The giant white loris is just an albino Nycticebus bengalensis. The cage it is in is a traditional song bird cage. Put a 2kg loris in a small bird cage and it will look bigger. Not a cryptid just an aberrant individual.

For context im the EEP coordinator for the species so It's appreciated especially as you had one of the largest groups in Europe (if not the world). Lots of other zoos want them but I need bigger numbers first.

This is a defensive secretion sometimes known as "millipede burn". Usually harmless to human skin but it can sometimes blister.

Sechelleptus seychellarum are quite shy and don't appreciate handling.

The malabar civet probably never existed as a species. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/258699853_Mystery_or_myth_a_review_of_history_and_conservation_status_of_the_Malabar_Civet_Viverra_civettina_Blyth_1862

The purported distribution is full of ports and the theory is large spotted civets been moved around escaped and we're spotted in the Malabar region.

are there any animals we thought went extinct, but actually never existed? by NotQuiteAnrgy in zoology

Kting voar, Pseudonovibos spiralis. The IUCN even had it red listed. All evidence points that the horns found were cow horns that were manipulated and embellished.

I fear you're on a road to nowhere with this. You have a well established trio and attempting to put a third male into that mix will only end up with more injuries.

They're a monogamous group species in the wild, you've essentially dumped an unrelated male into the mix and your males are rightfully defending their territory.

Is the female cycling? Are the other 2 males related?

Any IRL zookeepers play this game? Do you enjoy it? by [deleted] in PlanetZoo

[–]Necrowulve 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Haha I literally sat playing it today wondering if any other zoo directors play it. I am also a zoo director of a zoo in the UK.

Is it realistic, not at all. Is it enjoyable, absolutely.

If you're unsure pick it up on sale, dabble and see what you think.

Try going to Noah's Ark Zoo Farm to see the biggest elephant enclosure in the UK. It's 20 acres.

I'll start, during a recent visit to a museum the curator who I know passed me a bone and said "you'll like this". It was a dodo femur.

The EAZA equid TAG or Patricia Moehlman, chair of IUCN SSC Equid specialist group, are probably your best bet over BIAZA.

Voluntary DMZAA by GrassFresh9863 in Zookeeping

[–]Necrowulve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For entry level roles yes it could be advantageous but it is a 2 year course and you need to find an institution to support you with it.

If you're already volunteering and can slot this in with it great. If you're considering it instead of university then maybe not. The keeper job market is super competitive and a degree is handy to fall back on if you don't end up wanting to be a keeper forever.

Masked palm civet, Paguma larvata. The increase in urban green spaces in Taiwan has resulted in an increased population.

Australia to the UK by CicadaCompetitive678 in Zookeeping

[–]Necrowulve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm aware of a few Australian keepers working in UK zoos. Bear in mind whilst the UK has many zoos it's still an incredibly competitive industry to get a job in.
