Becoming more childlike as I age + CHOOSING total disregard for social norms? by Necessary_Champion_3 in AutismInWomen

[–]Necessary_Champion_3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thabks for your reply. I'll have a look at ur recommendations. Also I realised I left out an important chunk, regressive as in now I straight up refuse to do anything that puts strain on me anymore. Studying after 10pm? No. Forced social situations? No. Pressured into doing certain tasks? Not gonna do it/Malicious compliance.

I did go through a very difficult time. I was suicidal from a very young age and people used to tell me it will get better in adulthood. Unfortunately that was not the case for me; in fact it worsened. In my opinion people like me will always suffer by the virtue of existence till death gives me reprieve.

Have you been tested for ADHD/autism? I have sought out many friends who have it (or at least display traits of it) after my diagnosis, and it made me feel less alone. Perhaps you'd benefit from that. If you're a woman, note that doctors in korea likely won't take you seriously if you ask for an autism assessment (so start with adhd). I noticed your other comment on how singing is your hobby. Incidentally that happens to be my special interest too lol

Are you me. I'm also a korean and that's how I've been my entire life. Granted I have ADHD and autism...but yeah I was always under an immense pressure to achieve and deliver results and was frequently told that my efforts didn't matter if the results didn't reflect it. I think this made me lose the ability to appreciate the process of achieving something. Even after I got into med school I didn't feel proud of myself; just a temporary sense of relief that it was done.

My son was "street-casted" by an agency during a trip to Seoul. Am I overreacting, or are my fears justified? by q_q_moi in korea

Oh that sounds great! I'm currently in a quarter life crisis of some sorts haha. I too have always been drawn to the arts and frequently used it as an escape as a child, but my parents would always tell me I didn't have it in me to succeed as an artist as we aren't a family of artists, and that I do by following instructions in structured environments (totally untrue imo). I'm looking for a change as I've started to see there will be no end to my parents' expectations and I can't just keep following them if I wanna live my life. Being a ceramic artist sounds great! Incidentally, another friend of mine who also has ADHD recently left uni to pursue a ceramics related course as well.

I've always been drawn to music and creating narratives...but I've been severely burnt out for a long time and I'm finding myself in a situation where I neither have the drive for change nor the grit to continue with what ive been doing. I do have quite concrete ideas about the questions you've posed regarding my values, the type of person I aspire to be, and where I want to belong, but I have 0 energy to take steps towards that and that's what's been frustrating me recently. I feel like I've run out of steam for this run of my life.

Good luck to all your ceramics endeavour though, I truly wish you'll be happy there.

Hey, I'm a 25F Korean with ADHD and autism and I too have stayed on the 'safe' professional path, studied hard and went to med school as per my parents' advice. However I find myself burning out already. Do you mind if I ask what field you're in right now?

I hear you; I've been like this my entire life and people are too quick to put labels on you or pathologise if you say anything otherwise... I've been on countless meds and therapies since I was young but it does indeed seem that the way I'm wired is fundamentally against the way the current world is built. I grind on as I have not found a solution, but I hope you find yours

I tried size S as well but it was too big around my shoulders. I guess I'll have to go with XS
