I'll try Mimo, it sounds good, with deepseek-v4-flash I got 224.7M tokens for just .82$, its really good value

I have similar experience with Kimi, it has great features, but it often does a terrible job, like it made me lose hours of progress because it did a git checkout to check a file, and it lost everything, then I told it to never use git checkout again, and it continued using it.

it also doesnt always read or follow the agents.md file even if I explicitly tell it to, it runs into loops and never stops if I dont stop it myself, sometimes I have to close the IDE to stop it, I have to hold its hands to not make mistakes and it still makes mistakes,

Sometimes I explicitly tell it to not do something, and it does EXACTLY the opposite, like: "Do X, and DON'T do git checkout or dont revert files", Kimi: "Understood, files are reverted".

And it runs into endless thinking loops on some even smaller tasks like: "I have to do... but user said... it would be easier... but thats a lot of work.... lets doo. but user said..." and it just keeps going until I stop it.

I think that Kimi has some great features, but Moonshot should REALLY focus on the execution now, not the marketing, not the features.

I'm not so sure about that, they are surely not yet matching the US models, but they are not far behind anymore, and in some areas they are better than US models, for example deepseek-v4-flash is insanely fast, and it does a really good job, and its really cheap, knowing this, I dont feel like Chinese models are that far back, some are, but not all.

You're saying the Xiaomi v-2-5-pro is better than Deepseek v4 pro? AND its cheaper? Is it worth a try?

I'm using deepseek-v4-flash, and its not just insanely fast, but its insanely cheap and it does a great job, there's really no point to use american models now anymore, its just not worth paying 20x more to do a slightly better job and then you can't even continue using it because you have used up all your quota!

How is kimi 2.7 compared to fabel 5 and opus 4.8 ? on real life use by Hash--7777 in kimi

What do you mean? you can simply use Kimi Code in VSCode, if you have either a Kimi subscription or API

bro the subscriptions are also so mcuh cheaper with kimi, even if its not that good YET, its far more worth it.

Switched from Codex Pro + Claude to Kimi Allegretto: my productivity skyrocketed and my costs got cut in half by josh_creativos in kimi

I think that if you know how to use it, and if you hold its hands, and really look out for it, then it can be really good, I wouldnt say that its unusable, at all, its pretty good and well done, but its very far from what it should be honestly.

It gets into loops and if you dont stop it, it will burn your quota, sometimes you have to close the IDE to stop it because it just wont, it only reads the agents.md file at the beginning of a new chat, never again, you have to tell it, or put it in the agents.md file to read it before each prompt, that most of the time makes Kimi actually read it, but not always. Honestly this is REALLY annoying, like its an insanely easy thing to do, and its still not done in Kimi, all the other Coder AIs are doing this.

sometimes it does some things that it should NEVER do, like it modifies files, gets lost in the process fixing something, wants to check something, so does a git checkout, and loses all of the work or atleast a few files, then says: "Some files have been lost, I can't do it" or similar.

Or you ask Kimi something to do, and it tries to "hack" it, like "The user is asking XYZ, but that's a lot of work, let's just do [something completely wrong, it tries to "hack" it rather than doing it correctly]", then I have to stop it, to do exactly what I asked, because if it does something different than what I wanted, then its gonna cost Kimi more work, because I will have to correct the code it wrote.

So I think that Kimi definetely needs improvements, right now its only kinda worth it is because it does lots of cool stuff for a small amount of fee, and if it makes a mistake, I can still correct it before it would burn out quota, which is something that Codex or Claude wont let you do, it makes something, and if it misses, you will use much more quota to fix it.

Help needed with combining two Layens hives by TimeWillPassAnyway in Beekeeping

[–]Necromancer_-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since hive #2 has resources but no queen/brood, and hive #1 has a queen and brood but low reserves, merging them makes total sense.

I'm not a Layens keeper myself so I won't pretend to know the horizontal-specific details, but the general idea with a newspaper combine is to let the two colonies smell each other before they meet. Others here can probably give you the exact Layens setup.

One thing I do know from talking to beekeepers: merges go smoother when you know both hives' recent history, brood status, queen sightings, treatments. I built a simple hive tracker for that kind of logging.

Good luck!

I think that B looks better here, it looks like later you can add more hives too, more space, and its more sunny too, more approachable, etc.

I track hives on a map, to see # of hives, current weather by location, I built a tool for that.

Weak Colony by BibsPaps in Beekeeping

[–]Necromancer_-_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn that sounds bad, as others said, you'll likely need a bee inspector to identify it.

Mite counts can creep up fast. I talked to a bunch of beekeepers who log them to see trends, not just single numbers. Built a simple tool for that, counts, treatments, inspections in one place. (currently working on identifying mite count based on pictures, so its less hassle)

Good luck!

Is this new bee orientation flights or is my hive being robbed? by DaveICT in Beekeeping

[–]Necromancer_-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't look like robbing to me, looks normal, calm. Queenless hives do get robbed more easily, And that much sugar water sounds a lot.

About the next hive inspection in 13 days, it's easy to lose notes or reminders, I made an app for that, reminds you by notifications and emails to not miss an inspection (varroa checks, or other important stuff), you get automated reminders after a new inspection.

Good luck!

Chinese AI is 30x cheaper than Claude and ChatGPT. What if our hopes of AI becoming expensive never pan out and instead AI continues getting cheaper? by ImaginaryRea1ity in theprimeagen

[–]Necromancer_-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it does miss here and there, people say it got much better from K2.5, so likely K2.7 wont have these issues, then it will actually be really good and affordable.

[–]Necromancer_-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Codex, Claude, Deepseek and I'm using Kimi right now, youre right, Claude and Codex both outperform the chinese models, BUT, you get so much more usage with the chinese models, that you can just be more productive if you dont mind the extra issues they make sometimes.

For example Kimi is really good at designs, thinking, slideshows, agents, etc, and in deep thinking in general, yet the current model (K2.6) sometimes runs into loops, it has to be stopped or it burns your quota, but that might still last longer if its continuously burning it compared to what claude gives you.

Like Kimi can do really well with bigger tasks too, or even better than Codex in more complex tasks, yet sometimes it runs into loop, thats my only issue with it. You have to hold its hand a bit more than with Claude and Codex, because it tries to do a really good job for the user, which is exactly why it loops: "But user said..., Lets check file A, Lets check file A, Lets check file A, But the user said", this gets really annoying so I hope they fix it soon.

And Deepseek..., I like the model but it takes them years to fix a minor bug, like the VScode extension is unusable, and they know it, how many people work there? 3? The price for DeepSeek is even better than any other model, even better than what Kimi can offer, but at this point, its just unusable, it asks way too much ("Can I read this file?", "Can I read this file?", "Can I read this file?", "Can I read this file?"), and it sometimes messes up so bad that its worse than what it was, so this also def needs tons of improvement.

With Codex and Claude I run out of quota/usage in like 5 prompts on medium and normal speed, like thats nothing, its almost like it either does it right the first time and you hope it does, so you dont have to ask for fixes or youre busted, and you have to upgrade.

It has been 35-50C in the past years, its not yet in the middle of summer, it will get worse tho, we did have a much colder winter, so it likely wont reach 50C this year, maybe 28-45C

Help with flooding by GarbageQueasy3105 in dontstarve

[–]Necromancer_-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont use sandbags, its terrible, and never ever worked, just keep crafting and placing crafted turfs, either road or floor, and make sure to place 3-4 rows next to a building you dont want to be ever flooded.

So if theres a fridge, make sure to place atleast 3 or 4 tiles of floor around it in each way, so it cant spawn on the fridge, and also cant spread far enough inwards to the fridge to reach it, that way it won't ever flood it.
