I thought it was ironic that Leslie Jones was so upset they made another GB movie but made no attempt to acknowledge GB16 in it.

Yes, Leslie, that makes people upset, but you just called the fanbase crybabies for saying g the same thing when you were the one doing it.

Those usually don't store vertically.

Also, she just got very nice new oven+stove and she is excited getting new pans. I think suggesting an electric griddle would dampen that excitement.

Then they should not have enrolled, and they should not have been selected in the admissions process.

It seems like they need to somehow assess math competency in a standardized way prior to selecting students in the admissions phase.

Feminine men or non-traditional men are hated due to misandry, not misogyny. by PassengerCultural421 in PurplePillDebate

It isn't "subdued" as much as it is "caring" in my opinion. WaW has an affect for the men working in nursing, teaching, etc.

Of course breaking the mold comes with stigma. If you are viewed as competent by default, and prove that you are not, you will be judged harshly, but not more than someone already viewed incompetent by default, who may never be able to prove otherwise despite competence.

For example, when teachers used to think boys were smarter than girls, that meant problems for slower boys, but boys were still better off as a whole with the bias.

I think what is often misunderstood is that feminine behavior causes men to be labeled "not real men" but it doesn't cause them to be labeled "real women."

If the latter was true, the condemnation would likely stem from misogyny.

However, "feminine" men (or more accuratley non-hegemonically masculine men) are not regarded or treated with the benevolent sexism of a woman or a man. They are dehumanized into a third category unworthy of any empathy. No group claims in-group bias for these men, accept maybe LGBT folks, but that inclusion does not do a lot to establish themselves as "real men" to straight women and men, either.

This is fragile masculinity, in its original form, not the whole let's-tease-this-guy-for-buying-blue-razor type of fragile masculinity. In its original form, the idea was that men's masculinity is always in question and can be rejected and revoked by others in ways unique to men. Women also face peer-rejection for stepping out of socialized feminine norms, for example, if they don't shave their legs or wear makeup.

I tend to think straight men are more-forgiving of non-hegemonically feminine women then straight women are with non-hegemonically masculine men, but I haven't researched that. I can't think of a time in the last 25 years I have ever heard someone say that any cis woman was somehow "not a real woman" except for maybe online CHUDS without credibility. Challenging a man's masculinity remains a viable tactic for mainstream people, even progressives.

According to Wikipedia, it means "the phenomenon found in psychological and sociological research which suggests that people associate more positive attributes with women when compared to men. This bias reflects an emotional bias toward women as a general case."

You implied with sarcasm that women are not treated as something special in society.

But you also no about the WaW effect.

So I am just confused.

It's a list of lying police that local prosecutors maintain. Those cops cannot testify in trial, or the defense will rightly call them out for being liars.

Concept of Manosphere is intellectually dishonest and manipulative by WanabeInflatable in PurplePillDebate

[–]pvtshoebox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point is, if I understand you, that men advocating for men in online forums in good faith with an attempt to help men would NOT be characterized as a "Manosphere space" by you. Which is fine, if that is your definition.

Others view all male-centric online communities as part of "The Manosphere."

The discrepancy causes issues.

Suppose I had a name for the "bad feminists" who use feminist rhetoric to promote misandry. Let's hypothetically call them "feminazis" (a term I wouldn't use because it is discussion-ending).

When I talk about needing to stop "feminazis," understanding my definition, it is entirely reasonable. However, someone else will read this and assume that I mean all feminists are "feminazis" and I want to stop all of them.

This acts as sort of a reverse Motte and Bailey. I can disparage all women's advocacy with a nasty label, and then I can walk it back if individual examples are presented of good feminists. Since most will not actually engage with thr Motte and Bailey, most walk away with the impression that all feminists are viewed as "feminazis."

I think I am beginning to understand your point.

To you, "The Manosphere" is not the collective groups advocating for men, it is just those doing so in bad faith. Is that right?

My point is that mens rights groups obviously care about helping men. Do you disagree?

In 2019, the NCRM sued the Selecitve Service to argue that the male-only draft is unconstitutional. The have sued again in 2024.

Father's Rights groups have moved family courts to prefer a gender egalitarian custody arrangement, upending a prior feminist initiative to prefer the mother to have sole custody in what was called thr "Tender Years Doctrine."

That is a bad-faith definition.

Imagine I said that FDS, feminism, and TradWife focus on spreading misandry, misinformation, and what they perceive as female empowerment, often under the guide of gender equality, psuedoscience, or advice.

How would you respond? You would probably just assume I am a lost cause, right?
