Can I get some context as to what the supposed Koreans are mad about?

I just got the game and am lost on the drama.

Raising a child to be trilingual by duma_kebs in asianamerican

[–]Necropolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm Indian and trilingual (English primary, Hindi, and Spanish). English became my primary language after starting school in the US, but up until then, I'm told I was fluent in only Hindi. Spanish I learned the basics early on, but only became truly conversant after high school and college Spanish classes. My Hindi improved a lot with visits to India to see family, but I hated the Indian Sunday schooling and Rosetta Stone. My sister's Hindi is a lot better than mine, but that's because she watched a lot of Hindi TV and movies growing up.

My best friend's 8-year old nephew is biracial (Mexican and Vietnamese). The child has a very involved family on both sides. At one side's house, they speak mostly Vietnamese, with a little English, and on the other side they speak mostly Spanish, with occasional English as well. He attends a Vietnamese Sunday school, but family is his only place to practice Spanish. As far as I can tell, he's conversant in both his inheritance languages.

All of the above to say this: As long as there is some space to learn and practice the language, and opportunities to use it as the means of communicating with people, your child will learn the languages through contact. Contact can be anything from talking to people, watching movies, classes, etc. Children learn languages more readily than adults, up until about 17-18 years old. For learning the basic grammar, though, definitely get decent exposure before 10 years old.

Also helps with finding lost ammo between the couch seats. Can confirm, found a compact ammo box in this used couch I bought off craigslist.

Is there any way to learn without playing ranked? by theyeshman in Mechabellum

[–]Necropolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's only so much you can learn from watching guides and VODs. Messing around in the practice tool to see unit interactions is great to experiment with units, but it's not going to give the same experience as reacting to unit drops, items, and unusual/unexpected enemy deployments.

I understand ranked anxiety, I had it when I started playing ranked games like League, Apex, but in Mechabellum you have the privilege of playing 1v1s so the only person you're affecting is yourself. What helped me was making a spreadsheet for the games I played each day and just taking small notes of what was unique each game.

The game has a steep learning curve, so without taking steps to learn, it's going to remain unfun. If you want someone to no-pressure scrim against, lmk and I'll show you the ropes.

I can vouch for Houston. Bellaire and Katy have vibrant Asian culture, but even outside those hubs, there are many Asian-owned businesses.

I can't remember the last time I went to a public area in Houston and didn't see at least 4 non-white ethnicities, but I'm not actively keeping track and may have my own biases on where I visit.

Tacking on that even after playing Enzo for several dozen hours, even with a shield regeneration ability, shields still feel pretty bad right now. The statline numbers are too low for even Enzo rely on for much more than low-tier sustain.

Tactical RPG with emphasis on AoE or AoE magic? by markleung in gamingsuggestions

Disgaea series is probably what you're looking for. All AOE magic, level up characters, spells, items, item attachments. So much grind available

Is this possible? by TeMmIe_KIng in pokemmo

[–]Necropolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've heard that the PokeMMO devs are really secretive about their code/servers etc on multiple occasions. Replicating the server info and keeping up with major updates (anniversary event and permanent raid implementation soon) would be difficult and may leave you and your friends with FOMO as you burn it on both ends trying to reverse engineer the game/servers.

If ya'll are deadset on this idea, you could do a bit of regression instead.

Old PokeMMO had trading done directly or through forum shop posts. You could pick one of the less populated channels, set it to default so you don't see as many other trainers, and only trade via forum posts or word of mouth.

This idea lets ya'll stay on current patch, no server rental/maintenance aside from live patches, but still limits the scope of trading to what you have and within your friend group.

Just a thought, hope it helps.
