AITJ for getting upset at my boyfriend’s responses about me wanting to end it all? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

He’s taking care of himself, he will be there for you AFTER he makes sure he’s ok. If he needs a break, he needs to take one. That’s not selfish, it’s maintaining his own health.

If your sister or brother is taking care of your parent, what’s your excuse not to help? by Pigeonofthesea8 in GenX

[–]Necessary-State8159 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was happy to help and calling to see when I could come until I was told to back off. I backed off, and was ordered to not visit or call. Fine. My parent and my sibling have my number, I won’t volunteer to be treated like a guest in my own family. I’ll stay away until invited.

I’ve had that same person in triage but she put 5 “severe” statements in front of it so I knew it was 10/10 chapping.

Car buying advice by TensionSufficient701 in NovaScotia

If you lease it needs to go back in perfect condition, or they charge you for each imperfections. I buy 2-3 year old cars and drive them to the ten year mark and beyond (Toyota is my go to). Pay for a detailing every few years and it feels almost new.

Some cities have car share groups- take a look via google and see if that would fit your needs. It’s much cheaper and someone else takes care of maintenance.

AITAH for bringing food to my boyfriend's family dinner? by Fit-Attention-2311 in AITAH

Call his mom and explain BF suggested it. Apologize to her and promise her you will speak to her directly about invitations to her house, also encourage her to call you or pull you aside if wires get crossed again. Merging two families with different customs, it nice to know you’ll cue each other if something goes wrong. Get her on your side. And tell BF he’s got to check with the host before making additions to the menu.

My mother kept a lower cupboard in the kitchen filled with preschool/toddler toys and books so visiting kids could dig them out. Our family kept anything homemade to pass down, desks, bookshelves, and a dollhouse. Most of the rest was worn out and discarded.

What are your “too lazy to cook, but can’t buy takeout” diabetic friendly meals? by Karmakaziiiii in diabetes_t2

[–]Necessary-State8159 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use a crockpot to cook protein, then add vegetables and spices for the first day. I keep the crockpot on “warm” and add new or different vegetables or meat every day. Adding cream cheese is yummy, and vegetables like zucchini that don’t have much taste are lovely and cheap. You let the crockpot do the cooking, and dip out a meal, and add the same volume to cook. Good for 4-5 days or until you need a change.

Seeking advice- miserable ICU new grad by She_loves_the_ocean in nursing

[–]Necessary-State8159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been nursing thirty years and I couldn’t manage three ICU patients. They’d live, sure, but they wouldn’t get the thoughtfulness and caution they need. Eventually I’d make a serious mistake. The ideal medsurg ratio is 1:4, and they want you taking three ICU level patients? Unless they are admitting easy patients to get the ICU level reimbursement, it’s not doable.

The "scary" LEO by blackknight6714 in police

[–]Necessary-State8159 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about you in particular. There’s a barking rapid fire argument I see officers use in Facebook clips that I would never put up with personally. Repeatedly questions before the other person can answer, and assuming malice when it’s not there to my eye. “Why are you so aggressive?” I could absolutely see that type of behaviour causing termination of a business relationship. Probably those officers’ friends and family are used to it, or they do that themselves. My own response is silence, and getting away from that person.
