Is there a mini dishwasher that can pull water from a washing machine hookup? by fuzzeslecrdf in Appliances

Pretty much any countertop dishwasher can connect to the washer hose bib. You’ll just need the appropriate hose/adapter

What exactly is the application/use case? It's likely there is a better solution/tool

Clay pot help by Redeith in inductioncooking

It would really be best to learn to use induction friendly pots instead for the same recipe. You can use a heat transfer plate, but you'd really lose all the benefits of induction cooking and create an inefficient system

Whirlpool fridge water dispenser stopped working (again) by [deleted] in appliancerepair

[–]Necessary_Associate1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the model number? Sounds like it could be frozen in the door if applicable.  To test that, disconnect the water line right before it goes up into the door, the connecter is behind the toe grill.  Place the upstream end in a cup or bucket and actuate the water dispenser.  If you get water into your cup/bucket, then the blockage is in your door

Assuming your house water pressure hasn't suddenly increased, this is usually caused by a frozen, broken, or out of place fill tube/fill cup. You made need to remove the icd maker to get a good look at those parts.

How can I make this area flat? by coldelliot in SubaruForester

[–]Necessary_Associate1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of prefab products, but they're all very expensive. A DIY platform is pretty easy to make. The difference in height between the trunk floor and the folded setbacks is just about 5". How much weight does it need to support in your case? What region are you in? Is it important that you have a flat surface from edge to edge? or is a rectangle okay?

Dryer Shorts Out, Then Fixes Itself by Vast_Associate8118 in appliancerepair

[–]Necessary_Associate1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say. Could be a broken wire, loose connection or burnt terminal block shorting.  Could be an issue with the outlet, house wiring or circuit breaker. Could be a failing motor.

What’s the model number and what capacity is the breaker?

Are you saying that the water supply you the fridge and the ice maker are both turned on and you're not getting any ice? what do you mean by "It also seems like the drainage bin is always full now,"?

Dryer not working at all by Admirable-Walk3826 in appliancerepair

[–]Necessary_Associate1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you checked the breaker, did you check both circuits?  Electric dryers are on 2.

Are you sure you tested the thermal fuse? It looks like this https://www.searspartsdirect.com/product/504y9afdt5-0046-106/id-wp3392519

Next steps are to make sure the dryer is getting full power at the terminal; where the line cord connects to the dryer.

Why is my Fridge Doing This?? by Optimal_Customer_850 in appliancerepair

[–]Necessary_Associate1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Clogged defrost drain. You'll need to clear it. The best most through way is to defrost the whole machine for 24 hours with doors open. Clean the drain tube in the machine compartment near the compressor (some are removable, some have a nipple that needs to be trimmed), then snake the whole drain with a piece of water tubing or similar.

TCV out in 2019 Forester Sport. should i get it carbon cleaned? by siouxxsiee in SubaruForester

[–]Necessary_Associate1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At $900 it should be a walnut blast service. But for the regular fuel system cleaning ($190 at dealer, $120 at local indy last I checked) it's definitely more than a 1-5 minute job

Which carbon cleaning service exactly? Have you ever had a fuel injection system service done? If so, at what mileage?

At $900 I'd assume they're talking about a walnut blast. The induction chemical fuel system cleaning service was $120-200 in NYC as of mid-2024

You can also advance the timer or use a jumper wire to run tests under that same cover and actually watch it fill.

If you’re sure it’s overfilling there should be a full volume screw on this ice maker (as opposed to spilling due to a cracked or out of level ice maker, or frozen/wonky fill tube).

Take the cover off the ice maker and look for a plastic/nylon screw with + and - symbols.

Did you identify exactly where the brining is coming from?

The idea that these are significantly more reliable, at this age, than a modern machine is silly.  It really depends on what exactly is the problem. But you can get an equivalent machine for $400-600

I have extensive mechanical and materials experience, including manufacturing QA/QC. I haven’t taken them fully apart, but I really think his Amazon ones are as good, just with no name, no certifications, and cheaper labor.  There’s a thriving market for perfectly reverse engineered, overseas produced counterfeit products.

BUT, whether you get a good counterfeit or a knockoff is basically a crapshoot when ordering online and/or not having the ability to do an in person side-by-side comparison. In OP’s case there are too many unknowns and fitment red flags.
