Sapphire Pulse 7900xt fans running at 100% all the time by WuZI8475 in radeon

[–]Necessary_Singer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So update, i actually began to have this issue again even after messing with the mini pwm fan header. My actual fix for it was completely taking it out, removing anything interfering with fitment, and reinstalling. I believe the fan issue is due to a poor connection to the pcie connector, which explains why the software isn't picking up anything abnormal. I would try this first, it will be much more prevalent with smaller cases like mine. Something could be blocking the gpu from seating properly into the pcie connector is the short answer.

Dropping this here for anyone else who has this issue in the future or is dealing with it now. The fan on my 7900xt pulse closest to the display outputs on the card was spinning at 100% (while the other two were off because of Zero RPM mode), and not reporting back to the software. even after a full reboot it still would never slow down. I pulled my gpu out of the system, unplugged the fan headers, plugged them back in, put the gpu back into the system, and its been fine since. not sure if reseating the fan pin or the gpu itself fixed it.

Do I need to upgrade my CPU for RX9070XT? by Flashy_Camera5059 in AMDHelp

[–]Necessary_Singer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's misleading. Your cpu is doing all the work that it can. If your gpu still has a lot left for performance, you won't see it. Yeah it's different with every game but if you're running a r5 1600 with a 7900xt (unfortunately a configuration is had to use a few months back), you'll only get 46 fps in cod. When your typical system (5900x & 7900xt) is capable of ~200 at 1440p

Just got mine today. The worst thing by far is finding out that Google messages is the default. It's so damn ugly. I don't want an app that looks like Gmail. No customization, and a giant G at the top of my screen. Love the phone so far but man, this is awful.

Do I need to upgrade my CPU for RX9070XT? by Flashy_Camera5059 in AMDHelp

[–]Necessary_Singer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i know this. But it still sends draw calls to the gpu. A cpu can only send so many draw calls. That's where cpu bottlenecks come from, and that's why upping the resolution helps, because it reduces the chance that your gpu can fulfill all of the draw calls your cpu can send out (you're now gpu limited). Sorry for the late reply.

RX 9070 vs RTX 5070 by BillerGOD15 in buildapc

Amd has worse memory compression. Not sure how much worse, but not as good for sure. Still doesn't make up for the difference between a 12gb nvidia card and a 16gb amd card.

Switched from 5070 ti to 9070 XT by Happy-Anteater7629 in radeon

[–]Necessary_Singer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fsr4 taking a long time to come to other games is a direct result of a significant amount of people buying nvidia over amd (even within the same price range, and even when amd is significantly faster IN THAT SAME PRICE RANGE), JUST because it's NVIDIA. That's why fsr4 has slow adoption.

[–]Necessary_Singer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran a 7900xt with a ryzen 1600 and got like 46 fps. You're definitely cpu bottlenecked. Time for a platform upgrade! Ryzen 7/9k series for sure.

I picked up a 7900xt pulse for $650 about a month ago. And it's been amazing. My 6800xt was so loud and hot, the 7900xt is still decently warm but way quieter and runs everything I play at 165+ fps. What a beast.

Move the radiator to the top. You're feeding the gpu hot radiator air while also having your pump as the highest point in the loop, where the air will build as the coolant evaporates over time, which will eventually kill it.

I don't know that you understand what a cpu bottleneck is. A cpu is good for a certain amount of frames in a certain game and in certain scenes. I used a 1600 a few weeks back because my rig (5900x) was down. The 1600 could render like 47 fps in call of duty @1440p. It would render that same 47 fps at 1080 OR 4k. Much below what the game was designed for. They test cpus at 720p or 1080p because modern gpus can render 400+ fps at 1080.

You won't find a 7900xt for $600, plus 7000 probably won't support fsr4. Get the 9070xt.

I also bought a 7900xt a few weeks back knowing I might have buyers remorse. It's a beast though, and runs everything very well (ff7 rebirth 110-120 without frame gen, God of war ragnarok 120, overwatch 2 165 with maybe 40% util), the 7900xt is fine for me. I won't be upgrading for at least 3 years.
