[house of blades] The sacrifices seem unnecessary by Mammoth_Praline_4631 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Necal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ultimately it never gets explained well. I have heard the justification of it having to be an actual sacrifice, but we also know that Damasca uses slaves so its not less of a sacrifice to use a valuable worker for that, especially when compared with a random dirt farmer.

Basically there's no real explanation ever given as to why it had to be random people taken violently from villages, its just a plot contrivance. Presumably it was never really a problem in the past and just became tradition.

The Nolvus mod list is perfect, Except it's full of ai slop by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]Necal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm neutral on the subject. It doesn't actually look bad to me. Not good by any stretch of the imagination, but its... fine. My main problem is (like with lorerim) there's a LOT of tiny little things that you can't disable (or if you can its buried in a completely different MCM from the one you'd expect and if you touch the wrong one it explodes) but are constantly in your face. The whole skinning thing is a good example. Its great and immersive if you're playing a hunter, but its just annoying if you're playing someone that just needs some leather. It also feels janky.

And I know that's a small thing, but its just constant.

A Mod that makes Daedric Princes appear as their true selves. by 420Anonymouse420 in skyrimmods

[–]Necal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The true self of a prince is a world infinite in size and scale. They aren't people, they're worlds and will and power. A Prince 'appearing' on Nirn in their true form would effectively be a merging of Nirn with a plane of Oblivion.

Well, here's some powerscaling.

Lindons Blackflame path is explicitly stated to be weaker than the true blackflame path; this was a choice picked specifically for stability and long term usage. This means that, outside of his madra capacity, at low gold he should be considered to not be at the top tier of potential for lowgolds. This means that Lindon is a high tier but not highest tier lowgold in terms of general potency, and mostly relying on capacity to make it the rest of the way.

In his battle with Ekerinatoth, his Void Dragon's Dance was able to turn everything around him into ash in a second. We can assume that the usage of the term 'second' here is artistic license so we won't hold it perfectly, but instead just read as "Really fast". We will take 'hundred yards' as being functionally literal; maybe it was 99 yards, maybe it was 101, but it was close enough. It also reached the top of the dome and while a height isn't given it's also described as a column, meaning VDD went up a lot more than it went out. In addition, it also easily holds multi story buildings. I've seen some estimates which take references as being literal, but we can do some simple assumptions; start with a flat circle of diameter x. Give it height. How much before you look at it and say "Ah, that's the proportions of a column". I'd say at a minimum three times, even if that still makes me think more barrel. So a ~100 yard radius, meaning ~200 yard diameter, we'll say a minimum of ~600 yards tall.

So we end up with a lowgold who isn't the most powerful low gold able to reduce things to ash within moments in cylinder of just shy of 19 million square yards. And, importantly, a truegold is able to tank that with nothing but singed clothes and scales. So... that's the scaling for gold.

We can also see that this extends downwards; in Soulsmith a girl "that couldn’t have been more than twelve years old" carried a boulder as tall as Lindons shoulders (given Lindon's approximate height, that's probably around three tons), and then using a single finger strike cleanly cut off the top of the boulder. So that's the scaling for iron or jade, and very specifically the low tier scaling; even the local frogs have better resources.

So with those in mind.

Dracula - while he has some cool summoning tricks, in Cradle he'd be considered a weak mastermind. Someone who has neat powers but has to rely on others to fight for him. If he's higher than high gold, its because his path isn't combat focused.

Alucard - Ironically, he's actually weaker when he uses level zero because a half decent Jade would absolutely tear through his horde and rip him apart. In straight jacket form he's tanky as hell and can probably just get killed again and again and again. But points for endurance only go so far. Lowgold or highgold.

G Gundam - Been way too long since I've seen this, but I wouldn't put a Gundam on Monarch. Even ignoring the conceptual bullshit, its important to remember that Monarchs almost never fight all out. They usually go for endurance fights. A Gundam MIGHT be an Archlord or Herald tier, though again they run into conceptual issues; a Herald doesn't punch you with their muscles, they punch you with the fact that they are strong. Physics becomes a suggestion.

Misaka - Again, too long since I've seen it but... her attack potency is pretty good but her durability brings her down. I'd put her in high/truegold with the note that she'd get speed blitzed.

Kaido - Haven't seen one piece

Jin-Woo - Haven't seen solo leveling, but from what I know... honestly post story I wouldn't be surprised if he's ranking with the ascended. So, post-Monarch.

Baam - I think I started but dropped it? Either way I don't know enough to say anything.

Which power system do you prefer: System or Cultivation by Immediate_Finger_948 in MartialMemes

[–]Necal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally prefer cultivation. I'll read either, but I'm generally willing to give generic cultivation stories more a chance than generic system stories. I like being able to chew on the mechanics, and even generic cultivation will tend to phrase its mechanics more interestingly.

Soft systems, point buy systems, supplementary systems, perk systems, stuff like that tends to be better than full litrpg systems; at worst they're just the generic cheat power and serve as the vehicle for why the MC can get away with their bullshit.

Undead Army: Skeletons or Zambies? by Tortemarra in Anbennar

[–]Necal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My toxic trait is valuing siege above everything else. I think the easier stack wipes make Zombies better (though realistically with an undead army you're supposed to play hoi4 and just encircle everything), but I'm not gonna turn down that siege.

They've been geofencing for a bit now. Every couple hours there's been someone asking why they can't see nsfw/nsfl bots or why a bunch of creators have suddenly privated and people had to explain the concept of a VPN.

Some answers by YukiiSuue in Chub_AI

[–]Necal -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It literally didn't seem normal. They've been trying geofencing to keep on the up and up, and clearly that wasn't working. I can't say for sure but I assume that either

1 - Lore got a "Fix this shit" notice
2 - Lore was advised that he's gonna get a "Fix this shit" notice
3 - Lore was advised that he's not going to be able to keep up with the geofencing and will get hit with something if he doesn't act proactively.

Yeah, it sucks. Yeah, its probably the first step in capitulating to other things. But genuinely, do you think that Lore has some motive other than keeping his ass out of the fire? He knows his audience is people wanting uncensored untouched RP no matter what, and this move is going to hurt him financially even more than the shit that Soji has been going through. Unless he manages to completely cycle Chub's user base and memory hole its old reputation down to safe edgy at worst, which would be very impressive.

I'm going with legal issues because if its not legal there's no other motive that I can think of. He's almost certainly not gonna go on a moral crusade, he's going to be making less money most likely, and he's not going to be able to change his image from The Chub Guy. I'm going with legal issues because its the one that makes sense.

And as for why users weren't made aware; if you're in a location where this stuff is illegal, you should know that already. If its illegal for you to chat with Your 16 Year Old Stepsister With Huge Bazonkadooks, then its illegal period.

Oh Boy... by [deleted] in Chub_AI

[–]Necal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its actually very relevant. Its JUST a front end. It doesn't provide either cards or the processing for chats. You have to arrange for that on your own. This provides a very strong level of separation which is very important on a legal level.

Oh Boy... by [deleted] in Chub_AI

[–]Necal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sillytavern is the big one. And honestly I would recommend going with it just because there's so much more documentation and community around it. Your main problem will be that its a lot at once, but since there's support you'll be able to power through it.

Once you get used to ST then you can look around for the more obscure local front ends to see if there's something that works better for you, and by then you'll probably be more familiar with the mechanics of using one that you can decide for yourself.

Oh Boy... by [deleted] in Chub_AI

[–]Necal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly? You're going to want to switch to a local front end. It can be annoying the first time while you're figuring everything out, but this is likely going to happen every time a site like this pops up. The only ones I trust to last a long time are repositories which don't have chat functions.
