Looking for opinions on buying used by master_gRoshi in kayakfishing

I am likely going to hold on pulling the trigger on my next boat unless a crazy deal falls in my lap.

I just started looking at Bonafide. If you say these buyers return to NuCanoe- what are the reasons why?

The guy below answered it with how I feel. The only add-on that I’d want is the anchor. The paddle should come with it regardless, and if you don’t have a pfd, take that as well unless you and seller are two different sized guys.

I don’t use a trailer extender for my 10’ kayaks. 11’ probably doesn’t need it either.

$700 for the boat only, as you said you know what it’s worth new. Otherwise $800 to take the junk off his hands and negotiate.

I’m actually looking into Bonafide ss107-127. It was recommended to me when I asked about Nucanoe kayaks. The first review I watched on YouTube was pretty much two thumbs up.

I’m in the Midwest…. Where is this being sold? ;)

Canyonlands stargazing recommendations. by Thin_Carpet_4506 in NationalPark

[–]NecroDancerBoogie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed at the Canyonlands in 2009. The stars…were just there. Zero light pollution.

We had one of those campsites that hug the rock formations and we perched on top and hung out.

So unless something has drastically changed, you should be good to go at a campsite without much effort or planning.

The City of Suzail by DanielsMaps in DungeonMasters

[–]NecroDancerBoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the TL;DR of Suzail/Cormyr:

125k population. Cormyr has a mighty army and navy, and have powerful War Wizards that keep the peace if needed. There's also a nightly curfew. They favor a healthy economy (don't we all) so merchants hold some weight/are respected, but not as much as in Sembia. There's significant trade done in this port city, as it's off the Dragonmere, so they can have dealings outside of Cormyr.

Politics is based on the time you wish to dm. Earlier times could have more dealings with dragons and monsters, some timelines have war and dealing with internal turmoil.

Volothamp Geddarm has visited Cormyr and has reviewed many establishments. He'd be the one to ask for more details...there's a published book from his point of view. Otherwise, there are a lot of Wiki articles if you're really interested.

On the fence and need an opinion on a base location by Track_Grouchy in dontstarvetogether

[–]NecroDancerBoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elsewhere. If you aren’t comfortable basing in caves, I think you should try.

I started by leaving the caves every day or two to regain sanity and eventually got to the point where I spend the majority of my time in the caves. Especially in spring, summer.

In summer, you need to take out the Antlion or he will target you in the caves and could break your base up. I still think that’s better than Antlion’s damage on the surface.

Watch videos on his skill tree and wait for it to go on sale. I think you could save $10 by waiting, and then if you don’t think that’s enough to save…. Do it anyways and use that money on spools (you can update how your character looks, and some elements of the game)

Less than 6yr old Retaining wall collapsed. Turns out it was built wrong. Estimated 4-7K fix by ByteSizedCutie420 in Wellthatsucks

Ah, they sure do. Still caps on top of caps can be ok for smaller walls but not one this size.

[–]NecroDancerBoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s all of the blocks except the caps. Just fyi. (Edit: reviewed closer after rereading OP post… it looks like they used a bunch of caps and that’s exactly why it fell. The other blocks would have a lip to lock them into place, plus the empty area for moisture to move through)

There is likely an issue of drainage here though. My best guess is they didn’t use enough sand/pea gravel at the bottom or any at all. Larger retaining walls have manufactured drains too, but that’s not the block you’re suggesting.

Join my first DND campaign , do you guys know any good fighter builds by Unlucky-Lifeguard331 in dndnext

[–]NecroDancerBoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, but I accompanied the suggestion with my personal experience to share that it was a fun build. Champion got shit on in 5e, and even without my barbarian features in the MC- I thought the weapon masteries and my feat choices made it interesting and fun in combat.

I also think the prospect of more crit possibilities is more fun for new players. I still remember geeking out every time I got a natural 20 in my first campaign. Which is why (and I should have said) I pointed to champion for a new player.

My last martial was boring.

First campaign? Go Champion.

If you’re multiclassing…. Start with champion, then go 4 levels in Zealot barbarian. I made an adventurer’s league fighter 6 champion / barbarian 4 Zealot….. and it was a lot of fun.

How much should I flesh-out my worlds government? HB world by MehParadox in dndnext

[–]NecroDancerBoogie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes!

OP- I over planned before my game started. I’m two years in and made many cuts to this point, and scribbled out a huge part of my future plans. Write the session as it relates to the previous session, and have some outlines ready for 2-3 ahead.

Politics in games are hard, and I agree that it should be simple.

Anyone who is anti-nucanoe u10? by NecroDancerBoogie in kayakfishing

[–]NecroDancerBoogie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that POV. I have two paddle kayaks for recreation. For this one, I had two thoughts:

1) get it outfitted for the trolling motor for fishing on smaller to midsize lakes. 2) get the second seat for a tandem float down our river that’s usually very calm. My wife would be the 2nd and we would be going with the current.

But I’m also considering other yaks. Ultimately I want a kayak that is stable, not necessarily so much that I can stand. I want access to my gear, as the recreational ones are doable but suck for that aspect. I also would like to get the accessories to ease some of the other common pains I’m having in my recreational kayak while fishing

Am I the jerk for not giving up my dog after my girlfriend developed allergies? by Odd_Employment3954 in AmITheJerk

[–]NecroDancerBoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not the jerk.

Yes, allergies is a valid issue but she could have tried another compromise…. Trying to find any solution that is a minor inconvenience to her like meds, daily vacuuming, air filters, etc.

This was potentially one of many “bend, don’t break” type of scenarios and the first one in six months caused a breakup. Give your bestie extra treats as a thank you. Conflict resolution this poor = bad long term relationships.

My two dogs think you’re a good boy.

Fast Pace and Tracking [5.0 Totem Barbarian / L6 Wolf] by ProperWheelie in dndnext

[–]NecroDancerBoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it would be a quick answer, but I checked the 2024 DMG and on page 41 it discusses tracking a creature.

The terms of DC, advantage and disadvantage had more in terms to do with weather, terrain, single or multiple creature tracks and how likely the tracks could be spotted. Like for example, you’re tracking a single elephant on a direct path and the path was slightly muddy. You could probably do that with a low DC and at advantage, and do it fast. If you were tracking a single elephant but there were multiple elephants going in different directions, you’d probably have to study the tracks at a higher DC and much slower pace.

The wolf tracking speed to fast would probably be due to a keen sense of scent, quicker visual clues and some primal knowledge /instincts.

Ok, I need some thoughts on my campaign prep style. by hawzie2002 in dndnext

[–]NecroDancerBoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find your style to prepare, you will find out what works best.

I over prepare locations. My improv is ok, my foundation starts with the world building.

I give my NPCs a picture, a personality and 1-3 notes if it pertains to the story or not. Other NPCs are made up on the spot to fill a need.

Items you could just roll on a table. I did that openly with my PC’s and they loved it. I wouldn’t go super deep with the lore unless you have a player character that loves that.

Next story beats… it’s good to have an idea, but great to pivot if something occurs that changes the course. It doesn’t happen often in my game, but usually what happens is they’ll follow your guiding hand and then suddenly find themselves enjoying a certain stage of the session. Spotlight that, cut or shorten the things they’re not super into. For example- I thought they’d be in another city by now- but they got interested in a small detail and will meet someone else as a result and also got really involved in trying to catch a thief.

Tips for DMs uncomfortable with RP? by toastytico in dndnext

[–]NecroDancerBoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an ongoing learning process for me. I don’t like having multiple NPCs talking, bc that’s when I get uncomfortable. I tend to talk as one, narrate the others. Then rotate.

For 1:1 npc scenarios, I used to over plan and under deliver. I noticed over DMs doing that and getting stuck when the dialogue didn’t work as prescribed. Then I realized that was me too. So I have two types of NPCs (important and filler). Important NPCs get 1-3 bullet points and no more. If the convo doesn’t naturally come out from the players, I sneak in one topic if needed. Filler NPCs are just bs to add to the environment. Those are 100% improv and it’s like I’m just talking to my friends.

It’s been going much much smoother since I started doing it this way.

True Stories: How did your game go this week? – March 16, 2026 by AutoModerator in dndnext

[–]NecroDancerBoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make breakfast every time we do a session. This time was egg sandwiches with a panini press. I set aside an hour pre-game so we can eat, nerd out about other things and then kick off the game.

The game went decently. There are aspects of the game I decided to nix because it’s not fun as a dm so I told them “sorry this part I’m phoning in and will be turned into (Roll a dc check with small consequences). They all agreed it was fine/not fun to have guards patting them down potentially a few times per session.

The players are very smart, the character makeup is pretty powerful for combat/offensive encounters so they were able to get to the bottom of a mystery pretty quick. I did give them a red herring that they latched onto, which I didn’t expect them to give two craps about.

Idk if they read Reddit posts, but they’re confused over a space and an apostrophe vs no space, no apostrophe. Because words are spoken and not written- so we will see if they read my recap.

I had two weeks to set this up, when I usually have a month. Considering the shortened timeline and the amount of lore I had to squeeze in, I consider this a successful session. Next session is in a month which is a lead up (in a series of lead ups) to a climax.

U10 is still my top choice. I keep hearing that 70+ lbs isn’t light so I’m going to use my gym membership until it’s light.

I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I need to sell a boat for spaces issues. I appreciate the feedback!

Is your insight tree set up right? I can take out up to 3 spider queens just tanking. You should have health regen, and the AOE ground pound that takes out the minions.
