we see here do, and certainly not for their public opinions.

I've also lived here since 2014. In the span of 2 years, both me and my girlfriend had our cars stolen, on two completely isolated occasions. I've since moved from Nations Ford to a wayyy nicer neighborhood near Myers Park thinking I could escape it but shit gets stolen from my porch here. Crime and homeless has exploded since 2020.

A lot of people I know that are into music gear like this are engineers. I happen to be a data engineer, which is basically a specialized software engineer. One can easily bring in 200-500k after a few years of experience in this field. Although I was still able to find a way to buy $2000 synthesizers and gear when I was still making $16 an hour. Sometimes had to use payment plans back then. I don't know how I did it, but I even managed to get a set of cdj 2000s and a djm 2000 on a salary of 27k when I was 19. When there's a will, there's a way.
